| #1ax_kidsonApr 26, 2010 22:38:09 | With the set of figures known as the Icons series |
| #2kigvanApr 27, 2010 0:25:28 | I do not think that you will see a colossal gold as there is no longer a colossal category for 4th edition. Perhaps some of the demon princes or gods Orcus, Demogorgon, Tiamet - problem is whether these will actually generate enough sales to justify them. |
| #3araxissApr 27, 2010 9:25:23 | as there is no longer a colossal category for 4th edition. Wait..... What? Why? Also, Paizo has the Orcus Icon available for preorder which they say is to be released this year. |
| #4ChrisTheSApr 27, 2010 10:24:55 | There IS a colossal category for 4e, but so far it seems restricted to vehicles. As to why, colossal figures are awkward to move, and thus end up being set pieces more than dynamic creatures. |
| #5ranadielApr 27, 2010 10:59:40 | Also, Paizo has the Orcus Icon available for preorder which they say is to be released this year. You sure? The image on the paizo website looks different than the other orcus Icon images I can find. Also they call it Aspect of Orcus rather than just Orcus. The price does seem right though I suppsoe... |
| #6araxissApr 28, 2010 12:07:55 | This is the Gargantuan Icons Orcus, Prine of Undeath. (click this) This is the one you've seen pictures of, probably.![]() This is the Large Aspect of Orcus from the Archfiends set. (click this) ![]() I want that gargantuan Icons Orcus. |
| #7joydyheeApr 28, 2010 13:06:57 | Interesting...they are selling the aspect for more than the icon. |
| #822_Over_7Apr 28, 2010 14:10:08 | I didn't think pricing for Gargantuan Orcus was available yet. But the Aspect of Orcus has been out of print for a while, so is pretty difficult to get a hold of. |
| #9araxissApr 28, 2010 14:41:18 | Interesting...they are selling the aspect for more than the icon. Because it's rarer and because I think Paizo charges more for singles. |
| #10doctorhookApr 30, 2010 0:23:21 | There IS a colossal category for 4e, but so far it seems restricted to vehicles. As to why, colossal figures are awkward to move, and thus end up being set pieces more than dynamic creatures. Is there a colossal category for vehicles in 4E? My copy of AV1 only goes up to Gargantuan, as far as I can tell... The point is somewhat moot though; 4E's "Gargantuan" category allows for creatures and vehicles that would have been "Colossal" in 3.5E anyway. (Incidentally, D&D Icon: "Big Red" was technically larger than Colossal anyway; "normal" Colossal was 6x6, but Big Red was 8x8 -- a size category called "Colossal+" in 3.5's Draconomicon.) |
| #11the_fanApr 30, 2010 5:33:48 | Previously, a Dracolich was on the table. I think that is likely to show up again. Other candidates that I find likely: Demogorgon Ashardalon (filling the Red Dragon niche) One of each other Chromatic Tarrasque Elder Purple Worm Primordial Hydra Astral Dreadnought Dagon Everything else is either too new, too specific, only from the pages of Dragon/Dungeon, or otherwise just doesn't have what it takes to be a major Iconic figure. (Sorry, Angry Mob) |
| #12RPJesusApr 30, 2010 5:45:28 | Yeenoghu. Do it. Gogo. |
| #13the_fanApr 30, 2010 6:28:23 | Yeenoghu is only Large-size. He's plenty powerful for a Large, but he's not Gargantuan so he can't be an Icon. The following deities or other high-powered creatures are surprisingly NOT Gargantuan, despite being so in previous editions or just seeming like they should be: Huge: Tiamat Torog Bahamut Kyuss Colossus (Any variety) Baphomet Xixecal Primordial Naga Large: Yeenoghu Atropal Maglubiyet (god of Goblinoids) Medium: Graz'zt Dispater Therefore, these powerful monsters can be represented by figures in a normal minis pack. May even show up in a regular pack someday. I'd really like to see a Torog, Kyuss, or Tiamat Huge figure. They'd probably call them aspects, but it'd work just as well for the real deal. Edit: Particularly unusual note: As an artifact from Elder Evils (and thus a previous edition with different assumptions), Kyuss has a slightly lower level manifestation (Scion of Kyuss) that is bigger. |
| #14ADHadhMay 01, 2010 7:31:22 |
You see, the smaller version is more distilled, purer, hence much more dangerous ;) I'd like to see Yeenoghu as well, since he's been updated even before 4e started. |
| #15araxissMay 01, 2010 12:07:58 | Previously, a Dracolich was on the table. If I were a betting man I'd place bets on the dracolich being next. I'd LOVE to see a dracolich. But I also want them to hurry up and make a dang gargantuan green dragon to round out the chromatic dragons they've made. |
| #1622_Over_7May 01, 2010 16:34:09 | They're very likely to come out with a new Huge Dracolich (Black Dragon stock, I believe) in the upcoming set. |
| #17hellfyreMay 03, 2010 10:54:42 | I would LOVE a massive Tiamat mini ;) |
| #18doctorhookMay 04, 2010 12:12:45 | I would LOVE a massive Tiamat mini ;) Me too! Regretably, though, they'd have to redo her stats, because they made her Huge to fit with the Huge Aspect of Tiamat mini that was already available. |
| #19doctorhookMay 04, 2010 12:31:49 | Previously, a Dracolich was on the table. I think that is likely to show up again. The Tarrasque I can see happening, as well as potentially the Hydra and Demogorgon (assuming the cult of Demogorgon gets some more page space in adventures). The Astral Dreadnaught and Dagon are too uncommon to get this much attention, IMHO. The Purple Worm has an existing Huge mini, so I imagine that a Gargantuan version is very low priority. We need a Gargantuan Green Dragon, no doubt about that. (And it had better have that 4E nose horn!) We don't need a Gargantuan Red though, because we've already got a Colossal and two different Huge Red Dragons; hell, I already named my Big Red "Ashardalon". OTOH, WotC likes Red Dragons a lot, so I wouldn't be totally surprised if they did make yet another mega-sized Red Dragon -- disappointed, but not surprised. Bear in mind, though, that Ashardalon hasn't had that much attention; he starred as the big-bad in a 3E adventure series, and then he appeared in 4E's Draconomicon I. That's pretty much it. Contrast this with Orcus, who was the BBEG of 4E's first adventure path; who appeared on the cover of 4E's MM1; whose name was the project name for 4E; whose history goes back at least to 1st Ed. AD&D; and whose Gargantuan mini was already ready for production almost three years ago now -- compared to everything else, a Gargantuan Orcus mini was almost a given. |
| #20kigvanMay 04, 2010 22:30:31 |
Graz'zt already exists in this format. I think it may be likely that others may get similar treatment. |
| #21evil_weevilMay 05, 2010 2:23:33 | I really want to see a Torog miniature, that would be a badass figure. |
| #22griffithsMay 08, 2010 11:47:11 | Taking an educated guess, the next Icon miniature they would produce after Orcus, would be Demogorgon. Only because he is Iconic, been in the game forever, would make a badass looking mini, is on the cover of MM2, and he's also a demonlord like Orcus. |
| #23insipidMay 15, 2010 2:10:06 | Previously, a Dracolich was on the table.
Yeah, no kidding. I managed to get a hold of the 4 icons but a green dragon would be a nice finishing touch. I really hope I can get my hands on the Orcus. And it would be awesome if a gargantuan dracolich came out. |
