Do not make star warlock powers that key of a stat if there is not already a star warlock power that keys of that stat in the PHB for the same level. I shouldn't have to point out why doing so would hurt the system, it should already be clear as day.

Now for those of us who are unsure what you are talking about, why would not alternating key ability scores unbalance the star pact? Is it the pact boon? I only see two star encounter powers that might be the best warlock power at that level: Sign of ill omen and Strand of Fate.
Coldfire Vortex (Star 13) is actually weaker than Fiery Bolt (Infernal 3). It deals about 2 more damage to secondary targets (about the same to the primary) and you get a choice of damage types, but you still have to hit the secondary targets after hitting the primary. With Fiery Bolt, you only have to hit once.

Which, if I'm reading correctly, means no new Star Pact powers EVER

Exactly. That was the implication from my earlier post.

This is bad somehow.

Well, considering that Starlocks are balanced to be more MAD than Infernal and Fey Warlocks, it would be follow that it would be unbalancing to make them more SAD.

I'm not saying that's necessarily true, but it seems to be the logic of the OP post.

I think that saying he is that the starlock warlock star powers that key off stats in the PHB should follow x - y ^(cosxy-xxy). If not then the titles of all future splinters stuff will be in all caps and ALL the powers bases are belong to us.
