Although green dragons might not be as powerful or as destructive as some of their kin, they are innately and instinctively deceptive. They lie as easily as people speak, and they are good at it. They love intrigue and prefer to achieve their goals through guile and double-dealing over any other means. Talk about this preview here. |

| #3panicsOct 28, 2011 9:18:41 | It would be interesting to know the SIZE of the dragons in the collector's set! No where its indicated, not even in the store! I Already possess the Huge & Colossal version and I doubt they are this size considering the price of the set! Thanks! |
| #4sythspawnOct 28, 2011 9:47:12 | They are Large. |
| #5excalainenOct 28, 2011 14:32:07 | It looks kinda fat. |

They certainly like to rehash races and classes in essentials, then chuck the psionic baby out with the bathwater if you play encounters. so why not miniatures. The blue dragon is identical to the Large Blue Dragon from Deathknell. The black dragon is identical to the Black Dragon Lurker from Demonweb. The red dragon is identical to the Large Red Dragon from Dragoneye. Only the green and white dragons are new. There is no mention of this on the box, only the online release indicates the set contains duplicates. At least they fessed up, but bad form not stating in on the box. oh, they probably want to sell the collector's set... that's right! I think the two new models look good, and I don't mind the minor face lifts on the green dragon. Yet, because of the duplicates, add this miniature set to the growing list of disappointments from WotC. |

Price on Troll and Toad: Dragoneye Large Red Dragon = $32 Deathknell Large Blue Dragon= $18 Demonweb Black Dragon Lurker = $22 Granted, the collectors set is less appealing for people who already have some of the dragons, but it's better to make dragons, the coolest monsters in the game, available at a good price for players that want them. |
| #8Fallen_Star_02Nov 11, 2011 20:20:42 | Personally though ,I'd much rather pay $75 for five huge dragons. There is no huge black. |
| #9slickenfiberNov 12, 2011 18:40:31 | Yes I've seen similar prices on other websites. So the duplicate dragons are $9 plus tax or less each when buying the collector's set at retail. I consider myself a collector of the d&d prepainted plastic miniatures. There are so many monsters that are under represented, that releasing duplicates under the guise of a 'new' set just rips me. I have over 20 unique dragons so far. I'm all for having additional large metalic dragons, just not duplicates. Now the identical dragons from the earlier sets have been devalued by this release. A bit of a shot to the companies selling them and the collectors who own them. I must be completely out of touch with the logic behind the WotC decision engine. One thing that seems clear is making duplicates must be a cost-cutting, profit maximizing decision. Maps for the encounters campaigns are duplicated instead of rendered new. The pregen characters never seem to change between campaigns. Now at the dawn of reinvigorating the d&d miniatures and minature game comes the dragon collector's set containing repeat minis -- ironically something a "collector" would not ask for! I guess making a table of contents page for dungeon and dragon "magazines' got too expensive too, as did bundling the articles in, oh, say a continuously page-numbered magazine! well i better stop before I b*tch myself to blindness. sorry everyone! and sorry that WotC seems to have lost their way a bit. Thing of it is: I spend a lot of money on D&D because I love playing and running the games. But ever since WotC decided to change it's target market to "new players", things have gone downhill fast. And all of the "new" players I've gamed with feel the same. Pull up wizards!! By the way, anyone else see something a little off by placing the witch build under the wizard class and not the warlock class?? I guess my female warlock isn't a witch afterall. |
