How Familiars/Animal Companions/Minions might work

in the new August and beyond artilce talks about a bag of trick that summons a minion that lasts the encounter.

"The creature obeys only you, responding to commands spoken in any language. The creature remains until the end of the encounter or for 5 minutes. The conjured creature acts on the same initiative count as you. Every action it takes costs you a minor action (which you use to issue commands), and a conjured creature cannot exceed its normal allotment of actions (a standard, a move, and a minor action) during its turn. If you spend no minor actions on your turn to command the creature, it remains where it is without taking any actions on its turn.

A conjured creature is a minion (MM 282). It has no healing surges and cannot be healed, and it cannot gain temporary hit points. When reduced to 0 hit points or fewer, the conjured creature disappears."

Fits into the design Philosophy of not giving a player more than 3 actions... could work for a familiar that would need to be summoned again if killed... (I imagine the familiar would last for more than an encounter) (also were are all of our little animals and regular people... hopefully in another supplement or PDF) Feels a bit weak for a druid animal companion, if they get one....

I see a familiar having hit points like = to a healing surge value or bloodied value of the one who summoned it. I see an animal companion having the bloodied value of companion worth of hit points.

If a familiar has 1 hit point then it is too vulnerable.

The actions will likely be like they are with the bag of tricks.

So, if they die, I guess it is a Ritual to get the familiar back.

I think we will see the return of spell "summon ally"...(summoned monsters are a good excuse to collecting monster. Even there will be again the symbiote monster like living items/weapons). Perhaps there will be news rules like companions/familiars..has their own XPs stock, like a new PC wich we have to share the PXs with.
