Wish they would let me make the kinds of characters that made me like the game in the beginning.  I have definite ideas of what my character should be like, and these rules are trying to make it nearly impossible to achieve such a simple goal.

Care to go into more detail?

I play a wide variety of characters and have DM'ed.  With that being said, I like to keep certain kinds of characters simple.  Playing a role-playing game should make the player happy and motivated at the same time.  I won't be happy and motivated at the same time if characters get everything quickly or if my character can't be as simple as I would like.  When i say "simple" i mean the ability to stereotype the character easily.  I realize that some players only want the most powerful character in the universe and they lose all their motivation when that is not achieved, but there is no "all-powerful god/goddess" character class and I hope it stays that way.  The main thing to make me happy is just the character creation process itself.  I want to be able to pick and choose abilities that I have envisioned my character having.

I think with "going into detail" Ranadiel rather meant why you cannot make the character you want. What exactly is your problem with the character creation process?
