I know the miniatures line is going through changes. Players Handbook Heroes no longer exists and hero minis will soon be found inside the regular miniatures products. Questions about what is happening to the minis line have been buzzing about my head for a while. Make your voices heard here.
What this thread is not for: Long drawn out and heated debates about what race or class to play as. If someone wants raceX + classY that makes no sense at all, is completely sub-optimal or lacks the right fluff, let them and lets not argue about what minis WotC would or would never make. Let us assume that anything could be a possibility.
I typically don't require that the miniature i use for my character be the exact image I have in mind. many humanoid races can be interchangable since the details are so miniscule some poorly sculpted minis dont even appear to have a face. Some races however have specific styles of garb, elves wear tight fitting armor usually with leaf designs or elven patterns. Still some races are so unique you couldnt possibly use another race mini in its place like minotaurs, thri-kreen, dragonborn and warforged. i guess a heavily armored character wearing a helmet over his face could be a warforged but you get the idea.
My only reqirement is that the mini match either my race or class. depending on the character concept I might favor one or the other, usually race. When something more fitting comes along i jump at the chance to use it.
I'd like to see some of the new more exotic dragons from draconomicon; metalic get turned into minis. Orium (with vaporous serpent) steel, and mercury. also its been a while since we saw a bronze dragon. and dragon wyrmlings too would be cool plus having wyrmling minis would open up the door for players who desperately want to play as dragons.
If i see another orc, goblin or skeleton I'm gona puke. I know thats an unrealistic point of view because these are iconic monsters so they'll probably never stop making them. I'll just have to have a bucket nearby when they begin to preview lords of madness.
I've looked backwards into the past miniatures sets and seen alot of minis that would make great heroes. too many infact to mention just not now. I sometimes wish they'd make a sortable gallery index of all minis so a player could just punch in a lable (warforged) and then all of the miniatures that fit that description would appear. oh ya e-bay does that but not well enough.

I wouldn't mind if they were dressed up to be usable in modern/superhero/D&D type looks. But many of the "monsters" in Gamma World like badders... would be good for any game!

As for specific things I'd like minis for: the Tarrasque.
For example, in second edition I play a swashbuckling Lupin. Do you know how bloody hard it is to find a medium sized creature that looks dog like and isn't half naked running around like he is an indian wanna be?
Thats the sort of minis I'm looking for. And one of the reasons I've been wanting Gnolls to become a PHB race. (I'll settle for Lupins so long as they have the legs like Wilden.)
I want them to take a race, such as Dwarves.. and do something stupid with it. Like make the dwarf a wizard or thief.. Not just make another dwarven cleric or fighter.

its been said that Lords of Madness is going to feature dark sun heroes so i think we'll be getting some psionic minis, probably a thri-kreen too wich im excited about.
chanter_hound, PHH1 had a dwarf rogue in it already. I like to use him as a warlock tho since hes got a black cape and a tiny lil dagger. a dwarven wizard would be cool. i know alot of players who like wierd race class combos like that.
Also the Orccus mini is comming, more of a fan of demogorgan myself but the orccus mini looks really impressive. think its gona cost arround $80.00

Not likely we'll see reprints - the reprints in PHH 1 & 2 were done in order to meet a compressed schedule for manufacture and distribution.

I too would enjoy seeing some wilden and shardmind minis. yes they are new but whats wrong with voicing a desire for a new product to complement yet another new product? P.S. i hope the shardminds are made of redish trasparent plastic like their big brother psychic sentinal from legendary evils but wearing a tunic or something thats painted.
Goliath - an arcane or primal caster type
Shardmind and Wilden - some of everything like the devas
Minotaur - a caster and a 2h fighter or barbarian
Goblin - a sword and board, plate wearin gobby so i can have a true representative of my goblin paladin of bahamut!

Yes, that's wonderful. It still remains true that there is only one changeling in its natural form, and it appears to be a rogue. They simply need to provide changelings that have a more caster-like appearance, wearing heavier armors with different weapons, and so on. Besides which to say, for the purposes of combat, sometimes it is simply easier to remember which character is the changeling by seeing it represented as a changeling on the board. The character may be polymorphed into an elf, or a mind flayer, or whatever. That's fine and dandy. Nevertheless, representing it on the board with a different mini every combat can add unecessary confusion for some groups, so giving them the option of having an actual changeling mini is a good thing.

You are certain of this? You have evidence of this? Player's Handbook II was released March 1st, 2009. More than a year ago. Since March of '09, this is what was released for minis:
May 1st, 2009 - Dangerous Delves
July 1st, 2009 - Player's Handbook Heroes 2
August 1st, 2009 - Legendary Evils
November 17th, 2009 - Savage Encounters
That looks like more than one set to me. So, even supposing that Dangerous Delves and PHH2 were right out, that is 2 full releases that devas could have been released in.
What's more, the final look for art is rarely finished immediately before production. The finalized PIECE itself might be finished quite soon before publication. However, the finalized approved look and concept art is very much finalized well before the publication of such a product, to give the artists time to complete their pieces, have them approved or changed to the art director's liking, etc. So, at the very least commissioning sculpts that look very close to the finalized concept art could have been in motion in time to allow for a release of minis very close to the release of the book the race was introduced in. Thus, I am not convinced that PHH2 or Dangerous Delves were out of reach for a deva release.

No, they really aren't. Looking at the artistic differences, the really look quite different. Halflings look like miniature humans that have a normal human ratio of limb and feature sizes. Gnomes have exaggerated features, and rather significantly different hairstyles.

No, they look SIMILAR to humans. Except for the pupiless eyes, and the crowns they all stylistically wear regardless of class. Adding a few kalashtar here and there with pupiless eyes and little stylized crowns would not have been difficult, isn't asking for much, and allows kalashtar players to have something more appropriate while being perfectly adequate for human players who likewise enjoy the sculpt(s) in question.

First of all, those aren't complaints. Note the complaints above have actual blurbs in parentheses voicing said complaints. The remainder of the post does precisely what the OP asked for: It provided a wishlist.
Second, minotaurs appeared as a playable race in Dragon #369, which was released in November of 2008. In addition, minotaurs are classic enemies to fight. Thus, the variety of minotaur minis is lacking, and I'd like to see more.
Your post is more than a little nit-picky, IMHO. Jumping down peoples' throats, especially in such an aggressive manner, for providing PRECISELY what the OP asked for is entirely unwarranted.

Need More smalls like birds, Cats, ext for familiars.
More Mounted Figuers how about pairs so that you could have a mounted and unmounted figure who look the same.

I like the idea of using a different mini every time you change forms for your changeling but I can see it cuasing some confusion and being rather costly. A miniature to represent your character in its natural form would be nice.
I've gotta say, all due respect, pupil-less eyes are gona be hard to put on a mini, or perhaps what i mean is eyes with pupils in general are dificult so pupil-less eyes would just appear are black eyes. I dont expect alot of precise details, sometimes the eyes arent even painted on at all when the paint job sucks or the sculpt doesnt provide enough details for the face. these are the hazards of minis making sometimes you end up getting crappy minis. I'd settle for a kalashtar with the iconic crown.
I'd like to reitterate my sentiment towards the clashes and quarrels we often see in these threads. I want this thread's mantra to be "Lets imagine that anything is possible, If you disagree let it be" Here I want all players to be able to say their wants and desires for the minatures product line. If someone thinks a player could or should settle for minis that arent exactly what they are looking for you can say that but you need to find a polite way to do so.
Like a "humanoid" in fullplate, another in leather with a leather full face helm. in both small and medium variants.
It would at least give some of us who play strange races a temp mini until we get one for us.
But, eh... just wishing....
I guess really the players minis packs are dead, at least for now, but I thought the better version would be to do racial packs. This way there could have been a Dragonborn/Human/Dwarf/etc. Character Pack that could have had, say 6 minis in it: One Fighter typer, one Rogue, one Arcane, one priest style, one in the version of the epic destiny style, and a mounted version. You could Jump to eight figs, and have 2 distinctly female versions, (Lets face it, you can't really tell male/female in heavy armor.)
But, eh... just wishing....
