| #1shamhatJun 29, 2009 22:31:10 | Let me be little and green and cute and fully supported through Dragon Magazine. And don't tell me I should keep my barbaric side in check! Why don't you keep your colonialist side in check instead, huh? HUH? |
| #2onusboneJun 29, 2009 23:02:16 | Agreed. |
| #3fenrir7139Jun 29, 2009 23:06:55 | Hell yeah! More races and options are always good (as long as they're somewhat-decently balanced, of course), and an entire article dedicated to goblins (or, hell, even goblinoids and orcs all!) would be awesome! |
| #4Silver_BlazeJun 29, 2009 23:08:54 | They could be saving goblins for something though. Who really knows at this point. I am totally in favor of a Playing Goblins article though (just Gobs, not Hobs and Bugbears). |
| #5GMforPowergamersJun 29, 2009 23:40:22 | (just Gobs, not Hobs and Bugbears). wouldn't it be intresting if they did put all 3 togather...3 sets of stats, and some feats for just one race, some for all three... |
| #6Silver_BlazeJun 29, 2009 23:44:04 | wouldn't it be intresting if they did put all 3 togather...3 sets of stats, and some feats for just one race, some for all three... I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it. The thing is, Gobs are almost always overshadowed by Hobs and Bugbears. Let's left the Gobs have their day in the sun. |
| #7kimbyJun 29, 2009 23:52:03 | I really want to play a Goblin Rogue. I'm waiting patiently for a Dragon article or CB update that will allow me to play Goblins legally in LFR. .....Now if WotC will just do something with Half-Ogres..... |
| #8shamhatJun 30, 2009 0:27:22 | I'm waiting patiently for a Dragon article or CB update that will allow me to play Goblins legally in LFR. No! The time for patience is over! There is no time for patience! We will have our uprising and we will have it now! Now, I say! NOW! Many pokey holes will be pointed and poked into the pesky pinkos who are conspiring to keep us down! The goblins are here and we shall rule all! With full support from Dragon magazine! None shall stand in our way, and we shall no more wait patiently! |
| #9mkillJun 30, 2009 4:01:24 | Supported! We need a proper goblin PC writeup!! |
| #10That_Blasted_SomoflangeJun 30, 2009 7:26:07 | Please note though, that if such an article were to come into being, especially if it is based around Eberron, I would expect that all three would get support in the article. The reason being is that in Eberron, the hobgoblins are the military might and power behind Dhakaan. While the goblins fill the rolls of the craftsmen, farmers, file clerks, etc. except for a few notable goblins. Bugbears are as they have always been - muscle, not very smart, but there to carry the heavy weapons. So, IF you want an Eberron themed article, it most likely won't be goblins only. |
| #11dan_vkJun 30, 2009 9:03:34 | I agree that goblins and other 'monster races' deserve the feat and power support 'traditional races' have, but it would be icing on the cake. Having a well-stated racial profile is good enough for me. In the game I started using the EPG one player is a goblin warlord, another player is a minotaur ranger, and things are working just fine. Someone could write an ecology article for popular 'monster races' and submit it to Dragon magazine. There certainly seems to be the passion here to get it done. ![]() |
| #12DragolothJun 30, 2009 13:47:05 | I totally agree, it's time for a goblinoid article. Whether it's Eberron specific or not, I would love to see all three goblinoid races made into official PCs. |
| #13doctorhookJun 30, 2009 14:12:10 | Hell yeah! More races and options are always good (as long as they're somewhat-decently balanced, of course), and an entire article dedicated to goblins (or, hell, even goblinoids and orcs all!) would be awesome! Nah, Orcs are their own can of worms. They weren't always, but they are now. Besides, it would be strange that Half-Orcs are fully supported but Orcs are only wrapped in with three other races. |
| #14doctorhookJun 30, 2009 14:18:35 | I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it. The thing is, Gobs are almost always overshadowed by Hobs and Bugbears. Let's left the Gobs have their day in the sun. See, I just don't know about that. If the races are balanced properly, they should all be good choices. (Goblins ought to have the option to wield weapons as though they're Medium sized creatures, though; this way you'll still meet Goblin characters who are members of weapon classes -- Rogues especially.) |
| #15williamhm75Jun 30, 2009 18:19:44 | Id rather play a hobgoblin brava warlord/barbarian myself. Go Hobgoblins. |
| #16sallaJun 30, 2009 18:39:08 | Not a big fan of the gobbo family myself, but I know people who are. Bring on Playing Goblins! |
| #17williamhm75Jun 30, 2009 19:05:21 | Not a big fan of the gobbo family myself, but I know people who are. Bring on Playing Goblins! Just as long as I can make a psionic goblin ill be happy for some reason I like the idea of a blue skinned telepathic goblin. |
| #18tiwaztyrsfistJun 30, 2009 20:57:52 | Hear Hear! Goblinoids Ho! I, personally, would like to see a "Playing Goblinoids" article that is setting independent, to come out in the same month (or week, or even, possibly DAY) as a DragonShard Article "Heirs Of Dhaakani" that's all Eberron specific gobbo fluff, with a couple Eberron specific feats for them as well. |
| #19kimbyJul 01, 2009 0:12:08 | No! Goblins Rule!!!! |
| #20Arcane_GuyverJul 01, 2009 2:16:57 | Yes, yes, and again, yes! I don't know why the hell we're still waiting for gobbo support, but the fans demand it! If you're saving them for a book, and that book isn't PH3, I will start flipping tables in a rage at random!! HOBGOBLIN WARLORDS!!! :fight!: Just as long as I can make a psionic goblin ill be happy for some reason I like the idea of a blue skinned telepathic goblin. I think I'd be happy with a feat that makes a goblin a "blue", sorta like the Sun Elf/Moon Elf feats in the FRPG. |
| #21KoboldAvengerJul 01, 2009 15:19:10 | Both goblins and hobgoblins make good bards, but Hobgoblins are simply better Valor Bards. Goblins seem to be a really good fit with Rogues especially Artful Dodgers, and pretty good Wild Mage Sorcerers, Fey Warlocks really seems to fit Goblins well. As for Hobgoblins, I think Warden is a very good fit. You get the chance to save as much as 3 times in 1 round against an effect you just can't shake. |
| #22shamhatJul 01, 2009 20:35:12 | STILL NO ARTICLE?? How much patience do they think we have? Haven't I already answered that question already? And what is all of this silly nonsense about what we goblins are good at?? We are the greatest there is at everything we do -- or we will be once we bend these weak-kneed Wizards to the strength of our will! |
| #23mercaiusJul 02, 2009 0:18:10 | I am totally in favor of a Playing Goblins article though (just Gobs, not Hobs and Bugbears). You say these things, and it cuts me, Blaze. *sniffle* Hobgoblins have actually always been my favorite of the bunch, but I tend to agree with the idea of a 3-race article. Maybe even throw in norkers, just for extra time in the spotlight with the more obscure race! |
| #24anubis_reynardJul 02, 2009 1:03:15 | I'vee actually been toying int the builder with a Goblin Greatweapon Fighter with the Mark of Passage- with Trickster's Blade modifying Footwork Lure into granting big shifts, and Catspaw Style + Rushing Cleats + Polearm Momentum to prone the enemy. (using the small non-reach polearm in the EPG) |
| #25CaptnMorgrimJul 02, 2009 2:28:52 | Can't help but agree, give 'em little buggers, 'em better organized buggers and 'em bigger buggers what they deserve - a full racial writeup. I don't think that a racial writeup in Dragon Mag would stop WOTC from publishing Goblinoids as a player later on in a PHB - they did that with the Warforged too. Cheers! Captn M. |
| #26BelorinJul 02, 2009 2:40:34 | But there are so many more deserving races, like the Skulk!:D Bel |
| #27celticmuttJul 02, 2009 3:30:47 | Between MM1 and MM2, including the races known (or most suspected) to be in PHB3 (ie Minotaur & both Giths), none of the remaining races are so deserving to get a full racial article/write-up as the Goblinoids. Not the orcs, not the kenku, not the duergar, and especially not the kobold. Though satyrs and centaur could use a write-up .... |
| #28Black_Knight999Jul 04, 2009 17:36:27 | I agree, I would really love to see an article on goblins, hopefully with an option to wield versatile weapons one-handed (I really want to play my spear wielding gobbo from 3rd ed). An article on kobolds would be awesome as well. |
| #29CaericJul 05, 2009 16:32:28 | I'd like to see a Playing Goblinoids article, myself. It'd have, yes, the Bugbear, Hobgoblin, and Goblin races. It would also have racial feats (three or four times as many as normal; a good set for each race, with a few Goblinoid feats). It could even have a Goblinoid bloodline feat (thematic to the article, eh?). Then it'd have three or four paragon paths (one for each race and one goblinoids-in-general one), and an epic destiny (for all goblinoids) or two. It'd be a great article. And then the only Monster Manual races we wouldn't have as PC options officially would be orcs and gith. And the gith, we know, are coming. And I suppose technically doppleganger, but that's really just changeling. |
| #30Tharag_BoccJul 05, 2009 17:03:15 | It'd be a great article. And then the only Monster Manual races we wouldn't have as PC options officially would be orcs and gith. | #31vebrandssonJul 05, 2009 17:23:25 | STILL NO ARTICLE?? How much patience do they think we have? Haven't I already answered that question already? A link to the submission guidelines is posted on the dragon magazine site, send in something if you really want this. |
| #32celticmuttJul 05, 2009 17:49:18 | What about kobalds? Meh, who cares about them? :D |
| #33thescalesoffateJul 05, 2009 18:01:32 | Meh, who cares about them? :D I heard your mom does! Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh snap. |
| #34Tharag_BoccJul 06, 2009 0:41:45 | Meh, who cares about them? :D May I suggest you take some cover before the horde of rabid fans of those diminutive reptilians besiege you. ![]() Seriously though, regardless of the actually number of fans of the various iconic monster races (orcs, kobalds, and goblinoids) that the kobold fans are almost always the most vocal. It might only be small dog syndrome, but never the less such fans should not be underestimates. |
| #35Kobold_AvengerJul 06, 2009 7:50:51 | *grabs his pitchfork and torch* Death to those who would opress us!! :D |
| #36johnthedm7000Jul 06, 2009 11:56:23 | I definitely thing it's time for a playing Goblins Dragon article-not only do they have a wide fanbase, but they're an essential part of the Eberron campaign setting and a wonderful race for the upcoming shadow power source. |
