Clues about the 2010 setting?

So I read somewhere that there were going to be clues and hints hidden in the April or May magazines. Anyone have a list of what theuy have been?

Basically, there appear to have been hints dropped that it could be Dark Sun. Nothing overly concrete but more than enough to give people who want Dark Sun some hope.

May 05, 2009 22:18:44 I don't see Greyhawk at all. If they're going to do a generic fantasy setting it'll be Dragonlance. First because it has bestselling novels, and second because although it is generic fantasy it has a personality all it's own and a very strong theme.

Where Greyhawk is just a poor man's Forgotten Realms and would add nothing new.

I still see Darksun just because it's radically different and it's the perfect PoL setting. Then I see them doing Dragonlance after just because they'll have had two really different settings (Eberron and Darksun) and it'll be time to get back to their roots again.

Meanwhile Ravenloft will get coverage in a Shadowfell book and maybe a Super Adventure. Planescape and Spelljammer will get their due in an Astral Sea book.

Beyond Dark Sun and Dragonlance I see either an eastern themed world or something totally original. Possibly both at the same time!

I can really see them making Dragonlance interesting again. And the answer isn't the War of the Lance. It's to move forward but cut all ties to previous storylines. Yes a time jump... but no spellplague or world altering anything. Just the natural evolution. And a fresh place to start.

Dragonlance and Greyhawk were both talked about last year at Origins and Gencon. Its really not worth speculating on at this point until after Origins this year and possible wait until after Gencon this year. A lot will be discussed and found out at pressers at the cons.

And trying to decode the "hints" that they are putting out about the setting for 2010 has not been easy. But I would look at the Order of Celestian and the GM's rewards module "The Village of Homlett" pointing to Greyhawk are much better things to take as hints than an Obsidian sword on a mini and the Defiler in the April fools article which was not even written by WOTC pointing to Darksun. And I have as of yet to see anything this last 2 months that would hint towards Dragonlance.

And just so people know I am a fan of Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, Dragonlance and Darksun. I only truly hate one setting and thats Eberron and well perhaps Spelljammer.
