One preview said their was "Angles to Archons and ... ," so any Aboleth?

I haven't bought any 4e yet and wondering if the MV should be my buy instead of the original 4e MMI.

Either way you want MV instead of MM1 because MM1 isn't in line with MM3 and any future supplements they'll put out.

I'm just hoping that Monster Vault will at least have some classic dragon types that are actually usable.  The draconic staples like Red, Black, etc are in MM1, and their absolutely terrible creations.  If you want to throw a dragon that at the party that's capable of being anything more than a big bag of hit points, you need to use some obscure dragon type from Draconomicon 2.

Lot's of classics, kobolds, orcs, golbins where named, but i expect dragons will be there as well.

Supposed to be new variety but i wouldn't be surprised if a few repeats came up.  Though on the plus side, that means some MM1 monsters will get errated.

Hopefully each monster has a picture!

I noticed there will be another Monster Vault next year as well!

I mean artwork in the book, not just tokens.

Since these books will be smaller and digest sized, that is why I am concerned that not every creature will get a picture.

I noticed that in the Gamma World preview, the art was a reproduciton of the token ... almost like an icon. It also seemed that the GW mutants had like 4 or 5 monsters to a page.

The GW tokens were also double sided with a different monster on the back, so you got double use from a token. Maybe the MV is the same way.

I'm dying to know how monsters I get. Is it 300 like in the original MM1 or less?

I'm pretty sure the other side is "boodied".  At least that how the DM kit did it.

The essentials starter box...lots of the tokens had completely different monsters on the other side of them.  I hope with this release, every token is a different monster and not shared.

Maby minions share, since they can't get bloodied.  *shrug*

The Red Box had different monsters on each side, but for the hero tokens, it was bloodied on the back.  I would assume it's the same for everything in the Monster Vault and DM Kit – Heroes get Bloodied flips sides, since bloodied means more for the heroes, and the DM should be keeping close track of what the monster's HP totals and currents are anyways – the heroes should note that a monster is bloodied, but not necessarily have to SEE it on the token.

Problem with having different monsters on both sides of a token is organization and storage.  I'd rather have multiple plano boxes sorted by monsters than having 150 tokens and wondering...now which one had the monster I am looking for on the back.  If it is not 300 seperate tokens for each monsters I doubt I am even that interested in it anymore.

The Monster Vault has at least some monsters with bloodied sides. There are promotional images of it floating around where you can clearly see a number of bloodied-sided monster tokens. I think the most notable being a giant.

...including new spins on such beloved monsters as dragons, orcs, and vampires.

So, plaease list any monsters (or races) that will be in the Monster Vault.

I noticed there will be another Monster Vault next year as well!

In the Podcast I listened to they stated that all monsters will have art. Not only that, the new format means the art for each creature is shown within it's entry/stat-block to help people "better connect to the monsters".

Monsters have bloodied and non-bloodied side, so yes, one token per monster
