I just noticed that Amazon DOES have the next Monster Vault (threats to the Nentir Vale) listed as a future release and available for pre-order.  This is weird since the Nentir Vale Gazetter has been pulled or pushed back.  That particular Monster Vault is supposed to be a box set so I wonder what's in it?  I know we're getting more tokens and adventure hooks are being included as well.

I'm one of the designers for Monster Vault: Threats to the Nentir Vale. Let me know any questions you might have and IF I can answer them, I will. Remember that most specifics are covered under NDA, but there might be some wiggle room.

Will it be like a MM4? or will it be an expansion of essentials? (this will probably answer most of my question regarding products after essentials, its pretty unclear)
If you cant tell be NDA, could you answer it in a puzzle? (take that NDA)

It is not an Essentials product. Here is a link to the Amazon product description. Also, you can check out an image of the product on my site.

I believe it is supposed to work more like a MM4 than anything else. It will have new monsters along with adventure paths and four awesome maps to use as locations. Also, for those famliar, there will be hard cardboard cutouts that you can use as tokens for the monsters and NPCs.

will the fluff be general fruff (like in the MM) or will it be specificly made for nentir vile? So you need to refluff for use in lets say ebberon.

The product was designed for the Nentir Vale (thus the namesake) but I see no reason you will find difficulty in reskining it for your needs.

Edit: Note that I know nothing about the Nentir Vale Gazetteer. I am only talking about the MV product being released at the end of June 2011.

Matt,

Will it feature a dominant bad guy like the previous 3 MM's? (We've had Orcus, Demogorgon, Lolth)

Thanks.

1) You mentioned on your website that each designer had to make their own map for the box. I assume you used Dungeon Tiles for it?

2) "Other entries focus on campaign villains present in the Nentir Vale region, among them the Iron Circle, the Tigerclaw Barbarians, the Raven Roost Bandits, and several new villainous groups introduced here for the first time." Well, that answers who the BBEGs are. But is this product going to be an organization-based Monster Vault as opposed to a encyclopedia of different monsters? Will there be some ideas for running campaigns with these organizations?
