Early Dungeon Delve?

Feb 27, 2009 20:19:07 Went to my local Barnes and Noble today and picked up a copy of Dungeon Delve. Did they release it early? I think i remember the release date being in Feb but then changed to March.

The change was due to problems at the printers - bad cardstock for the covers IIRC. So it's entirely possible that the whole batch wasn't bad and they managed to do a partial print run.

I think the revised street date was supposed to be Monday. If you have a local game store, you might let them know B&N had it already so they can notify WotC. If I'm right about the date, then B&N has put it out early, which is a contract violation and extremely bad for small game shops.

Strangely enough, when I preordered it, Wizards said it was February's book, but the bookstore said it wouldn't come into my hands until March. But then I picked it up a couple days ago, and they said it came in on February 17th (around the time of the month when Wizards normally releases the books), so I'm just confused about why they changed the date and changed it back. But the Wizards site still says that Dungeon Delve comes out this month, as well as PHB2 and all the other March material (assuming they changed to the March material a day early, rather than just being even more confusing).

So it's not just Barnes & Nobles.

Mar 01, 2009 7:10:44 My guess: a few of the books came back from the printer without the problem, so they were able to fill some of the orders in the original release date. Some places got them on the original schedule, but many places did not--hence the move of the release date into March when they could fill ALL of the orders and not just some of them.

Mar 01, 2009 23:12:54 Interesting that Wizards like Bill Slavicsek got the book about the same time as some of us (see the Ampersand)... I would have thought that even if we got them early by accident or incident, people on the inside would have got them even earlier...

I can't speak for wizards, but if I had a shipment of books some of which were unusable, I would full fill outside orders before internal orders.
