#1 Dargurd Mar 08, 2010 15:12:03	Hi All Maybe im just being really slow on the uptake but having read a couple of other threads on the essentials line im still struggling. Just what is it ? How does it relate to 4ed etc ? Can someone please help. Regards...
#2 strand0 Mar 08, 2010 16:32:48	Beginners D&D 4th Edition. To start. Simpllified for begining players and GMs. It also has new versions of the basic four classes so that experienced players have a reson to buy it. There is some talk that it could be the first in a line of products that slightly update 4th ED.
#3 StormCrow42 Mar 08, 2010 19:55:17	The essentials line is a line of products on the publication schedule for the second half of 2010, possibly leading into the beginning of 2011.  It includes several different products. The "red box" starter set, a levels 1-3 introduction to D&D, with a player's book, DM book, dungeon tiles, and monster/PC tokens.  It will include rules for character creation and a "new build" for Fighters, Clerics, Rogues, and Wizards.  It will include the races human, dwarf, elf, and halfling. The Rules Compendium, a trade paperback compilation of the core D&D rules Three Dungeon Tiles Master Sets (the Dungeon, the City, and the Wilderness), each of which are 10 sheets of dungeon tiles in a box designed to remain in print and be referenced by future products. The Dungeon Master's Kit, including books of rules for DMs, sample adventures, monster tokens, and a DM's screen.  Intended to be the DM's expansion to the red box. Player's Essentials (Heroes of the Fallen Lands and Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms), each containing 1-30 builds for 5 classes and 5 races, intended to be the players' followup to the red box. The Monster Vault, a box with a monster manual, monster token sheets, and a sample adventure. More information on all these products can be found in the product catalog on the main Wizards site.
