Why has there been no further support, not even a flex stat, for the gnolls released? The dragon article was well written, and really made some fun ideas for Gnolls. What happened?

My son is also very fond of them... his was a construct made by a mad scientist wizard who wanted a companion and thought he was designing based on dog.

Goblins should have been in the Eberron book.

Goblins should have been in the Eberron book.

All Goblinoid races - Bugbears and Hobgoblins too.
But then, the 3rd party 4th ed Kingdom of Kalamar, maybe...

I asked Steve that question, specifically mentioning Eberron (since that's an official 4e setting where the 'default' assumptions about many 'monstrous' races are completely invalid). He never replied.

Of course he didn't.

I also rather cheekily suggested that drow were the exception to all this solely because they're prettier than orcs and hobgoblins.

I believe that completely.

I always assumed drow were the exception because their chicks dig leather and whips.

. . .

. . . what?

Sounds more like shadar-kai to me...

Anyway, every RPG needs at least one official 'Lesbian Stripper Ninja'/blatant fanservice race. Otherwise, the fans will just invent their own and it will be much less tasteful. I have absolutely nothing against the drow, or against them being a playable race, even if they were made such for pretty shallow reasons. I just want to see some equality and diversity.

Oh that sounds like the shadar-kai as well.  But the drow thing seems to be more, "woman to put me under her heel and control me while being 'sexy'", while shadar-kai seems to be "PAIN!".

And I would love to see all the rest of the races without write-ups get one.  That means Goblins, Hobgoblins, Bugbears, Orcs, Kobolds, Githyanki, Duergar, Bullywugs, Kenku and Bladelings.  Also wouldn't mind seeing a Darkling race, if only because they're described as the halflings of the Shadowfell, and it would give another race to the ability to play within the Shadowfell with shadow races.

Well, there's a lot of overlap.

"This race lives in a realm of darkness, ruled over by female priestesses of a morally dubious goddess to whom the race is fanatically devoted. Their garb tends towards black leather with spikes and chains, contrasted with splashes of bright colours. Their skin and hair are monochrome, except for those individuals who dye their hair or tattoo their skin. They keep slaves to do all the boring work, devoting their own time to perfecting their martial or magical skills, or to decadent art and debauched pleasures."

Am I describing drow here, or shadar-kai? It really could be either, couldn't it?

On a purely personal level, the only race there I really care about (i.e. would ever actually play) is hobgoblin. But I think there are enough people who like and want to play the others that they all deserve full PC write-ups.

I would play every damn one of them.  Not sure when I'd get the time to, but I would . . .
