Hybrid Powers/PPs/EDs

Something I'd like to see in the future is hybrid powers, that count as both classes. Thus if they have anything that propergates off a hit, such as a fighters mark and a rogues sneak attack, it would propergate off this attack.

The key here though is the power is designed to be balanced for the combonation of applying the mark and causeing the sneak attack. Something like Special: If you get sneak attack with this attack, you may reduce your sneak attack by one die in order to also apply your fighters mark.

Then I'd also like to see new hybrid PPs such as the dragonfoe ragespeller and Epic destinies after that.

I guess about all that might be balanced for an at-will might be something like:

Hybrid Strike
Flavor Text
At-Will * Weapon, Varies
Standard Action  Melee Weapon
Target: One Creature
Attack: Highest ability modifier vs AC
Hit: You are considered to have dealt the target damage for the purposes of applying extra damage to this attack.
Special: This attack is considered an attack power from both of your classes.

You figure the lack of natural damage would help to balance against doubling up striker damage bonuses.

I don't see a problem with an encounter power doing 1W+Highest Mod damage and counting as both your classes though.

No Damon_Tor, I don't mean like generic hybrid powers like that. I'm saying powers that are built for two classes to be combied together. For example one like this for the Rogue and Warlock.

Encounter   *     Arcane, Fire, Weapon
Standard Action      Melee or Ranged weapon
Requirement: You must be wielding a light blade.

Target: One creature

attack: Dexterity or Constitution vs. Reflex

Hit: 3[W] + Constitution modifier fire damage, and the target is slowed until the end of your next turn. This damage ignores all resistances.

And this attack applies both your sneak attack and your warlocks curse. Of course you still need combat advantage and to apply the curse to do that.

A nice idea, but remember that there are currently 300 possible hybrid combinations. I can see the odd dragon article about popular combinations, or boosting cool combinations that currently don't work well, but I don't want to see it overdone. We definitely don't need powers for every possible combination.

I'd rather like to see updates to iron out a few kinks in the system, such as allowing fighters to mark on melee basic attacks. We'll see.

Another option are new feats for hybrids. And yes, I'm well aware that hybrids are already feat-strapped. However, a few synergies would come pretty handy:

- Swordmage/Warlock: When you put your Swordmage Aegis on an enemy, that enemy is also cursed.
- Fighter/Paladin: When marking an enemy with a fighter attack, you can mark it with Divine Challenge instead (this ends divine challenge on other enemies)
- Ranger/Rogue: Use either Sneak Attack or Hunter's Quarry on any attack, but not both in one turn

Well of course not every single combonation has to be there immediatly. A couple of powers thrown in here and there, especially for hybrids that are on the low end of the power stick of hybrids.

But as far as needing stuff? When have we ever needed anything?

This is just something cool that could be added to the game, like everything after the first three "core" books.

Here is one for Ranger|Rogue

Headshot    Encounter Rogue|Ranger
Must be using (Insert Rogue weapon limits)
Ranged    Weapon
Dex vs Ac
2[W]+Dex

Some paragon paths can be taken by more then on class or require you to have two specific classes would there attack powers count as both classes?

Could "Little bait" gaint slayer attack 11 Mark and get Quarry damage?
Would the Borderlands marshal's attacks count as both a ranger attack and a warlord attack?

There is a total of 4 paragon paths currently that would count as both classes.

If it was Fighter Or Rogue, then I do not belive that this counts.. Though it might. Actually.. I'm thinking a little more that it would count.

But I'm very positive if it says "Fighter and Sneak attack Class feature" then it will not count.

This is really the biggest thing I'm hoping for though on future releases, that they have more and more of these classes to allow a deeper blending between two classes.. Thus allowing "subclasses" such as duelist, which fits between Fighter and Rogue. Duskblade, fitting between Fighter and Swordmage... ect ect.

Positive that your positive thinking is right, that's why I did not bring up the fighter + infernal pact path from MP2 just the 2 from MP that have class names listed.

I was always hoping that after the power source books there would be a multiclass book. Most of wich would help a hybrid.
