| #1the8bitdeityAug 27, 2008 14:59:01 | I live in Canada, and pre-ordered Martial Power through Amazon.ca. I got a notification through e-mail this morning that Martial Power had been delayed until November. Anyone else hear this? I'm hoping it's setback at the printers and not development. Wasn't it originally scheduled for October? |
| #2rmn498Aug 27, 2008 15:06:16 | Same delay on my Amazon order in the US and Wizards changed the date posted on the Martial Power page, so at least we know it's not another Amazon problem like we had for the Gift Set in June. |
| #3niallnaiAug 27, 2008 16:14:16 | Yes, it was originally scheduled for October. I got the same email. I'm surprised. I don't remember WotC having rescheduled like this in recent history. Then again, I really didn't keep track that well. Although I'm sure the Force Unleashed book was in some sort of limbo at times. |

I'm sorry to see them delay Martial Power, but money wise it probably makes more sense. -Tig |
| #5Fox_ReeveheartAug 28, 2008 10:37:18 | Official announcement from wizards or it didnt happen =) Edit: If this delaying stuff starts to become regular I will not become a happy customer. |
| #6guivreAug 28, 2008 10:53:34 | Official announcement from wizards or it didnt happen =) Changing the date on the product release schedule constitutes an official announcement. Though it would be helpful if there was a single spot with all press announcements like this listed. |
| #7epochgamesAug 28, 2008 14:23:06 | Official announcement from wizards or it didnt happen =) Maybe they're adapting that video game company concept a bit too well.....:P It would be nice if, since the obviously changed the release date they made some sort of announcement. Personally, I'd like to know what causes these sorts of delays with a company such as WotC. I'm late with stuff all the time with EBP, but there's only a few of us, and we all have real jobs and family to contend with to keep the roof over our heads and the peace. I don't see these sorts of delays come from the smaller companies such as Goodman, Mongoose, or even White Wolf. Granted puts out more material and one book here or there a month or two might be acceptable, but we're already beginning to see a trend, and I think there are others like me who take the lack of any statement or explanation from WotC as a sort of a slap in the face. We may not be shareholders, but we all have something at stake with our beloved D&D. We do feel a bit of entitlement to be treated better than faceless monkeys who will just buy what they tell us to. |
| #8tigger11Aug 28, 2008 15:14:25 | Maybe they're adapting that video game company concept a bit too well.....:P My bigger issue is why are we hearing about the delay from Amazon, Borders and Barnes and Noble, instead of WOTC who made the delay and obviously should have known about it first. Wouldnt it make more sense to announce the delay here rather then once again there be several threads about is it or is it not delayed. -Tig |
| #9baik_telorAug 28, 2008 15:45:17 | This is a shame because I intend to start a second campaign soon, one that predominately uses the martial classes (no divine and only limited arcane classes). This may set back our start date. Hopefully this is a mistake, but I doubt it. |

This may set back our start date. Its on the WOTC site now, so its official, its coming out November 18, which will make it the Christmas book for the players, so thats good for sales, but it sucks that the way we find out about the second delay in two months, is Amazon and others sending out notice of delays instead of an actual posting on the WOTC website. -Tig |
| #11Fox_ReeveheartAug 28, 2008 16:29:17 | we ARE the shareholders. If we don't buy, they die. Simple, no? They keep us happy we keep THEM happy with the munniez ![]() You can say whatever you want about share/stock holders but it all boils down to the consumer and if they are satisfied. If it was delayed simply for the reason of making it sort of a holiday deal then I am utterly ticked. Screwing over your fanbase for marketing may be smart for them but it messes up their image and reputation and what is better in the long run? If it's for further editing and testing then fine. I'm still ticked but it's something I can deal with... just make sure you are COMPLETELY SURE of what you want before you set a release date and don't follow it. |
| #12RichmudSep 04, 2008 10:43:49 | I don't see these sorts of delays come from the smaller companies such as Goodman, Mongoose, or even White Wolf. You may just not be paying enough attention to White Wolf they end up delaying things all the time, at least one product a friend wanted got delayed the day before it was supposed to come out |
| #13AaronOfBarbariaSep 04, 2008 11:04:55 | I don't see these sorts of delays come from the smaller companies such as Goodman, Mongoose, or even White Wolf. White Wolf recently had a product (Dreams of the First Age) delayed mutliple months, and even had a release date entered onto the website incorrectly that when corrected looked like a delay. The situation with how much vitriol their fans where giving them over "missing release dates" has caused them to have all release dates removed from all internet sources to be announced once they are certain that the date will be correct. Besides that... let's all just be glad that WotC hasn't just stopped mentioning release dates and started releasing books sporadically ever 4-6 months like I have seen other companies do. Granted that was right before said company ceased producing any game lines at all. |
| #14LFKSep 04, 2008 19:35:00 | I found out about the delay from the recent "September and Beyond" article. There was almost weeping, wailing, and the rending of garments. It's not that I really, really mind, but what's my October book now? I guess I could count FRPG and AV as two months worth, but I really, really want Martial Power. Draconomicon, eh (but I'll still probably buy it), Manual of the Planes, yesplease, Open Grave, eh (but I'll still probably buy it). March, April, May though is looking to be hot for me. PHB2, Arcane Power, MM2. Divine Power and Eberron PG both in July. |
| #15belladonna5012Sep 05, 2008 7:43:22 | I really want Martial Power, too. The two-weapon fighter build sounds pretty awesome, and what else is in there? I feel like a little kid standing on the other side of a locked door from which I can smell the faint odor of sweets, but I cannot tell what kind. My stomach does flips at the thought of maybe getting a Dex-primary fighter build. Or what about unarmed combat feats? Or stuff that makes great-weapon fighters a little more juicy, particularly for the ones that use swords instead of axes or hammers? Will that supposed feat that lets you use Dex instead of Str on basic melee attacks be in there? And what are these new multiclassing feats? Do they make paragon multiclassing worth it? Do they let me get a little more juice out of multiclassing in the first place? I'm just going to lean against that door and breathe deep for a while. |
| #16nymrohdSep 05, 2008 9:20:15 | This thread must be full of sarcasm, right? We are actually complaining that a book was delayed for a single month three months in advance and with adequate notice. I guess consumer sanity is overrated |

I guess consumer sanity is overrated No, we are complaining that once again WOTC didnt decide to tell us a book was being delayed, instead we hear it from every bookseller and shop owner before WOTC decided to share the info yesterday in a column on here, and implying in that column that despite for months telling us it was coming out in October, that it always was supposed to come out in November. -Tig |
| #18thecasualoblivionSep 05, 2008 10:41:46 | Is it me or are certain people trying to make a mountain out of a molehill here? There are only a couple ways to look at this: 1. I'm angry that its delayed because I really want that book. Being pushed back a month doesn't change the fact that I want that book. 2. This delay is proof that WotC is a bad company. 3. So what? What's the big deal? Life goes on. Very few people who are pleased with 4E and currently playing it are likely to have opinion #2. That opinion is more for people who are disaffected by the edition change and trying to find fault with WotC so they can show others how bad things are and try to erode support for the new edition. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a big deal. If you are currently playing and enjoying 4E, waiting an extra month for Martial Power isn't going to ruin anything. It only becomes a big deal if you are specifically looking for faults in WotC. |

Well, yes and no. One delayed release is no big deal. There are a few things that make people a little more sensitive though. One, that it's not one delayed release but two by now. Two, that it's two delayed releases for an edition that hasn't been out for more than a good three months. Three, that WotC has set up an installment scheme for the core rules - if the PHB II will be delayed as well, that's going to be very annoying. Four, it's an indication of WotC not being totally on top of things (when taken together with the DDI issues etc). Five, WotC deigned it unnecessary to announce the delay to the customers (but not the distributors). It's a lot of small things. |
| #20tigger11Sep 05, 2008 14:51:23 | Is it me or are certain people trying to make a mountain out of a molehill here? There are only a couple ways to look at this: If those were my only 3 options (I dont agree they are) then I am solidly in the #2 catagory, and I play 4E exclusively now, I've ended the last of my 3.5 edition campaigns. I think WOTC needs to do what it says it is going to do, and when plans change, tell us about it, not act like its a mistake on the website. This is the 3rd change in schedule that Amazon or Borders or B&N have told us about instead of the actual person who is producing the item. Thats silly. If the product is delayed, post its being delayed and go on, making it a secret until Amazon or someone else tells you the book is being delayed is silly, and dont act like everyone on the planet had it wrong and you always meant to deliver the book in November. The Dragon and Dungeon were a problem for a long time, they've made them better, I'll be giving them my $60, but I surely am not going to say that those complaining about the quality/quantity of the magazines in the first few months of electronic life were wrong with there comments. -Tig |
| #21AryxbezSep 07, 2008 13:14:24 | I do kinda think it's janked that I have to wait another month. As October was the month of all things, as for vidgea games, there are going to be several good releases. So Martial power would've just added to the yay factor I suppose. Mostly this just makes me give out a sigh, however I can endure I would think. However if it's going to be delayed, I'd expect that it's quality be a bit better, or that we won't need any errata for the book. |
| #22belladonna5012Sep 07, 2008 15:32:25 | Eh, I'm bummed about having to wait another month, too, but you're right about the video games. The new Castlevania: Thing of Stuff and Fable 2 will certainly go a long ways towards soothing the pain. Not to mention the fact that we're getting the swordmage and Adventurer's Vault this month, and those both sound like they're going to make quiiiiite a splash. |
| #23rmn498Sep 09, 2008 9:55:07 | Did anyone notice that they pulled the barbarian preview too? And did they tell us? No. They tried to wipe all traces of it from the website and pretend that they never told us it would be here this month. Good job Wizards. Way to go. |

Are you playing D&D right now or are you unable to without MP? Unless waiting an extra month for Martial Power will stick in your craw for the next 12 months, this line of complaining isn't productive. |
| #25tigger11Sep 09, 2008 18:45:15 | Yeah. Small things. It got delayed: so what? Are you playing D&D right now or are you unable to without MP? | #26Alter_BoySep 09, 2008 18:52:00 | Much more productive then your line of complaining. Ironically, yes. WotC will surely tighten up its product release dates before some people realize what's really important in life. |
