What the thread title says.

The Editorial Calendar for March presents the 2nd installment of the Codex of Betrayal. I, for one, am excited.

It doesn't give any mention as to who it'll be, though. Care to try and guess? Would be a new Duke of Hell like Beleth, or would be a revisit on the Dukes of Hell that they did towards the end of 3.5?

I hope it's someone from Dis. Of all the Nine Layers, it's the one that could most easily serve as a deranged base camp of sorts. Titivilus, perhaps? Maybe even *gasp* one of the lords of the Nine?

Yes, I'm a sucker for Demonomicon and Codex articles. :D I just hope they don't do a repeat of baphomet, who didn't get stats due to him being out in MotP. It just feels right for them to put the statblock here in the article itself.

Any thoughts?

A Lord of Nine would be great. (I'd prefer Belial and Fierna)

My favorite articles are the Codex of Betrayal, Lords of Chaos, and Deities and Demigods. I don't care so much for the Demonicon, but it's all right. As you can see, I like articles about big baddies.

Y'know, if Lord Ventor had been saying Pazuzu instead of Asmodeus, Pazuzu probably would've showed up. I hear Pazuzu does that sorta thing...

Oh...Hi Pazuzu...

PAZUZU!

*ahem*

You may now return to your regularly scheduled non-Futurama programming.

And, so I can actually contribute to this thread;

I'd like to see Beelzebub / Baalzebul, or else Levistus. No real reason, though.

Mephi!

Levistus would be cool as well, if he's the one who's frozen in ice, afb so I'm not sure.

If they like to show off like I've seen they do, the article will be about Glasya...

I would be tickled pink if Melcanthet, queen of the succubi, got an upgrade.

You mean changing Malcanthet into a devil?

I'm not soo sure about that... there's something very CE about her, and I want to see her more as a demon, even if succubi themselves are devils now. Besides, won't her existence as a devil conflict with Fierna and/or Glasya?

Succubi are Devils now. Humanoid demons became Devils, beastial devils became Demons.

I'd expect one of the Dukes not one of the Lords. Or maybe one of the exiles of Avernus like Azazel.

Uhm, didn't I just say that they were indeed devils now? My point was, Malcanthet's very personality is CE. Fierna or Glasya fits the succubus supreme now, and that would create a conflict.

And, for the record, Balor are humanoid, but they are demons nonetheless. So humanoid form is not enough to make them devils.

I say it'll be Graz'zt, when he was a devil and servant of Asmodeus.

But without stats, of course, since PCs can't fight him (anymore ('cause there are no rules for time travel)) he doesn't need stats.
And the article will include feats and powers and exarchs and all, but just the names, no rules. This stuff will be in another book, or in the dragon compendium, or it won't be released at all.

I guess it will be a fluff-only article (i.e. approx. one to one and a quarter pages).

Anyway, I hope it's Mephi.

Well, I just checked the ToC:

Codex of Betrayal: The Butcher of Nessus
By Ari Marmell

This article details the archdevil Alloces, creator of some of the Nine Hells' most hideous -- and useful -- monstrous creations.

I've never heard of Alloces. :D I am excited, though I'm wondering what level this butcher would be? Dispater is 28, and Beleth is 26.

Ah, so you did, my bad, just seemed to make sense that if all her main minions (succubi) were devils, Malcanthet should be one too.
