New publisher for german D&D 4e ?

Mar 04, 2009 11:05:48 Since this year there is no publisher for german D&D 4e. There are any news, rumors or something else that D&D 4e get a new publisher. ?
Its so sad that they stop it, i really wanna play it :/ .

It's a shame, and a loss for deutschsprachige Rollenspieler. Unfortunately, I haven't heard any news about a new German publisher. Sorry, bro.

(Ich wollte auf Deutsch schreiben, aber meines ist nicht so gut.)

They did´t told us, why, or what will happen in the future for german players.

Of course the german market is a really small one, but i dont believe that this is a good way how they do to the customer.

All I can suggest is that practice your English, in the meantime. :P If you read your D&D books as often as I do, reading them in another language will definitely be good language practice, if you need it; plus, you wouldn't have to wait for the book, either.

I think the OP is more concerned about the fact that the German publisher of D&D decided to drop the 4E D&D license after publishing the first three core books. Now, the OP can't get copies of PH2 or Arcane Power or Open Grave or anything else new in his native language.

(Unless you were just trying to recommend a place for him to buy English copies... :P)

I understand english but at storytelling from english to german... i dont know, this will never work for me. I will use my own adventures but sometimes i want to use things of off. books. Dungeon specifications and all the little things. I cant transmit it for 100%.
Its a pain to translate all books/adventures which are released in english. They got tons of interesting things. We got nothing, its a shame.

They should leave only one sentence " Yes we will find a new publisher" or " we stoped it forever."

Well, over at ENWorld D&D Senior Brand Manager Scott Rouse made a small remark concerning the upcoming Chinese version. Sadly, he didn't tell which version of the language will be covered, but perhaps said version will be more accessible.

Sarcasm aside, at least WotC seems to push for foreign language editions. Now they only have to find a competent German publisher large and fit enough to produce high-quality timely translations. I'm sure a long queue of likely candidates is waiting outside the Seattle offices...

Mar 10, 2009 12:10:40 I have a hard time translating some terms. Finding a good german word for striker is hard. Warlock has a completly different name if i would translate it "Someone who forges pacts" Warden is hard as well as some PP.

lol I image that does get complicated...

FWIW, "striker" doesn't really mean anything in English either. Unlike "defender", "leader", and "controller", which can all be used in normal English, "striker" is ambiguous and doesn't really refer to anything if you don't have a context for it. D&D provides a context for the term, so its meaning is obvious, but it's really a jargon term.

Apr 01, 2009 16:28:59 Any news regarding this? I purchased all three core rulebooks in german language for the sake of simplicity (and the sake of my players) and now I am kind of feeling left out.

By the way, so far I haven't found too many gruesome errors in the german translation.

Feb 13, 2010 10:21:24 I am really sad about this, we play D&D since AD&D 2nd Edition and there has always bwwn a german translation for the Rule Books. In fact the last Publisher of the D&D 3E and 3.5E Rule Books made an awful job. So we revertded to the English Rule-Books. Unfortunately I have some players in my group that have great problems with their english :-(

It is hell of a job to translate every power-card, feat ritual (and many more) for them... I hope WotC find a new publisher fast.
