The story so far is one campaign setting per year supported by a Campaign Setting book, Player's Guide to, and adventure mods.

What has been released is

2008: Forgotten Realms, Aug for the CS and Sept for PG and Mod
2009: Ebberon
2010 and beyond: ????

Nothing else has been hinted, though all types of realms are mentioned in different texts that have been released by WotC, so who knows. For a forum on fan speculation and what we would want to see released check out this forum http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1046967

The problem is complex... some of those settings are, by example, dead for the public. Like Mystara, probably. Or may not reedited without heavy changes, a too high work....

So...

And then, you have the option of a NEW setting. More tied to current rules. A new start, and since new stuff attract attention...

Most likely to be revitalized for 4th edition, IMO;

Ravenloft
Dark Sun
Planescape
Dragonlance

Most unlikely to be revitalized;

Greyhawk
Mystara
Al Quadim

Ravenloft, with the recent announcement of actual novels coming soon, seems to be the msot likely for that 2010 publication.

I am up for a new good setting actually... not for me to play it, but ofc to steal ideas :P :D (i dming my homebrew world for more than a decade, with 3 playing ages)

but some settings can be very well adjusted. me, as a great planescape supporter, i always had the great wheel cosmology in my world... so planescape is really a SERIOUS implement for my world... the same goes with ravenloft. there is a domain in ravenloft from my world... and a "bad" demiplane always is cool anyway :P

i can understand not to put mystara in... (which always has a place in my heart since in this world i got rpg-adult...lool), but not all the settings are the same ;)

Classic fantasy RPG, made by the same guys who created Shadowrun (and in fact, tied to it (albeit they loosened much of the links)).
