I've also been involved in errata threads for Sandstorm, Complete Psionic, Tome of Battle, Dragon Magic, Faiths of Eberron, and Cityscape, but I don't know how to search the Future Releases section to find the threads (many of them were from before the boards were updated).

I do have the compiled lists that I e-mailed to WotC customer service. Should I just dump them all here?

The Sandstorm thread

The Dragon Magic thread

The Faiths of Eberron thread

The Cityscape thread

I couldn't find the others; maybe you can remember some piece of text to help with the search. To find these on Google, I used the following text in the search box, including any quotes you see:

site:boards1.wizards.com essex "future releases" "cityscape" errata
Cheers!

Here is my cumulative info from the other two books. Some of my errata in the various threads is out of date (ie. I've learned that some things which I once thought were errors were not) but I'm a bit too busy at the moment to errata my errata.

Tome of Battle Errata:
The Human Crusader, Swordsage and Warblade starting packages (pages 12, 18, & 24) don't seem to take into account the bonus skill points that humans start with.

Miros Xavt (page 14) appears to be short 4 skill points.

The Swordsage's skill multiplier is listed as x6 instead of x4.

Crimson Mask (page 20) has 3 skill points too many. The writer appears to have given him a +2 racial bonus to Listen, Spot, and Search instead of a +1 bonus. Crimson Mask also has a longbow despite the fact that Swordsages are only proficient with Martial Melee Weapons and half-elves don't gain proficiency with the bow in the same manner as full-blooded elves.

Vardalak Axebearer (page 26) appears to be short 2 skill points and is missing the extra language that he gets for a high intelligence. He also has a 3rd level stance for which he fails to meet the level prerequisite.

Page 39, Table 3-1. The third from last line should read 13th-14th instead of 13th-4th.

Page 52's Burning Blade maneuver has no damage cap despite being a first level maneuver. I am unsure if this is an oversight or if it is actually meant to have no limit, but it seems unusual for a first level ability to allow theoretically unlimited damage. To contrast this, the first level Devoted Spirit maneuver Crusader's Strike has a maximum +5 bonus to it's effect.

Page 53 - The Firesnake maneuver's duration is listed as Instantaneous but the text portion states "A firesnake starts in an adjacent square. It can move up to 60 feet EACH ROUND. It can move out of your line of sight or line of effect, but you gain no special knowledge of the areas it moves into." The entry goes on to state that a creature can only be harmed by a firesnake once PER ROUND and that it only takes damage the first time the snake touches it. How does an effect with an instantaneous duration continue to move (and cause damage) each round?

Page 55 - Inferno Blast has a reflex save for half damage but provides no DC.

Page 56 - Why does Searing Blade require a standard action when the previous and next maneuvers in the chain (Burning Blade and Inferno Blade) require a swift action.

Page 57 - The first four entries should probably have alignment prerequisites.

The Shadow Blade Technique (p. 78) should probably have the [Cold] descriptor just as Burning Blade (p. 52) has the [Fire] descriptor.

Page 88's Leaping Dragon stance gives a 10 ft. enhancement to jump checks. Does this mean that your jump checks are made as if your speed were 10 feet greater, that you jump an extra 10 feet in distance every time you make a jump check, or that the word 'ft.' is in error and that the stance is actually supposed to grant a +4 bonus to the skill check?

Does page 88's Prey on the Weak maneuver use up one of your Attacks of Opportunity for the round?

Page 92's Leading the Charge also doesn't put a max cap on the damage dealt despite the fact that it is a first level stance.
Page 92'a Lion's Roar only works when you reduce your opponent to fewer than 0 hp. Does this mean that it doesn't work when facing undead and constructs, as these beings are destroyed at 0 hp and thus can never technically go below 0?

Page 97's Bloodclaw Master prestige class grants low-light vision but doesn't indicate what happens if you already have low-light vision. Same thing with scent. It also indicates that Shifter Bloodclaw Masters are treated as having the razorclaw trait when considering prerequisites for feats despite the fact that Shifters simply gain extra uses of their regular shifting ability rather than the temporary claws that normal members of this prestige class get. Thus Shifter feats such as Great Rend or Shifter Multiattack that depend on the claw attacks provided by the razorclaw trait are useless.

Page 99 - Rhaskana
Speed should be reduced to 20 because of armor (unless the character is in a Tiger Claw stance and uses the Tiger Claw Synergy prestige class ability to boost his speed). Since the claw attack option can only be used while shifting the attack modifier should be +11 (instead of +10) and the damage modifier should be +6 (instead of +2; which would have been wrong even if the strength bonus to damage had been added). The attack option Blood Meditation should be Blade Meditation. Mobility is not noted as an AC modifier on the AC line (it was actually noted on the line for a later example character).

Page 104 - Varand
The character's HD are listed as 14 instead of 15. The character is missing 1 hp (Assuming that the character took Warblade at first level instead of Fighter. If a level of Fighter was taken first then the hp are fine. Since taking Warblade first causes the skill block to make sense we'll assume that this is the case). The possessions line of text indicates that the character has a +1 Dwarven Waraxe while the attack line indicates that it is a +2 Dwarven Waraxe. This character's skill block lacks the dwarven racial bonuses.

Page 108 - Karthak
The character's Keen Greataxe should have a threat range of 19-20. This character's skill block is incorrect. The character should have 16 skill points (26 for Fighter, 6 for Deepstone Sentinel, and -16 from intelligence). Taking the character's total skill modifier (10), and figuring in his armor check penalty (-5) gives a result of 15 points. The character is one skill point short. The character also lacks the dwarven racial bonuses to skills.

Page 113 - Aedor
The stat block list the character's disciplines as including Desert Wind, Stone Dragon and Tiger Claw despite the fact that the character doesn't seem to have taken maneuvers in any of them and despite the fact that the prestige class doesn't grant access to them. This character's skill block is incorrect. Although Concentration became a class skill for the character because of the Martial Study (Diamond Mind) feat Diplomacy remains a cross-class skill because the character didn't take the Martial Study (White Raven) feat. The character is also missing the elf racial bonuses to Listen, Search, and Spot checks.

Page 118 - Kuthar
The character's IL should be 8 instead of 7 (rounding down the wizard level). The character is missing the two bonus feats gained from Wizard levels.

Page 121 - Vaunred
The character could not have met the feat prereqisite for his prestige class at the level it was taken. The character's Improved Unarmed Strike feat should not grant him d6 damage dice with unarmed attacks. That is a special ability of the Monk class. The Listen modifier of +3 at the top of the entry doesn't match the modifier of +8 in the skills entry. The character is missing 1 stance, has 3 maneuvers too many, and has 2 readied maneuvers too many. This character's skill block is incorrect. The character should have 91 skill points (60 for Swordsage, 18 for Master of Nine, and 13 from being human). Taking the character's total skill modifiers (119), and accounting for their ability modifiers to skills (19), synergy modifiers (8), and an armor check penalty to skills (-4) you gain a total of 96 points. If we assume that the Listen modifier should be +3 instead of +8 (as noted at the top of the entry block) they the skill block will be correct.

Page 125 - Ereth
The character is listed as being a follower of St. Cuthbert (including having access to St. Cuthbert's domains) despite being a member of a prestige class that requires you to worship Wee Jas. The character's hp are too low (they apparently gave the Crusader levels d8's instead of d10's). This character's skill block is incorrect. The character should have 64 skill points (28 for Crusader, 2 for Cleric, 12 from Ruby Knight Vindicator, 11 from intelligence, and 11 from being human). Taking the character's total skill modifiers (64), and accounting for their ability modifiers to skills (12), the bonus from the Blade Meditation feat (2), speed penalty to Jump checks (-6), and an armor check penalty to skills (-10) you gain a total of 66 points.

Page 130 - Doomveil
The character should be gaining 8 stunning fist uses per day instead of 6 (the prestige class specifically notes that its levels count as monk levels for this purpose). This character's skill block is also incorrect. The character isn't gaining the synergy bonus to Diplomacy that their ranks in Sense Motive should grant.

Page 124 - Table 6-1 is missing the fort save penalty entry at 9th level (the entry on the chart is totally blank).

Page 135 - The Faithful Avenger should be noted as granting either Detect Evil or Detect Good.

Page 140 - Table 6-5 indicates that the blade improves to a +3 Defending Mithril Short Sword at both levels 16 and 18.

Page 144 - Tiger Fang's Frenzied Charge ability doesn't indicate if the second attack is made at your full attack bonus or if it is at a -5 penalty. Table 6-8 also seems to indicate that the weapon never improves beyond being a +1 keen weapon. Is this correct?

Page 149 - The Crown of Ravens item doesn't indicate how maneuvers that it grants are recovered.

Page 151 - The Rakshasa's greatsword should list a 19-20 critical range.

Page 153 - The ecology of the Naityan Rakshasa section indicates that it doesn't need to eat. As a native outsider it actually does need to eat.

Page 157 - The Valkyrie's slam attacks are off. Natural attacks are normally covered by the Weapon Finesse feat but are not affected by two-weapon fighting penalties. Thus the attacks should be 3 points higher than listed.

Cool, I updated the OP.

Here's some books that aren't yet included. Anyone recall an errata thread for them?
DMG II
Magic Item Compendium
Champions of Valor
Magic of Incarnum

Lords of Madness
Races of the Dragon
Races of Destiny
Races of the Wild
Races of Stone

I don't recall a races of the dragon errata thread, but I have found a piece you might want to add for it.

pg100: Dragonqrought Kobolds are granted darkvision 60, the same ability granted to all kobolds anyway.

Next to this thread there also used to be "The 3.5 (potential) errata thread". It's in the archive now, after it was unstickied some months ago. I've added a lot of Races of the Wild potential errata there.

There are probably more errata threads in the archive. I'll see if I can dig them out.

Edit: Found some (didn't check for doubles):
Libris Mortis Errata thread
Frostburn Errata thread
Complete Arcane Errata thread
Warlock errata by Rich Baker
Stormwrack errata
Heroes of Horror errata
Hellspike errata
Monster Manual IV errata
Tome of Magic errata
Fiendish Codex I errata
Tome of battle errata
Dragon Magic errata
Faiths of Eberron errata
PHB II errata
Complete Psionic
Powers of Faerun errata

I also clearly remember a Spells Compendium and several Races of X errata threads, but I am unable to find them anymore.

Are you thinking about this thread? There's some stuff in there, but it seems a little too spread out to be useful. I guess there's this one too, but it seems like a similar problem.

A few of these already have official errata.

I knew that, but I was unsure to what extent the official errata and the threads I posted overlapped, as I've not read all posts in each of them. As this thread is a resource for finding community created errata lists, I thought it advantageous to put links to any errata thread I could fine, not only those that do not have an official errata yet.

I basically went though the entire archive on Future releases and General and put a link in for every thread I found that at least contained a valid amount of usefull errata.

It would be up to anyone inside WotC working on errata to compare the issues in the lists in this thread with those known internally and published.

Just for the record, I am planning on compiling a list of known errata for Races of the Wild. Most of those I know are already in the generic errata thread I posted above, but it's my personal gripe and I'll put my time where my mouth is, to make it as easy as possible on the WotC folks to put out an errata. This however will take some time, so probably needs a quiet weekend end of may/early june.

Since this is the errata metathread...I thought I'd toss out the following:

unoffical d20 Modern Errata.
Draft Errata and FAQ
Draft d20 Future Errata

all of the above is sadly unoffical

Well, this being the dnd forum, I don't know if we should make it overly general. Maybe it would make more sense to start an errata metathread on the d20 modern forum?

I would keep it here, having one big "meta" thread, is exactly the reason you started this, right?

I wonder if any of the nice folks at WotC have any comments about when new errata might be expected?

We're still waiting for some more feedback on our current books. Since this is a new way of doing the process, we're still figuring it out. We're very close to establishing our errata criteria so the process will be faster in the future. If you have any suggestions for good errata criteria, send me a PM (or make a new thread if you want to discuss it here; I don't want to derail this one).

"Errata criteria" should be what you think constitutes a significant error. We want the errata documents to be useful and significant. Listing every single error means errata will be less useful and will feel like a waste of time to anyone reading it. So what are the kinds of errors that really irk you and significantly impact your game?

We're very close to establishing our errata criteria so the process will be faster in the future. If you have any suggestions for good errata criteria, send me a PM (or make a new thread if you want to discuss it here; I don't want to derail this one).

"Errata criteria" should be what you think constitutes a significant error. We want the errata documents to be useful and significant. Listing every single error means errata will be less useful and will feel like a waste of time to anyone reading it. So what are the kinds of errors that really irk you and significantly impact your game?

I have a question is the new round errata only limited to the D&D line or will it also extened to the other RPG lines?

We're starting with new releases, and going back to older books is only an option if we have time for it. As far as including errata on any new books for other lines (I wonder which one you're referring to ;)), that's TBD. With Star Wars Saga Edition releasing, we'll need to figure that out.

I understand starting with new products first but I'd strongly urge WOTC to find the time, or devote the resources, to releasing errata for older books too, at least the ones that don't have any. There's a huge gap in errata releases and a lot of those books need errata.

I know personally it would go a long way toward restoring some of the faith I've lost in WOTC. As it is it feels like the mentality is that the company can just turn out anything and we'll gladly lap it up. There's been a really noticeable decrease in the quality of the releases, I'd like to see an upturn in the quality of the new stuff as well as errata for the existing stuff.

I'm sorry? this is really confusing me, with the amount of player compiled errata on this web sight it would seem to be reasonably easy to put to gather the errata for older books. you might have to push off the more complex questions and answerers with a statement like "we are studding this issue and how best to resolve it. " but most of the problems are readily answered. If your having to have mutable meetings to decide if a Duskblade was meant to have simple weapon proficiency than you are doing some thing vary wrong.
So put out a memo that says that and the 90% of the other problems that can be answered with out any difficulty. then send it to the relevant people in R&D etc( if this is more than a dozen people, whittle it down) with a 24h window for comment before publication. Then after that parts out of the way go back and tackle the big questions with a big round table discussion or how ever you do it.That part is really impotent and will take longer. If you can't do it in that kind off fashion because of corporate policy's than the policy's need to be altered so you can. If Criss, Scott and the other bigger fish cant get the polices changed then all the fish may end up without enough water. Gamers are expecting all game company's to be nimble not ponderous. Look I know that I expect things to happen fast, i work in a industry that has insane time pressure, in 21 to 30 days we shot a 2h TV Movie, 1h TV show in 7 days, and most small feature 60 to 90 days some times less. If its smaller than a fridge we don't ship by land we Fed-X it over night. we work 13h days minimum all the time some times 7 days a week.
The last two "Errata " posts on the main web sight are not errata there more like drooped content. It's been almost a month since Criss said that errata was a priority and that more resources were being brought to bare on the issue. In that time WotC has made two easy posts. That seems rather slow given the priority that the customer and management have placed on the issue.
Let me state that this is not meant as a attack on you Logan or any other employ at WotC but rather a revive of what appearers to be a bureaucracy out of control. I can think of no other reason for this kind of delay other than it being deliberate or a case of incompetence neither of which can i see or except as being the problem.:D :D

I understand that, and truly do expect that new releases will receive errata first. However, we've also been promised increased editorial staff so one would hope that we'd be seeing fewer errors.

Personally, I think that errata should become WOTC's top priority. Yes, it's nowhere near as "sexy" as releasing new products but quite frankly, the quality of the new products flat out sucks. The level of errors we're seeing in current products is unacceptable. New products might mean sales figures but right now the impression that I get is that WOTC is content to continue pumping out shoddy product and then doesn't want to stand behind them with support. Honestly, I'm flat out not buying, and it has nothing to do with the magazines being discontinued (I never bought either magazine), but the shift in attitude I'm talking about.

There's a good list of books that have come out recently, and not so recently, that I'd like to purchase but I'm just not going to do it unless I see WOTC putting some real effort into improving the quality of new releases and fixing the mistakes in existing ones.

WotC needs to hire a proofreader, and I nominate Essex. He does so much quality work without pay, I imagine it'd be relatively cheap to get him as an independent contractor and avoid most of this garbage from getting out in the first place.

And you're welcome, Essex; I have no problem speaking for you.

As luck would have it I am currently out of work (I quit my proofreading job of 10 years so that I could move to Florida and take care of my grandmother) and looking for ANY potential source of income. While I couldn't relocate I do have a high speed internet connection that would allow me to receive large text files. Of course, if I proofread the new products before they were released what would be left for me to post on the message boards?;)

I'm not sure WOTC has more errata than others since frankly, there isn't any other thing we can match it with.

When I was a TA, I was always told, "NEVER, EVER, use the examples/formulaes given in a math/physics book if it was a 1st edition without doublechecking yourself". Yet these are crunch which have been known/used for decades.

The fact is, 1st editions in math/physics books are always rife with errors and this is true for the crunch of the WOTC products. I mean, how much errata did people find in say "Expedition to Castle Ravenloft"?

One thing the folks at Wizards should seriously consider is establishing an errata coordinator. This is how other game companies handle errata.

Steve Jackson Games, for example, has a volunteer who goes through the errata submissions, makes sure they are potential errata and not a misunderstanding, then submits this list to the line editor. The line editor periodically reviews all submitted errata, confirms or refutes it, and passes this back to the coordinator. It then gets posted on the Errata webpage. There you can find errata for any book they publish. If a book has no errata, they tell you.

Errata for all the WotC books needs to be compiled, not just the new books. While it is important to make sure that the new books are correct (or corrected when errors are found), the same is true for older books. Just because a book is newer doesn't mean it is more important.

Personally, I think WoTC is doing this the right way. Firstly, they need to establish a system of errata and thus the establishment of criteria becomes the primary objective to this date. I also believe they are doing the right thing by working on the new books, the bomb has already gone off on the old ones, might as well diffuse the new ones rather than pick up the pieces of the old for now. Honestly, I read through a couple of the errata threads and I found most of it a waste of time. If I can figure it out on my own, I dont need an errata for it.

To me the criteria for the errata should be to only change things that have an actual game impact, ie what action does a specific ability require, game balance issues, left out material etc. The NPC is only as valuable as the new information..if the new information is represented correctly then I personally don't care about the rest.

I haven't gone though the book with a fine comb yet, but there are a couple of things in this book, that I know need an errata. I will add more to this post when I find them. Below are my suggested fixes for the problem texts, see also the link to the "The 3.5 (potential) errata thread" above (comments in italics):

p 108 Replace the Wild Shape text with the following:
Wildshape (Su): An Arcane Hierophant with levels in Druid can add his Arcane Hierpophant levels to his Druid levels and will gain the Wildshape ability of a Druid of the resulting level. For example a character who is a 3rd level Wizard/4th level Druid/1st level Arcane Hierophant has the Wildshape ability of a 5th level Druid. If you do not have levels in Druid, you do not gain the ability to Wildshape, for example as a Sorcerer/Ranger/Wildrunner/Arcane Hierophant.
The text has two issues:
- It is unclear if a Wiz3/Drd4/AH1 has Wildshape, Jesse Decker and Andy Collins say yes, Rich Redman and Ed Spark say no, the above assumes the first are correct, as it also makes the example NPC work correctly.
- A Wizard/Ranger can not qualify for the PrC

p 168 Replace the first sentence of the Leafweave armor material with this:
Leafweave: As the name suggests, leafweave armor is made from forest leaves, which are then treated with a special alchemical process that makes them as tough and flexible as leather, but with only 2/3 the weight and encumberance.
The current text does not specify how much Leafweave weighs less, and it can not be gleaned from table 7-2

p 168 Update the following weights in table 7-2:
Leafweave padded 7 lbs.
Leafweave leather 10 lbs.
Leafweave hide 18 lbs.
This would be the weights using 2/3 weight

p 168 Add the following lines to the description of the Thistledown armor material:
The arcane spell failure chance for Thistledown armor is reduced by 5% compared to ordinary armor of the same sort. The armor's maximum Dexterity bonus is increased by +2, and it's armor penalty (if any), is lessened by 2.
The Thistledown items in table 7-2 have these properties

p 168 The cost of Thistledown padded in Table 7-2 should be 305 gp.
This would bring it in line with the cost mentioned in the text, but it is very low, so for game balance it might be better to change the text

p 168 Update the costs and weights of the following Wildwood items in Table 7-2:
Wildwood chain shirt 700 gp
Wildwood scale mail 650 gp
Wildwood chainmail 750 gp
Wildwood breastplate 800 gp
Wildwood splint mail 800 gp 34 lbs.
Wildwood banded mail 850 gp 26 lbs.
Wildwood half-plate 1200 gp
Wildwood full plate 2100 gp
This brings the cost and weight values in line with the written text

That's certainly clear, and even understandable. However, I'd really like to see them put some effort into this now. I'm really torn here, I really like what I'm hearing so far about 4ed and the design process but I'm also really annoyed that WOTC has been putting out poor quality products, rife with errors for some time now and they've done little or nothing to address them. Yes, I understand that development efforts were shifted to 4ed but they also need to support their current product. It'd be a really nice good-will effort if they would put out errata for the releases that are missing them, at least, not to mention those that have errata and yet still have problems that still haven't been addressed.

The PHB2 errata is up. It seems to address practically every issue noted in the errata thread.

Now I'm hoping that I hear back from Stephen Radney-MacFarland before the Magic Item Compendium errata comes out. He e-mailed me in early May looking for help finding errata (since nobody seemed willing to crunch their way through nearly 300 pages of magic item blocks) in exchange for a factory set of Night Below miniatures. I finished going through the book in late May and he e-mailed me in late July to let me know that the minis were being shipped once the set was released. I e-mailed him again over three weeks ago to ask if they'd ever been shipped and have yet to hear a reply.

The new errata document seems to cover practically everything that I'd noted when I checked the book a few months ago. The main thing I've noted is that many of the possible problems that deal with item cost seem to have been left out. Below is my compiled errata including every error, question, and munchkin rules lawyer whine (never base a rule on the common sense of the reader since many readers lack common sense) that I found for the book.

Magic Item Compendium Errata: Chapter 1

pg. 7 - Averter - What happens if enemies are already within 30 feet? What happens if you move towards enemies while the effect is active?

pg. 7 - Balance/Balance, greater/Balance, Improved - Change the school from Abjuration to Divination.

pg. 7 - Bane Blind - The last sentence indicates that when you randomly roll an Outsider entry on the table you must select a subtype. Since the table already seperates Outsiders into lawful, chaotic, good, and evil subtypes does this mean that you have to choose a further subtype (such as angel, guardinal, eladrin, etc.) or is the text in error?

pg. 9 - Blueshine - Change the school from Abjuration to None.

pg. 11 - Ectoplasmic Wall - The phrase "the wall has an area of up to ten 10-foot squares" is confusing. How does a two inch thick wall fill a 10 foot square? I think that the wording should be "the wall is up to 100 feet long."

pg. 11 - Fearsom - The entry should note that it is a mind-affecting fear effect.

pg. 12 - Manifester - Change the school from Abjuration to None.

pg. 13 - Menacing - The entry should note that it is a mind-affecting fear effect.

pg. 14 - Soulbound - Change the school from Abjuration to Transmutation.

pg. 16 - Barricade Buckler - Is the wall of force stationary? Do you keep the buckler's AC bonus while the wall of force is in effect? Does the buckler reappear on your arm after the duration of the wall of force ends?

pg. 18 - Exoskeleton Armor - This armor grants the exact same benefits as +1 Axeblock Spearblock armor yet costs 4000 gp less.

pg. 19 - Kyton Armor - How many times per day can the chain attack be activated? How long does the effect last once activated?

pg. 20 - Mithralmist Shirt - What effect does wind have on the mist?

pg. 23 - Vampire Hide Armor - The Item Level is listed as 17th yet the listed price would give it an Item Level of 15th.

pg. 24 - Wrapped Tower - What is the range of the effect?

pg. 24 - Zombie Hide Armor - This armor grants the exact same benefits as +1 Hammerblock Spearblock armor yet costs 9000 gp less.

pg. 25 - Crystal of Arrow Deflection - Change the school from Divination to Abjuration.

pg. 26 - Crystal of Screening - Change the school from Abjuration to Conjuration.

pg. 26 - Iron Ward Diamond - Change the school from Evocation to Abjuration.

Magic Item Compendium Errata: Chapter 2

pg. 27 - The Hardness and Hit Points entry indicates that each point of enhancement bonus increases hardness and hp by 1 each. It actually increases hardness by 2 and hp by 10. This was an error in the DMG that was fixed in an errata document.

pg. 28 - Aquan - This property indicates that it overcomes the DR of a specific subtype of creature. Does this include Epic DR and DR/--? Change the school from Evocation to None.

pg. 28 - Arcane Might - Although not actually errata, I'd like to comment that this is a REALLY lousy ability which I cannot foresee anybody ever willingly applying to an item. Sacrificing a spell slot to potentially deal extra damage on a single attack equal to the spell slot used is very weak. The Arcane Strike feat from Complete Warrior is much better and is still a relatively poor use for spell slots (although the feat was integral to an excellent character that I once played).

pg. 28 - Auran - This property indicates that it overcomes the DR of a specific subtype of creature. Does this include Epic DR and DR/--? Change the school from Evocation to None.

pg. 31 - Consumptive - The text states that the effect "does not harm you as long as you have the weapon in hand." Does that mean that it will harm you if you drop the weapon? Since it only inflicts damage "on a successful hit" then the answer should be no, but if that were true then the first section of text is largely redundant. Does the negative energy have any special effect on undead?

pg. 31 - Corrosive - The text states that the effect "does not harm you as long as you have the weapon in hand." Does that mean that it will harm you if you drop the weapon? Since it only inflicts damage "on a successful hit" then the answer should be no, but if that were true then the first section of text is largely redundant.

pg. 32 - Deadly Precision - Does the effect also apply to somebody with the Skirmish class feature?

pg. 32 - Desiccating Burst - The Desiccating quality indicates that it only works against living creatures but the Desiccating Burst quality does not list this limitation. This would allow the ability to suck the water out of Constructs (like stone golems) and Undead (like skeletons and ghosts). The text to this ability also indicates that the Desiccating quality requires an action to activate, but the Desiccating quality seems to indicate that it is always on.

pg. 33 - Domineering - Unlike many similar abilities, this entry does not state that a creature that makes it's saving throw will be immune to the effect for 24 hours. The entry also doesn't note that the ability is a mind-affecting effect.

pg. 33 - Doom Burst - This should be noted as being a mind-affecting fear effect.

pg. 33 - Dragonhuter - Change the school from Transmutationtion/Necromancy to Transmutation.

pg. 34 - Eager - Change from Evocation to Transmutation.

pg. 34 - Energy Aura - Change the school from Evocation to Conjuration/Evocation/Transmutation.

pg. 34 - Energy Surge - Change the school from Evocation to Conjuration or Evocation or Transmutation (depending on prerequisite).

Magic Item Compendium Errata: Chapter 6

In the previous chapters of the book I noted many item aura schools as possible errors because the items didn't include any spells and the text on page 4 stated that "if the item requires only universal spells, or if it requires no spells, this reads "no school."." Page 218 indicates that even items without spell prerequisites can have an aura based on school of magic. Which page is correct? If it is page 218 then what is the meaning of the chart text "and so on?" Does that entry only apply to items that give bonuses or to all items that do not fit in any other category? Which items should have the "no school" designation?

Additionally, page 220 provides rules to determine save DCs against the effects of magic items. Do all items that allow saving throws use this formula? Should I go through all of the entries in the book to see if the DCs for items that allow saving throws versus their effects are correct?

pg. 220 - The top of the page uses a +2 flaming greataxe as an example of an item that doesn't need to be activated before use. Flaming weapons do need to be activated before use.

pg. 229 - Table 6-7 - Change 13 + 8 to 14 (13 + 8) and change 15 + 13 + 8 to 17 (15 + 13 + 8).

pg. 234 - In the example provided at the bottom of the page should the price of either the new addition to the magic item or the original item be increased by 1.5 because you are adding a new effect to an existing item (in accord with the rules from page 233) or are the effects on Table 6-11 exempt from that rule to encourage players to buy unique items for slots that are traditionally used by popular items (rings of protection, cloaks of resistance, ability boosters, etc.)?

pg. 283 - The last entry on the +9 Bonus table has an asterix notation. Why?

What about D20 Modern,URban arcana,future etc...

I consulted my magic 8 ball about this. I asked, "Will there ever be errata for the other D20 games?" I afraid the answer was "Concentrate and ask again."

So I concentrated and asked again, and got "Cannot predict now."

I tried again an hour later and got "My sources say no."

Sorry.

Not one of the last four posts has been constructive. You shouldn't derail this thread with garbage. It's likely to be counterproductive. I've been as vocal as any in my disappointment to date with a lack of proofreading and no errata, but things are clearly changing. To continue to pick at WotC over this issue at this point will lead them to take a "damned if we do, damned if we don't stance," which is never productive.

Well, you can look at it as an opportunity. Get some folks together and set up an "Official Unofficial D20 Modern" webpage, and put in your own errata fixes. If people playing accept the fixes as standard, then that's just as good.

Yep, that's certainly true for 3.5 once 4e is going. But right now it wouldn't really work. You might have your "unofficial" errata that everyone is supposed to agree to treat as canon, and then WotC might issue an errata or FAQ that contradicts it. If you're going to set yourself up as the authority, it helps if you don't have another higher authority getting into the picture.

I have certainly daydreamed about a "3.5 users group" that would go through and tighten up the 3.5 rules in the places that WotC doesn't hit. They could even be hosted on Gleemax, as I understand how that will work.

Complete Mage errata is up and can be found here. I'll probably post some FAQ-type material addressing why certain issues didn't make it into the errata.

You can find other errata discussion on this thread, where I've posted some explanation of what appears in errata and answered some questions.

With regards to d20 modern—I wouldn't yet give up on it. I suspect (and this is only my uninformed opinion) that we will seriously revisit d20 modern at some point in the future. At this point, though, with the advent of 4E, it would be better to put our attention toward the future (of D&D and d20 modern).

okay the npcs statblocks are the least of the problems with the books. Most cases its minor errors like plus or minus 3 hp, maybe a few extra skill points or lack there of. Maybe the thing doesn't meet the writen preqs for the prc. These errors don't make the NPCs unplayable for a DM and aren't going to cause issues or problems in game other then people just being nitpicky.

You think that the NPC problems mostly amount to minor errors involving a few hp and a couple of skill points? Where did you get that idea?

Go to the first post on page one of this thread and click on the Complete Mage link. The errors on the majority of the NPCs are pretty massive. Wrong saving throw DCs are given for spells and spell-like abilities. The wrong caster level is listed for spells. AC is off by as much as 5 points. Wrong damage dice are listed for weapons. Wrong attack bonuses are given. One character is missing a large number of spell slots.

As for being a few points off on hp and skills, there is one character who has 30 hp too many and another with 21 skill points too many. These are hardly minor errors.

Yes, I'm sure all of these will completely throw the game into chaos. And ruin everything. This is dnd, just come up with a reason for why its that way and get on with your life. The guy missing spells used some in the morning to fight those pesky kids. The one with the 30 extra hp drank a potion that gave him some temp hp. The 5 extra AC guy is just "very lucky", maybe even blessed by a divine force. The one with the extra skills invoked some unknown and lost rule in the game to get them.

These things will not impact the game, its that simple. Sure we should be riduculing WotC for letting these errors through so that they don't let it happen in the future. But when it comes to erratas there hell of alot more important then fixing impactless NPCs, such as releasing erratas FOR ALL THEIR BOOKS LIKE THEY SHOULD BE DOING*.

* As I understand it their current plan is to cut and run when it comes to errating most of their books, which is pretty poor method of convining us that this new magical edition won't suffer the same problems the last did under their management.

We are aware of the problems with NPC stat blocks, but the problems are not game-altering. The purpose of errata is to clarify and address rules and information that makes something unreadable or easily misinterpreted. The NPC stat blocks, while having fallacious pieces of information, are nonetheless usable without adverse effects on one's game.

They all sat around in a conference room one day, a bit bored and a little burned out about 4e stuff. "We need something fun to distract us from these silly games!" one of them declared. "Let's screw with the people on the message boards!" another said.

And so they sat and sat and talked and talked, tossing out all sorts of cruel and bizarre pain they could inflict upon us with merely words. Finally, one of them said, "Hey, you know. Implosion is an SRD spell, but from what source did you get the feats?

Implosion (SRD)
Show

Implosion
Evocation
Level: Clr 9, Destruction 9
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Targets: One corporeal creature/round
Duration: Concentration (up to 4 rounds)
Saving Throw: Fortitude negates
Spell Resistance: Yes

You create a destructive resonance in a corporeal creature’s body. For each round you concentrate, you cause one creature to collapse in on itself, killing it. (This effect, being instantaneous, cannot be dispelled.)

You can target a particular creature only once with each casting of the spell.

Implosion has no effect on creatures in gaseous form or on incorporeal creatures.

They shouldn't be attacking books directly. They should be attacking issues and accept issues from all books (including the PHB) to settle the topics that need errata.

I think it is a waste of their effort to answer 20 issues in Complete Champion when only 2 or 3 ever cause trouble. The 17 other issues they spend time fixing could be better spent (the time) fixing issues in other books. Same effort, more return on their effort.

I think it is a waste of their effort to answer 20 issues in Complete Champion when only 2 or 3 ever cause trouble.

Only 2 or 3 cause trouble? Even leaving aside the horribly wrong NPC stat blocks for which they're never going to provide errata, there are a lot more than 2 or 3 major problems.

Also, it is not a waste of effort. Customer service gets a lot of questions about these sorts of things. Half of those questions would likely disappear if there were an errata document. Half the questions means half the workload. Half the workload means half the workers. Half the workers means half the cost. This is a simplification, but it illustrates the point that providing errata is therefore a cost saving measure.

Finally, there is the matter of customer satisfaction and the impact that this has on their business. Since realizing that not only does WotC fill their books with faulty stat blocks (of the books I've read over the last 2 years, over 90% of the stat blocks seem to contain errors), but that they have no intention of providing errata for these errors and are, in fact, dragging their feet on other types of errata, I have greatly changed my purchasing habits.

I did not purchase the Monster Manual 5 under the assumption that, if they can't get two dozen stat blocks correct in their other books, there was no way that I'd be able to trust the quality of a book that is nothing but stat blocks.

I do not purchase adventures, even ones that contain new spells, items, feats, and abilities that are found nowhere else. Adventures contain large numbers of stat blocks, which I've already determined are bound to contain huge numbers of errors that they don't care enough to fix. This is unfortunate for WotC, since I own ten Forgotten Realms books, but have not and will not purchase any of the hardcover Realms adventures that they've produced in recent years.

I do not plan to purchase 4th edition at the time of the initial release. This has nothing to do with a dislike of the system that I've seen in their previews; the system looks interesting and I'd be perfectly willing to give it a try. My problem is that I am unconvinced they are capable of producing these products without a significant number of errors. Until the 4th edition has been out long enough to view the feedback, I won't be using it.

The one positive of this lack of errata is that it gives me extra money with which to extend my RPG horizons. Since I've stopped buying certain types of WotC products, I've used that extra money to purchase 7 hardcover RPG books from Steve Jackson Games. Every single one of the books has had errata provided in a timely manner and in an easy to use format (no stupid PDFs) on the Steve Jackson Games website. The errata is also updated regularly as new errors are discovered (three of my books had their errata updated last month).

I hope They "Sober" up enough there to realize that stopping 3.5 errata will be a bad idea. How can people expect you to clean up the messes you will make in the future when they just leave the mess they have already not even half-cleaned. I would love to see all the omissions in the spell compendium filled in (I checked the Errata, you missed Holy and Unholy storm), as well as info on what happens, if anything, when a warlock is no longer evil/chaotic. Yeah, that was a bit disappointing to me too. I just now checked it, because it seems some vital information about the 9 Swords seems to be missing.

When I read the chapter about the 9 Swords and how to unlock their power etc., I assumed that the 3 rituals you have to perform unlocked each a part of the list of powers per characterlevel. That's what is suggested from descriptions of some powers. But nowhere is stated what rituals unlock what powers. Each sword has a list of 3 rituals, (Least, Lesser and Greater) and they unlock the Least, Lesser and Greater Legacy of the sword. But what the heck are these Legacies?!?! What am I missing here???

I hesitate to ask... but what exactly is this thread doing in the 4e Future Releases forum?

Hrm.... this is a pretty old post, but I'll ask anyway.

Whenever I click the link for the Dragon Magic errata, I am sent to the Wizard's Forum base page.. never to a particular post. The links could be broken due to the Wizards website overhaul, perhaps. In any case, if these errata can be resurrected (the ones that aren't official, of course) that would be sweet. I'll even throw in no exp penalty.

I guess the old 3e Future Releases forum migrated to the 4e one.  I put a warning in the OP that this is for 3.5e material.

It's listed in the Weapons of Legacy Book, but they neglected to post it in Book of 9 for some reason... Fortunately, I managed to id up a copy of WoL in a yard sale.

Technically, you can do the rituals at level, but it won't kick in until later. Obviously, the 1rst level the weapon gets special weapons is when the 1rst ritual starts doing something. The others are 11 & 17. Not sure if it was intended to be different in ToB. Before we got the book, we did them up for 5, 10, & 15.

On a sad note, it's 2011 & they still haven't posted the proper errata for ToB.... and I'm still furious over it. Considering the popularity of that book, that's pretty bad on their part. How the heck is my group supposed to update it for 3.75?!
