On Martial Power 2...

I'm not getting a good feel for this one yet.  It states that:

"You can build a fighter who slashes and pummels at close quarters, or a rogue who employs stealth as a lethal weapon."

They both already do this.  How many more ways could I want them to do the same thing?

But, the archer warlord does intrigue me.  I'm just hoping it (and the currently previewed material) is not all the book is good for.  I haven't been let down before, but the blurb in Dec and Beyond doesn't hold appeal for me.

Well, I wouldn't know about the fighter, but maybe the stealth-focused rogue could be similar to the Aerialist Rogue, in that some of his powers require training in stealth and give him some sort of bonus (possibly making him more dificult to attack).

It's worth noting that the Dragonborn book will have exactly one Epic Destiny.

Also, I'm glad that these articles have started adding more detailed previews of the upcoming month of Dragon and Dungeon. I'm looking forward to seeing if they do anything new and interesting with  Backgrounds. And it looks like Warlocks have been getting a lot a love lately, with a Vestige Pact article on top of what seems like it might be a Dark Pact article later this week.

I agree that I'm not totally sold on Martial Power 2 so far. I hope I get pleasantly surprised there.

In the case of the new fighter build, that'll depends on just how close they mean.  As a melee class all fighters are already fairly close, but what if Martial Power 2 intends to push them even closer?  Perhaps the new fighter build will be an unarmed combatant, a brawler/grappler build.

As for rouges.  While the rogue has a legacy of stealthiness from previous editions, and while it's high DEX makes it good at basic stealth checks, its powers thus far have not be really focused on stealth as a combat style.  Instead, the Brawny and Cutthroat builds focus on dirty fighting, while the Trickster and Aerialist builds are acrobats.  To compare the class to monster roles, most rogues thus far play like skirmishers, perhaps Martial Power 2 intends to introduce a build that plays more like a lurker.

Does anyone have any info on how martial practices will work, I've heard them described as "rituals for martial characters". But will they simply be exact equivalents (You first need to have the martial disciplne feat and then you 'learn' the disciplines which take x time to do and last y amount of time...) or something else?

not yet enough information on this

they told something on going on marching for a few days... so maybe you have to know the martial practices and you have to do something to activate it

I would think that you activate it and then can sustain it for as long as indicated BUT if you stop to fight or rest or whatever and you can use again the practice after an extended rest + other

I am personally intrigued by the Underdark book.
Particularly by the idea of the three planes merging there.

I'm looking forward to each of the new books. Especially a stealthy rogue!

Any ideal what combat styles could be like? I hope it is better than the things like the Exotic Fighting Style feat.
