If the latter, as I'm kind of reading it, then its much weaker than other encounter powers, notably the halfling's defensive power. +2 to defenses after you've been hit, which assumes you will be attacked again, isn't as good as a defense you can activate after being hit or even before being attacked. |
| #2ekkoAug 10, 2009 19:33:26 | Iron Mind interrupts the attack (hence immediate interrupt), so the bonus to your defenses applies to the triggering attack. Read up on the difference between immediate interrupt and immediate reaction. |
| #3Crimson_ConcertoAug 10, 2009 19:33:38 | It triggers when you are hit, but because it's an interrupt, you get the bonus to defenses before any consequence of your being hit takes place. The power can change whether or not you're hit just as the Shield spell or Staff of Defense can. Also, unlike the Halfling's Second Chance, your bonus to defenses granted by Iron Mind against the attack applies against more than just one attack and against more than one enemy. It's a perfectly fine racial power. |
