| #1panzervangrelApr 29, 2009 9:59:32 | Now that the monk playtest is gonna be released i want to show the monk i was using in the last game i played, and other classes im creating for my games. So this way we can exchange ideas and other stuffs. Role: Ki Striker Key Stats: Wisdom, Des, Con Profilience: Armor:cloth, leather Weapons: Simple melee, Simple Ranged Implement: Scrolls CLASS FEATURES:[/b] Flying kick: You can charge through occupied space, and gain +2 AC while charging (cuz when charging over an enemy he can still make an opportunity attack), you must end your turn in an empty space. Charge ki:Ironfist At-Wil*ki Movement Action - Personal Effect: next time you attack roll 1d10 additional if the attack hits. Martial Artist (= Druid's primal aspect): i use the druids primal aspect as third class feature cuz this way it fits with the druid powers i use, i could create all powers and a new class feature but with the monk playtest so close i prefer to focus on the other ki clases :P. POWERS: I use all druids wild-shape powers and some of my own like this: FREEZING THE LIFEBLOOD Daily*ki Standard Action - Melee touch Target: one creture Attack: Wisdom vs Reflex Hit: 1d8+Wis and the target becomes stunned (save ends) Miss: Half damage and the target becomes slowed --im creating other ki classes as shinobi, Exorcist and samurai and one martial controller i named sapper with alchemist features, but if i put all that i have in my head it would be a very long post . |

| #6ah_stormbringerApr 29, 2009 17:56:09 | I was wondering, why shouldn't the monk be a controller? I know that previous editions made the monk a striker but I was thinking its main role should be a controller with its secondary role as a striker. This is more inline with the real life histiorical eastern monks. I know this would not be popular but it would be more realistic. I was thinking if any of the new classes should be a striker it should be the samurai as the real life combat style is strike hard and fast and then move on to the next target. That sounds more like a striker to me. I am not saying that a monk should not be able to deal damage but it should not be their first role. Most eastern monks will only use violence as a last resort something strikers just do not do. But that is just my two cents worth. |
| #7MarandahirApr 29, 2009 21:59:00 | Because this isn't the historical Monk; it's a Wuxia Kung-Fu Master type of Monk. Not really a Monk, but Martial Artist sounds both silly because it's two words and because we're dealing with a Ki class, not a Martial class. |
| #8ah_stormbringerApr 30, 2009 6:09:30 | Yes but that only is one style of monk, while it would be more interesting from a roleplaying aspect to have a controller style monk that its secondary role is that of a striker. A monk who shares his wisdom then kicks your but. There are way too many strikers and it would be nice to see another controller. |
| #9Axiomatic_BadgerApr 30, 2009 6:23:25 | Wouldn't a pacifist driven to violence want to end fights as quickly as possible, to reduce the chance of bystanders getting hurt? The simple fact of the matter is that personal philosophy has nothing to do with party role. I can have a bloodthirsty sociopath as a leader, so monks can be strikers. Also, lets nor forget that the difference between controler and striker isn't particularly well defined. As long as the monk can wipe out a handful of minions per turn, I'll be happy :D |
| #10ah_stormbringerMay 01, 2009 16:41:19 | True they would want to end it quickly but that should not be their primary focus. Make them wise spiritual leaders who can kick but. That would be a great roleplaying opportunity. Again I know that the monk will be a striker but that does not mean I cannot hope for something more. |
