I'm online a lot, and I get exposed to a lot of rumours through chat rooms, blogs, etc. Anyways, I usually dismiss a rumour if i only hear of it a few times. However, I've been hearing on quite a few chat rooms that Wizards is going to take much of the best homebrew stuff, and compile it into a book, to be sold in stores, no name yet. What do you all think of this? Can someone who's got actual contact with someone from Wizards confirm this?

That would be really cool, but wouldn't WotC have to shell out money to those individuals for their idea? Not to mention if they did that would the prior posts be removed so that people still don't get them for free?

I don't think Wizards would shell out any money, as their ToU grants them rights to anything anyone posts on their forums. I don't know about the book being actuality, just thought I'd mention that. Would definately be very interesting. I wonder if they would have to playtest it or if they would trust the forum-goers playtest reports?

Are you sure that it isn't just people misremembering the Dragon and Dungeon Annuals? If you replace the word homebrew from that sentence with Dragon articles, then it is practically word for word the description of the annuals that we have had so far.

Heh, I was already aware of it, which is why I've kept my best stuff off-site, to be released via my website (once it's up and running).

Well, im not a DM, so the only way to hope to use my Homebrew would be to post it on here and hope that this rumor is true. Although I just posted it on here for fun, now it is a personal goal to find this out and, if it being true, to get one of my Idea's in there.

More than once I've seen people on these boards claim that something they posted here ended up in a book. Unless you plan to publish, I think having one of your creations stolen by WotC would be an honor.

Too late. If you've already posted it then it's their's to publish, if they want it. Even if you edit the posts, the software archives the original posts as well as the changes.

It never says you don't lose the rigfht to do all that stuff yourself.

It just says you give them the right to do it.
