| #1torras_dmOct 17, 2008 14:37:32 | I'm looking forward to Martial Power, but I'm made uneasy by some of the things I'm reading. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4ex/20081017a This class is a good idea, but then when you get down to the mechanical benefits one gets as an Eternal Defender, I don't see much that makes a character inherently a better defender than his other epic-level counterparts. Every one of his abilities augments his capacity to deal damage, not protect those more vulnerable. Even when the character gets an ability that increases her reach, she does not even gain some ability to better take advantage of Defender mainstays like a fighter's Combat Challenge and Combat Superiority. Someone talk me down on this, because I don't think I get it. |
| #2greatfritoOct 17, 2008 14:57:39 | I agree, but I think it's mostly a "name" problem. This guy just needed a different name, because "Defender" he is not. A multiclass Barbarian/Fighter may like this class (free Crit per day, if I can hit? That I can use on my 9[W]+ Rage Strike? Sounds nice). |

She's big, scary, and really strong - classic defender traits, even if they don't actually enhance the role in any way. Still, I agree the name and flavor text might be a bit off describing what the destiny actually does. |
