Neverwinter Themes

After race and class, themes add a third component to help refine your story and identity.

Talk about this preview here.

Not to jump to too many conclusions, but the Renegade Red Wizard theme should get rid of the Class Prerequisite.

i dont think so because the wizard(mage) is the specialist wizards from old, and Red Wizards had to be specialist wizards in 3rd if i remember right

Are we not getting an Excerpts series for the Neverwinter Campaign Guide, like there was for the Shadowfell supplement and the Nentir Vale Monster Vault?

Also, there seems to be a contradition in the text: the "Dead Rat deserter" theme lists Human, half-elf, or halfling as Race Prerequisites, but in the "Themes in Character Creation", it gives an example of a Eladrin wizard taking that theme.

Am i missing something? Is "adopting a story role your class or race otherwise might not provide" related to breaking said Race Prerequisite for story purposes?

I have nothing against it, on the contrary, just trying to get a clarification, since it may affect how the Game Day is played.

BTW, wouldn't a half-elf already qualify if it said "human or halfling" in the prerequisites, due to double heritage?

Unfortunatly no. Dual Heritage only let you qualify as Human or Elf only for Feat Prerequisits, not Themes.

Dual Heritage: You can take feats that have either elf or human as a  prerequisite (as well as those specifically for half-elves), as long as you meet any other requirements.

I hate themes. I have no intention of using the theme section of this book.

With todays article, it seems that there will be several other articles, but not in an organized way like the ones above; pity.

are themes becoming a regular part of the game? will players soon be able to use them in LFR or Encounters? these are the only venues i get to play in so if themes are only usable in home games i'll never get to use them. just wondering since i'm seeing themes pop up everywhere.

I think themes are overkill. They add a power creep with the bonus encounter power at 1st level. They are an unnecessary mechanical addition to the game that caters to prima Dona characters. However, I'm very much in the minority in disliking them.

I think themes will be a part of the upcoming Encounters season that is attached to the release of the Neverwinter material, and they may become legal in LFR. Nothing official has been decided yet.

From what has been "leaked" about the next draft version of the CCG the non-Darksun themes will become fully LFR legal

I love themes especially for Essentials classes that are stuck with limited options.

Hope to see more themes.
