Dungeon Tiles request

I've splurged for my upcoming games, and bought five of the dungeon tiles sets. They're great, so far, and already fun. However, there are a couple of sets that I think... well, could really use more attention than have been getting. So, if I could call the next few tiles sets released, here's what I'd do:

1) Keep/fortress walls: The walls, battlements, towers, gate houses, maybe even a moat. Enough walls and towers, btw, and I could run Helm's Deep, or various other siege scenarios (narnia's recent movie, for example). Make them bulk of the pack walls and towers, I'll buy multiple copies so I can cover my table with a massive, massive castle to siege/defend. Some interior rooms, but if I'm getting multiple sets I don't want to have five master bedrooms; I'd prefer one barracks per set max, and more focus on repeat areas. I already have other sets of tiles, so I'm fine for fortress chapels, etc.

2) Crypts: Tentative title "Crypt of the vampire". Basically lots of mausoleums, graves, sarcophagi, and for the big ones the interior of a tomb/mausoleum or something. Gravestones could include statues of angels, heroes, gargoyles, whatever; heck, a big one could be a war memorial. Extras could have skeletons covered in rats, or spiders, or a bank of mists covering the ground. Walls and small steps to separate rooms, or between/inside graveyards and tombs.
Again, super-key material for loads of adventures.

3) Furnishings: Piles of gold, skulls, rags, whatever. Chairs, beds, things I can put in and out of dungeon rooms so I don't have them painted to the floor in other sets (like the streets set where my miniatures are standing on people). Also could include Trap Door openings, pit traps, simple doors, more statues, and dungeon dressing I can add to my other sets. Basically, I'd have this set be things I can spruce up my other sets with.

4) Miniatures sets that aren't totally random; I'd like a bulk batch of orcs, minotaurs, goblins, and other mobs of minions that I'll use in my games. If I can drop some (reasonable, thanks) money and buy cheap, plastic mobs in bulk, that'd really help my game. I don't know where to do this yet.

How about fortress walls just like you're asking for, and have them be 3-D models so you can print them out on cardstock or light cardboard and glue them together into actual terrain? How about for free? Man do I love the guys here at Wizards, cause here you go!

Problematic for a number of reasons:

1) Space and storage
2) I don't have a printer or color printer
3) I haaaaate folding stuff like this.

However: thanks for the try. Good call, but I don't have the time or space for bulky stuff like that. The tiles are easier, and I can build whatever fortresses I need for whatever encounter I'm going to have.

Thanks, though.

1) Keep/fortress walls

This could be good, but I imagine we cuold already use the existing tiles to show this (long 2 square wide tiles as the walls).

2) Crypts: Tentative title "Crypt of the vampire".

I have enough crypts with the existing tiles, so not bothered about this.

3) Furnishings

This, definitely this. I want more furniture, fireplaces, tables, chairs, tapestries, window ledges, book cases, cupboards etc to dress up a room, a lot of my games aren't set in dungeons but in houses, taverns, and embassies and these would help a lot.

Stuff like this is also incredibly flexible and can create lots of different rooms with only a couple of base tiles.

For #2, check out D&D Dungeon Tiles III: Hidden Crypts -- it should have what you're looking for.

nice!

It doesn't say graves, but I'll have to look inside. There are coffins/sarcophagai in the other sets I've got, but I'm thinking themes that will come up often.

I'd use the tiles for battlement walls, but I might as well just draw them on the battlemat; I'm thinking things that look like battlements (though I see what you're saying about stairs; I think I'll be good for now on stairs).

The Underdark caverns one I can't seem to fit together well enough: no solid wall edges, and they don't cleanly fit together. At least to make a wide cavern with all of them, savy? I'm running a cave of kobold bandits today, from keep on the shadowfell, and I can't mimic the lair with them. Maybe a goblin cave, or underdark corridors, but mixing and matching them isn't as easy immediately as I'd hoped. I'll work on it.

Some things I, personally, would like to see:
  • As was said, more "dressings," and for the various locales (though an emphasis on the "dungeon" base is fine, since that's what most sets are).
  • More urban terrain, including interiors (furnished or unfurnished rooms, with "dressings"), specifically pieces to make shops or inns. Rooftops (more of them) would be good, too, as well as balconies (and windows). Perhaps canals / waterways?
  • "Transition" pieces (DU2 has one) - tiles that allow for a transition between one type of terrain and another.
  • More wilderness terrain, specifically "forest" dressings, and alternate climates.
  • Along the lines of the above, perhaps a "desert ruins" set, with desert terrain on one side of the tiles, and "ruins" on the other.
  • "Ocean," "Ship," or "Coast" tiles. A set that mixed those would be great, though you could get two sets out of it if you had "docks and ships" and then "sunken cities" - with bare water on one side (and features), and "underwater" terrain on the other.

Those are just some off the top of my head.

I'd also like to add that I would have loved it if small dungeon-tile pieces were including in the Monster Manual miniatures packs next year - just small (maybe 2x2?) tiles, associated with the "visible" monster for each pack (lairs, hordes, etc).

I'd like to see a "Caravan" tile set, that has 4-8 big tiles with pictures of caravan wagons on them, and extra tiles with pictures of the teams of animals (both mundane and exotic) pulling them.

You could string the tiles together as a caravan, and move them along the road on a map, as part of a "running" encounter.

And of course, the reverse side of the wagon tiles will have pictures of ruined and/or burning wagons!

I'd like to see a "Caravan" tile set,

You may want to check out Paizo's map packs as there is a Caravan one, though the wagons and animals are on the same "tile" and there are no burning wagons

Okay, having played a bit with tiles (which I'm loving, by the way), I just wanted to bring this one back up.

I really want to emphasize that I would love to see more outdoors terrain (especially if it worked with the previous outdoors set, either by using the same ground type, or by having some "transition" pieces). Scanning through Keep on the Shadowfell's maps, we could use some of those elements, especially...

  • More Trees / Dense Trees.
  • More Interesting Rivers / Roads.
  • Curvy Rivers / Roads.
  • Cliffs or Embankments.
  • Waterfall and Outdoor Pool of Water (same tile works for me).
  • More "difficult terrain" style features, of various natural-looking types. Undergrowth, dense undergrowth, etc, would all work very well. More/different dead trees, rubble, etc.

Not an exhaustive list, for sure, but just stuff I would love to see. Timing it near the PHII release (with all those fancy new Primal classes) would have probably been a good idea ;) .

That, and as stated above, Vehicle and Mount Tiles.
