| #1MarandahirJun 01, 2010 7:43:35 | In the Works June and Beyond By Bart Carroll This month, Bart tells us about Monster Manual 3's Catastrophic Dragons – Earthquakes and Blizzards, but also previews us the small quasits! July in Dragon contains new origin stories, more Psionic Traditions, Countdown to Essentials and another Guilds & Groups article featuring the Circle of Smoke and Whispers. July in Dungeon includes more Chaos Scar adventures: Down the Goblin Hole and Pillar of Eyes. In Eberron, we fight Aerial Battles in the Khorvaire sky, and in the Realms, we learn the secrets of the Spiral Gate. From the Demonomicon of Iggwilv, we get a look at one of the new Demons: a member of the former Daemons who became Yugoloths in 3e, and now are just Demons: the Piscodemon. Ultrodemon's in MM3; in addition to the Piscodemon, we'll learn about in this dark tome the Hydrodemon and the Yagnodemon. As we venture into Vor Rukoth, we look at it's Blood Grounds: including a poison and an enemy native to them: the Blood Worm. Finally, as we're trapped once more in the Tomb of Horrors, we're able to glimpse a look at its history and that of its master, and meet a fey maiden, the Lady of Mists, who was trapped here in the Tomb for Acererak's pecurliar pleasures. Talk about these up and coming books and articles here. |

The Tomb of Horrors encounter looks... interesting, I guess? I suspect it'll be an absolute mess in play. I can't shake the feeling, though, that a lot of folks are going to be disapointed and/or complain when ToH:4e is lacking the "gotcha!" stuff of the classic. Oh, and I'm completely looking forward to Vor Rukoth. After Hammerfast, I'm hoping we see a whole pile of these cheap, interesting, "location" products. Personally I like them far more than normal published adventures. |
| #3areolaJun 01, 2010 11:43:19 | There was a thread a while back about more fluff for MM3. The preview seems like the normal format only with the new statblocks. |
| #4MarandahirJun 01, 2010 17:54:12 | What's an arcanian? |
| #5celticmuttJun 02, 2010 2:16:58 | What's an arcanian? Maybe the new Arcanaloth Yugoloth, or the Arcane merchant race from Spelljammer. |

Arcanaloth was renamed Ravasta in 4e, and the Arcane were renamed Mercane in 3e. |

I do miss the save vs becoming an idiot and the siren can cure it provided the players befriend her. And why is the passageway 5 feet, instead of 10? |

Because level 19 is already past gelatinous cubes. |

I don't like the idea of a roll-bad-twice-and-you-are-out-of-the-game effect. The dominated condition is bad enough (like stun, only worse for the party), but to have it become worse and permanent until someone uses a ritual seems like a bad design choice. I've been on the losing side of this kind of thing before (Revenge of the Giants) where if you step on a trapped square, you are out for the rest of the combat. While it was survivable, it certainly wasn't fun. Sitting in jail while the rest of the party dukes it out is lame. I though the 4e philosophy was to avoid this kind of thing. |
