Living divine is not run by Wotc, its from a third party developer the uses 4e. They sell scenerios from hobbes.viceandvillainy.org:4242/livingdi...

So its definately not the new campaign setting.

WotC is still getting their minds wrapped around Epic. They're not going any higher any time soon.

Thing is, Menzoberranzan, although as a campaign setting ala Neverwinter was for heroic tier being for paragon tier would be awesome; it doesnt strike me as the something new they havent done before. wether theme or mechanics wise. back when ravenloft was announced, the theme definately wasnt new, but the ability to start out as 1st level vampires, werewolves, and other creatures that go bump in the night definately was. same for something akin to an immortals campaign, we havent had theme or mechanics since the basic d&d immortals boxed set afaik. drow theme and mechanics weve had every edition.

I love Menzoberranzan as it was presented in the "War of the Spider Queen" series. It's an awesome city, but my vision of the city definitely is not one friendly to outsiders making an extended visit. We'll see how it goes. I'm sure it will be quality, but will it be what I'm looking to play? My vision of Menzoberranzan may or may not mesh with what's presented.

I suspect it also will be targetted at Paragon-tier play. That's great. More support is always nice, and it's a logical follow up to the Heroic-tier focus of the NWCG. That said, I think there are better options than a drow city in the Underdark, as cool as that may be. It's not exactly the most portable of venues, in comparison to some other options. Our homebrew drow are nothing like the drow of the Realms, nor are the drow of Eberron, our other preferred setting. I'm sure we're not unique, in that regard. Menzoberranzan is a cool backdrop, but it's the most versatile choice they could've made.

I posted the following in the "Running Eberron" forum. Stormreach, a frontier port-city in Eberron, would make an outstanding choice for a Campaign Guide, presenting a city that could be easily dropped into any campaign. It also has the advantage of having suitable challenges for players of every tier, Heroic through Epic, right there both in and around the city. It is a very suitable locale for this type of supplement. It may also have the added benefit of dispelling some misconceptions some DnD gamers have about the Eberron setting, eventually bringing more gamers into the world.

"I, like most here, would welcome an Eberron release of any sort. That said, Stormreach seems ideal for a NWCS-style supplement. The 3.5E Supplement City of Stormreach said this about the city:

"The city is small...A visitor to Sharn is likely to get lost in the teeming masses. You'll quickly get to know the people of Stormreach, and you'll have a chance to meet even the most important people in the city. Wander the market for a day, and you'll likely see Lord Lassite. Take a week and you might know half the artisans, all the innkeepers, and the city's magistrates..."

That sounds perfectly suited for this style of supplement, to me. There are numerous suitable threats for all three tiers of play, and you'll find political intrigue, criminal organizations, dungeons, urban adventures, mighty economic powers and other suitable sponsors/foes, and a vast, untamed frontier right outside your doorstep... it's perfect!

It could also be easily dropped into virtually any setting with minimal tuning, making it a versatile supplement (probably more so than Neverwinter). Are you playing in the Realms? Maybe it's a city on the coast of Chult. You could be fighting for or against Amnian interests, trekking into the jungles in search of ruins, battling natives of all sorts... a wild frontier city can work in any setting.

I really feel like Stormreach lends itself to this treatment even better than Neverwinter does, and that ended up being a fine product. It seems we're getting Menzoberranzan in 2012. If we aren't all reading 5E announcements by the time Summer 2013 rolls around, "The City of Stormreach Campaign Guide" sure would be a great product."
