Dark Sun Hippie Killer Campaign

I am psyched for the return of Dark Sun. We used to have a campaign that the premise was that we were sick of hearing about the environment and preserving vegetation in such a dismal brutal world. We called it the Hippie-Killer campaign. I am ready to start that sucker back up and have a great time killing druids, preservers and the evil gardeners.

We had an incredible group. A human fire priest cleric, a half-elf path sinister defiler, a half-giant ex-templar fighter, a thri-keen psionicist, a disgraced human black sands thief, and me an angry mul gladiator. Despite our tendency to kill druids and desecrate an already failing land, we weren't evil, we were neutral greedy. We were the Michael Milkens and Ivan Boeskys of Athas. (I suppose in the new campaign we'll have to be the Kenneth Lays and Bernie Madoffs of Athas) We just had a soft spot for shattering the jaws of a too-whiny druid or preserver. the Sorcerer-kings loved us because we turned a huge profit on slave druids and preservers we sold. I mean, we only ever destroyed royal gardens when we were sure we could do it without getting caught! They never knew it was us!

I am sure a lot of you will have fun playing Conan the carbon footprint destroyer, but there is another angle to the setting. When you get home from driving your slow boring prius, you can throw some dice and bury your bone cahulak into the skull of some simpering druid going on about saving the planet. You can give him a bleeding head to match his bleeding heart!

It may sound like just another munchkin evil campaign with minimal role-play and maximum damage (and stats), but I am being completely serious about the fun angle it creates on the campaign, and you can fit right in with the setting. In fact, with the number of preserver wizards and druids within civilized areas this ends up being the minority counter-culture option. It's at least as valid as the nature loving approach. It's not mindless evil, it's the greed and ruthlessness of the setting combined with the ideology that the new barren world promotes survival of the fittest and is a valuable and welcomed crucible for improving the people of Athas.

Plus it can be a therapeutic and humorous change of pace from typical campaigns and dare I say the weight of similar problems we face on our real world. When it's tough to do the right thing, and you do it long enough sometimes you want to do the wrong thing. This allows you to pretend to do just that.

In that light, I offer the first (tongue-in-cheek) ultimate epic foe of the Dark Suns Hippie-Killer campaign!

I hate that I have to include these, but please do not use this post as an excuse to start a political, environmental or game setting fight in this thread. Thank you! :D

POLITCAL DISCLAIMER
This is not a Red v. Blue or Blue v. Red political statement. It is simply a satire of a popular politician. If for some strange reason Tipper let him visit this forum and he saw this post and understood the gaming and setting context, I think even he might find it humorous.

This made me laugh long and hard.

I will, in fact, if you do not mind, put a band of NPC's into my campaign when I run Dark Sun who do just what your PCs do. Perhaps they will be antagonists to my PCs, or allies, but in the end it will be mad fun.

I AM THOROUGHLY OFFENDED. YOU SHOULD BE SHOT.

Now that I'm done joking, I think this is quite clever. But there needs to be a Moon Worm writeup, and a Man-Bear-Pig writeup.

I also liked the Futurama references

Also, Interwebs should be a ranged attack, or something. But it currently is an area attack with no radius that also has to be performed in melee... I think. Give it a range and a burst or just a range and make it a ranged power.

Actually, I'd pretty much classify Bernie Madoff and Kenneth Lay as Evil.
