Okay, so, I had a product idea. Everyone knows that a DM screen is a good thing for lots of reasons. what about a limited edition DM guide, shrink wrapped with a DM screen? How many people would buy that? Raise your hand and don't be shy.
I am really interested in when a DM screen will come out. I have some pages of tables that I can certainly laminate to a piece of card stock and tape together like I did when I was first playing the game, but let's be real. All the information is ready to go, it is simply assembly and printing and it can be on the market. Pretty freaking easy. Make it part of the DM Manual and you have instant sales.

Gale Force 9 is supposed to put out one this month, with a Hoard of the Dragon Queen theme. WOTC is putting out their screen in early 2015 I think.
I will be buying one of everything released, so I guess whenever they are released I will pick them up regardless of cost.
This would make a nice DM screen. I'm not sure if this is an older edition screen, but the graphic is nice.

I was on the fence about buying it until I had it pointed out to me just how versatile it really is (change the reference tables based on the game and what's going on and switch out the artwork on the players' side when the party moves from the city to the dungeon).
I will be grabbing one of those. I can see making random encounter tables and using HP directly on the screen. I could then just keep track of it by writing on the screen its self. Also initiative orders and so forth. Since much of this edition is easy to remember with the whole advantage/disadvantage system more screen realistate is open for the former stuff.
GM screens are really easy to make yourself and you can make them designer for the adventure you are running as well (maps etc on your side) and dont really need more than some effort, acetates, cardboard and cellotape
I have to be honest, I don't love DM screens in 5th edition. I know as a DM, I sometimes want to fudge rolls for various reasons (usually to keep from killing someone in one hit), but there's a problem with that.
There are too many player abilities that key off of seeing the result of the roll to trigger. I suppose a player who has those should make sure the DM announces any rolls facing when they would trigger that player's ability, but it might just be easier to roll in the open.
I do like having things like conditions and monster creation templates on a screen, though.
