I wish I did. So far the only dependable source of new monsters has been the AP's.  I suspect the next one will give us a couple of demon lords, a couple of demons, and a lot of cultists.....which is good and all, but it does make a body wonder when (if ever) we will see some new fey, creatures from the Shadowfell, nondemon fiends, and celestials.

I always say a DM can never have too many monsters or too many magic items to pick from.

Forgive me for again plugging Frog God Games’ Fifth Edition Foes. It’s got a bunch of classic AD&D monsters written up for 5e, along with a bunch of new monsters. I’ve really been digging the expanded repertoire and some of the monsters are really vicious.

Do you have the website for that?

For Fifth Edition Foes, certainly!

So it's a good book to buy Ralif?  I almost pulled the trigger on it myself but waited for more feedback.

Everything else they make is pretty good, I'd assume this is good too.

I dig it – it’s mostly old school monsters, so there are plenty that are familiar from the 1e Fiend Folio and MM2. But there are completely new ones as well. Expect plenty of weird and unusual monsters. For a full list, check here:

Some of the monsters are much tougher than the CRs listed. Some of the entries have odd phrasings of the rules, but nothing outright wrong that I caught. I use the book just about every adventure.

With all of the talk about the Multiverse pas of late, what if MM 2 was "Monster Manual 2: Creatures of the Multivers" and included a collection of Monsters from Ravenloft, Planescape, Eberron and or DarkSun?  I feel like if we are going to see more settings, it would be one or more of these.  With the recent surveys and Wotc stating that FR, Eberron, Ravenloft, Darksun and Planescape being in the top 5, i wonder if they were not preping us for future releases.  IMO (probably just hopefull) this kind of a MM 2 would make sence.  For those who don't want the other setting the monsters included would just be monsters, while the product would lay the groundwork and potentilally mass appeal for other settings.  I guess im saying that th eproduct would work on multiple levels.

Just a thought.  I know that I would by a MM that included 320pgs of the best monsters from 3 or more of my favorite settings that I could have the option of plugging them into anything if I felt so inclined.

Thoughts?

Would like to see themed monster manuals. Extra-planar expansion (like the elemental planes, mechanus, far realm, etc.) And some god-like enemies and/or deities from those planes (Primus, as an example) Another one could be the underworld, (demons, devils, undead, fiends, and other inhabitants of the nine hells and the abyss) and of course some demon lords and big devils, unique ones (Orcus, Asmodeus, Graz'zt, etc.). If they made a generic monster manual 2, would be nice to see all of the setting specific monsters included in 1 source, instead of shoved at the back of the ebberon setting book for some, and the darksun setting book for others.

in my pathfinder playing days (aka before 5e streamrolled me over with a renewed RPG energy) one of the best products they put out in my opinion was the NPC codex.  Filled with NPC at certain levels for all the classes....really well done book.  If WoTC did something like that, I'd be all over it as its such a useful tool.

If they make each campaign world a campaign in of itself, they could include the monsters in that book.  But who wouldn't buy a $50 or $60 kick ass campaign to run you characters through in any of the above settings?  I hope they go that route.  Make it self contained to keep with the minimalist idea.

Funny, I had the very same reaction and subsequent turnaround.

Talking about the NPC section in MM, I would like to mention that I've started a thread in the DM section of theese boards. You might like some of the NPC people have posted there
