| #1araelethe_dupOct 23, 2007 18:33:50 | I just purchased Inn-Fighting. In the game is a card which that states: Find the template for adding your own D&D characters to the game at: www.wizards.com/Inn-Fighting The page loads the default D&D page. No link. No template. What's the deal? |
| #2ladyjorascoOct 24, 2007 14:06:02 | I just purchased Inn-Fighting. i was thinking exactly the saem thing |
| #3moparfanaticOct 24, 2007 16:14:13 | Good I am not the only one... seems that someone in the web-development/maintenance team dropped the ball or didn't get the memo about the product release date... I am sure it will be remedied soon. ![]() |
| #4ladyjorascoOct 24, 2007 17:27:26 | Good I am not the only one... seems that someone in the web-development/maintenance team dropped the ball or didn't get the memo about the product release date... I am sure it will be remedied soon. yeah but until then......i mean its a good game and evrthing i just played it with some friends in my campus caf but i wish we could be using characters from our eberron game.... ![]() |
| #5davethebrave371Oct 25, 2007 2:22:21 | Lady Jorasco, it seems I'm destined to find you whenever I look for things I'm interested in. I search for "Inn Fighting Template" on the boards and BAM, there you are. And I agree! Where's ma dang Inn Fighting conversion template! At least they now redirect you to something other than the main page, but what gives? |
| #6ladyjorascoOct 25, 2007 14:11:47 | Lady Jorasco, it seems I'm destined to find you whenever I look for things I'm interested in. I search for "Inn Fighting Template" on the boards and BAM, there you are. hahaha i think youre a pretty cool dude yourself!! :D |
| #7veronusOct 25, 2007 16:38:10 | Yeah, the template would be nice ![]() |
| #8araelethe_dupOct 25, 2007 16:42:43 | Yeah, redirected to the Product page. Brilliant work, Wizards. Might as well link to the Paizo.com site. That's where I'll be spending my money. Gotta be a Game Mastery product with real support. Wizards of the Coast couldn't cast cantrips correctly. I am leaving the radius of effect before daze sets in. Why do I always walk away from this site bitter ... Must ... throw ... chair ... |
| #9ladyjorascoOct 29, 2007 10:55:36 | .....still nothing!! |
| #10mortalsphereOct 29, 2007 13:52:08 | I'm in the same boat. Any news? Did someone just forget about it? |
| #11davethebrave371Oct 29, 2007 16:20:10 | It'd be nice if a product had support listed in the box live within the month of its release. |
| #12deekinOct 30, 2007 21:39:54 | WTF, where is my support? |
| #13moparfanaticOct 31, 2007 21:31:55 | Mind you, if DDI is handles as well as this....![]() |
| #14burgundy_lotusNov 03, 2007 12:40:07 | Support please! |
| #15burgundy_lotusNov 03, 2007 12:55:32 | I just sent an email off to customer service so hopefully they'll answer soon. |
| #16ozgarNov 04, 2007 22:16:29 | Have you tried creating your own templates? I have the game and it seems pretty simple to create your own characters. But I would like something official..... :throws mug at nearest person: BARRRR FIIGGHHHTTTT!!!! :D |
| #17zaviaNov 04, 2007 22:24:19 | well, y dont u recreate the template, and post it here? :D |
| #18burgundy_lotusNov 05, 2007 6:47:18 | well, y dont u recreate the template, and post it here? :D Hopefully we won't need to resort to that, though if we do I'm sure we can come up with something reasonable. |
| #19veronusNov 05, 2007 8:45:12 | I'd prefer the official template as well. I mean, I could make my own games for most of all this stuff...but I prefer the official stuff. It's kind of like Pancakes......I can make them at home...but they are much better at the restaraunt for some reason ;) |
| #20ladyjorascoNov 06, 2007 14:20:07 | sooo......its november now....wheres our OCTOBER products support?! |
| #21davethebrave371Nov 08, 2007 11:04:50 | sooo......its november now....wheres our OCTOBER products support?! No kidding. ![]() |
| #22ciphertheoryNov 08, 2007 12:40:26 | My first reaction: Listen to the birthing cries of the Digital Initiative. ![]() My second reaction: Has anyone contacted Customer Service about this issue? Complaining about it on the boards won't get anything accomplished since the WotC employees who could do something about this issue rarely check the boards. Contacting customer service will get a much more expedient response. ![]() My third reaction: If customer service was contacted about this issue: see my first response. ![]() |
| #23burgundy_lotusNov 08, 2007 18:59:06 | Has anyone contacted Customer Service about this issue? Did it last Saturday, still no response. |

| #25burgundy_lotusNov 09, 2007 18:55:53 | They should have had it worked out before the game shipped, not think about it after, but at least they are going to do something... eventually. |
| #26jamesmay1983Nov 09, 2007 21:07:59 | I appreciate the humilty the designer showed by admitting his mistake on the template. It just goes to show that Wizards is not a group of evil money hungry people, but are normal people who have normal problems. |

Who's to say we have it all right, the line from HHttG- "thanks for all the fish" pops to my mind with that comment... :D I hope that when the template page does come up and running we can print out the homemade cards. Sure it might take some cutting gluing or maybe laminating but it would be good. |
| #29memphistoDec 05, 2007 9:26:55 | I love this game - IMO it's far more enjoyable and easy to pick up than Three Dragon Ante. However, it sure would be nice to have an update as to when WotC might be delivering template addition support to this game. |

| #31glocknerDec 05, 2007 19:29:50 | I bought the game without the knowledge that there was some template or other. I am fine without one. By looking at the stats, I can see that all of the characters are 1st level at best, who would want to go into a fight with their 18th level wizard? Why bother? |
| #32burgundy_lotusDec 05, 2007 20:17:33 | I bought the game without the knowledge that there was some template or other. I am fine without one. The female Elf wizard has Fireball so I'd say more around 7th. |
| #33decivreDec 13, 2007 6:20:40 | Do they plan to post a PDF of the book like they did with Three-Dragon Ante? Mine is already pretty thrashed, and a digital one would make it easier to teach others the rules (just hand them a printed copy and tell them to keep it). |
| #34moparfanaticDec 30, 2007 21:50:49 | Well the new year is almost upon us, has anyone seen or heard anything about the official template??? Odds are it has been directed to the Baaaaaaaack burners of development with the rest of the crew still hammering out 4E stuff. :raincloud |
| #35davethebrave371Dec 31, 2007 0:57:44 | Honestly, I wouldn't expect it until 4e is almost upon us. |

| #38decivreFeb 16, 2008 14:15:27 | Where's the pdf for 3 dragon ante? Right here. |
| #39memphistoFeb 27, 2008 12:20:03 | http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drdd/20071109 Ok, so it's been four months since this product launched and about three since the developer posted that support was on its way "soon". What gives? If the idea was half-baked in the first place and there's no moving forward, why not just say so? Saying there's an acceptable alternative support solution that will be ready soon and then having silence for 90 days isn't a great way to win customers. If at this point it's been held up indefinitely I think many customers would understand, but customers aren't going to assume this without hearing or reading about it. How long does it take a designer to post a 20 - 50 word communication with general (no promises) content? This is basic stuff, guys. Get some QC on board this tiny ship, Hasbro. |
| #40eloquentrune1Mar 06, 2008 13:22:38 | I recently purchased this product and was very excited when I saw that it would be possible to go to the site shown on the card and use a template to turn one of your characters into a card for the game. I went to the site it just showed me the product I had already purchased. Then to my amazement after I googled Inn-Fighting template i found this thread... I looked at the R&D article and I can't believe that this is still happening when that article was created in November... 3 months is not soon at all. I wanted this game to add a new element to the dnd games I DM. My players like bar fights and we created some rules for them. I thought this would be a good edition. But, since the developers have neglected to even finish it and just leave the customers waiting for something that they were told they would get in a product they spent hard earned money on. why should I have faith that the company will finish future products? |
| #41asbestosApr 14, 2008 22:11:43 | I can understand that they were devoting more time to 4e but now that its at the printers... can we please get some support for this? Please, Rob Heinsoo/Logan Bonner! bestow us with a template! As a side note can someone else aid me with special case rules clarification? Say that all players just need to gain one attacks worth of VP and Player A attacks the adventurer of Player B. Player C attempts to thwart this by playing the action card 'Stumblebum' and redirecting the attack towards Player A. One: is this even a possible use for Stumblebum? Two: Who would get the VP if anyone? Three: If said attack hits and attacking player gets the VP... do they win? |
| #42WotC_ScottRApr 17, 2008 10:44:47 | One of the Wizos just brought this to my attention. I can't promise anything right now as we have a lot going on but I have raised the question with the web team. I'll let you know the outcome. thanks |

| #44WotC_ScottRApr 17, 2008 22:37:15 | So I spoke with a web dev and a web producer. This is one their radar but they don't know how long it will take to make it. Rob Heinsoo knows we owe it but 4e has been taking a lot of his time. I'll bug them about it again soon. |
| #45narackApr 24, 2008 6:53:41 | Thanks Scott |
| #46zaviaApr 24, 2008 7:27:43 | ask them to pass us the image files and all that, we will do the rest :D Im hoping to be able to get it in a month or so, was waiting to see if the template would EVER come inorder to see a preview. If i do manage to get it, is it allowed for us to make templates by ourselves? |
| #47neoboltsAug 07, 2008 8:55:11 | I was looking for some new card games.Just picked this up at my local gaming shop this week, along with Zombie Fluxx. It was dissapointing to find out it has an unsupported/abandoned create-a-character feature. Any hope for this feature being added? |
| #48davethebrave371Aug 07, 2008 19:48:55 | Apparently this will never actually be realized, which is a real disappointment. It was the selling point for me, actually. |
| #49annadeusAug 07, 2008 22:23:57 | This is so typical of Wizards of the Coast. I don't know why I bother to buy any of your products anymore. We just happened to pick this up at the store today, really enjoyed the game and wanted to try using the template to convert our characters as it advertised. What a sham. Spend a bit of time and make the template. This isn't rocket science. My husband and I have some ideas on this. We are going to work on our own personal system for converting characters, play-test it, and will post our formula here as soon as we have it sorted out. If Wizards wants to remove the post for some kind of copyright infringement then so be it (I have no idea if that would even constitute a violation). |
| #50legdiwenaAug 09, 2008 10:19:41 | Probably a case for false advertising since they say you can do something and then turn around and so no |
| #51akodoAug 09, 2008 17:07:05 | it depends on how it was pacakged. If the card was slipped in as an additional goodie, then no. However, if the ability to use your current DnD character is listed on the outside of the box, or in a company made avertisement, then yes, WOTC owes you a refund, and then some. If a third party (gamestore owner, web store advertisement, etc) pointed out to you that there would be a card inside with a web address for converting your character, then that is the person you should see about your refund |
| #52valhiemOct 04, 2008 20:51:14 | almost a year since it came out, 4th ed has been released, soooo where's our template? |
| #53davethebrave371Oct 05, 2008 1:49:24 | almost a year since it came out, 4th ed has been released, soooo where's our template? No ****ing kidding. |
| #54legdiwenaOct 06, 2008 10:53:27 | Have you actually deluded yourself into believing it will ever come out? |
| #55WotC_ScottROct 06, 2008 12:11:35 | One of the Wizos just brought this to my attention. I have followed up on this again with the web team this morning. Thanks to WizO_Paradox for reminding me about this |
| #56sasfatuOct 15, 2008 5:49:42 | Hi, as there is still no template available. I'd like to put some content into this thread so that Wiz knows that the "IF"Player haven't died out. ![]() Several times I have thought of putting that game into my RPG campaign, like I did with 3DA. However it was not so easy to adapt the rules to my requirements. One thing is that I'd like the party to join a tavern fight in order to get a fugitive to hand him over to the watch. But how can I acomplish that 6 party member don't hit each other instead of the other participants of the fight? So I thought of something like "put an NPC in between two players" (i.e. this order: P1, NPC, P2, NPC, P3, NPC, P1, ...). That would mean that anytime one will do an attack to the left or to the right he will hit an NPC. If it comes to the rule "hit the leader" I'd like to give them a 50% chance to hit the fugitive or the leader, regardless if the leader is a player or an NPC. If one of the Players has been knocked out, another can join the fight (as I have 5 Players in my party) If one of the NPC has been knocked out another NPC will join (so I will allow only two spare NPC). I hope you get my ideas. Do you have maybe similiar ideas on how to put Inn-Fighting into your RPG campaign?? Sorry if my english is not good enough to give you a better understanding. Regards |
| #57narackOct 18, 2008 9:21:29 | We are October 18, 2008, 1 year after release, still no template. |
| #58vladdimirOct 28, 2008 14:31:38 | At this point, I don't think anything official is going to happen. At least, I'm not about to hold my breath. I figure I'm just going to take some characters I like and convert them to "Inn-fighting", using the official characters as reference to keep everything balanced. Just an idea. |
| #59yoda369pOct 29, 2008 21:12:21 | I was just about to subscribe to DDI, then I saw this thread again, I remember this thread, and its a pretty darn good reason to make me think about it. If wizards tech teams can't make this, what can I expect from DDI? Really, a year? Dare I say the "V" word? Yes! Vaporwear! |
| #60parad0czNov 03, 2008 8:01:45 | Hey, i just got the game. I work at a pirate bar(no joke) and it was perfect for the sunday afternoon gaming. We want to do a overhaul- make the Piratz Tavern version of Inn Fighting with our characters. Lets go to the template page! But wait... huh? ::Searches internet::: A year late? Seriously? I've got 4 people wanting to buy it and mod it... and this? Im sure Wizards hears complaints like this every day but... im dissapointed. I love, love this game. Having 5 pirates, gamers all, who work at a friggin pirate bar, playing a game about a bar brawl on the Captain's table? Best thing ever. But when Wizards, premiere gaming company goes a year without promised support? Thats... well horrible. I guess its not as important as there are far less player of IF than others of there lines... but still. A year? I mean, wizards has already gotten a rep for poor online handling through MTGO. And thats a flagship product. What hope is there for an online suppliment to a year old standalone(not collectible for more cash!) card game? Even one as fun as this one, which still seems to have interesteed fans over a year later? Just adding my voice I guess. |
| #61RiTz21Dec 21, 2008 9:43:41 | Yesterday, my D&D gang introduced me to this game... I really liked it!! My first comment about it was "hey, we could convert our characters into this game, and do a 'real brawl' in the D&D sessions we play using our characters! (D&D3.5) So a goggle search brought me here... No templates yet? Well, it would always be possible to 'design' the templates ourselves - Has anyone tried? If there were community-designed rules about this, I could 'merge' those rules inside my D&D3.5/PFinder product and automatically Generate the inn-Fighting characters! RiTz21 |
| #62axel-silverDec 31, 2008 20:06:16 | And here we are at the end of the year and still no template. I just got this game, and I'm not so sure my players are that attached to their characters, but it would be nice to see some support from Wizards. |
| #63horobodbabaJan 04, 2009 23:59:12 | I made a picture for it because I didn't have a scanner. You can edit it in an image editing program. It looks kind of dumb but it is the most people can have now isn't it? |
| #64horobodbabaJan 05, 2009 0:30:06 | Here is an example of one that I got an idea from the Metal Gear Solid video Crab Battle! It really isn't that hard to do or make. Paint works the best and make sure it is on "Draw Opaque" for putting in text. |
| #65seventhsonJan 19, 2009 13:54:20 | I'm really surprised that I didn't see this coming. I bought this yesterday, and here I am surprised, of all things, that Wizards hasn't lived up to their promises once again. This all reminds me of the pre-wizards days of TSR right before they collapsed in a flaming heap. They are just SO disorganized and so incredibly incapable of doing anything right, it just makes me squirm. These guys could screw up a cup of coffee. I mean, we're gamers! Put something crappy out there and let us forget about it, rather than tempt us with the promise of future non-existent support. We'll improve your crappy idea! Get the ball rolling on it. Can't hurt. |
| #66gorthmogApr 12, 2009 1:20:21 | Just stumbled across an unofficial template: D&D Inn-Fighting Un-official Template Hopefully this will tide us over until the official one makes its appearance. ;) |

It's like you people are actively *searching* for things to ***** about. Quoted for truth. It is horrendous to complain about a company when more than likely your entire closet (or gameroom) is stock full of their products, and then some. They mess up sometimes, that's simply Chaos Theory in a complex system. If Wizards wasn't here, guys, there would be no DnD. No other company would be able to lend the support for this brand as Wizards has done. It's fine to get mad at a company for not fulfilling a promise, but to lash out at the company as a whole for a little mistake instead of just complaining about the mistake is EXTREME over-reacting. If my nerd rage ever gets that bad, I would rather just quit gaming instead of constantly *****ing on the forums. |

| #70CelticPaladinApr 12, 2009 11:15:58 | Your sanity is refreshing, good sir. It's just depressing to me to always come on these forums and see people jumping up and down in rage over small things. Yes, a company is definitely supposed to be held accountable for it's mistakes, but when your transfer your rage to the company as a whole, and transform it in your mind to this faceless monster, rather than focusing on criticizing what needs to be criticized, you aren't only turning yourself into a monster, but you are certainly not helping the company that we all depend on for quality Dungeons and Dragons products. I think a big problem is this strange sense of entitlement people have. That's why I find this 'pdf' scandal so ridiculous. Sure, they need to rectify people who need rectified, and they certainly need to work on getting their PDFs back up in some manner, but to think that you are entitled or have a right to any sort of product simply shows the strange mindset of our consumer based economy. (I'll end my rant there. I'd rather not start spieling about needing a production based economy.) |

TGIF, thank god for inn-fighting and thank you to the other player who built a website for Wizards.com D&D Inn-Fighting Un-official Template Stuart Helm |
| #75HauntmasterDec 27, 2013 21:00:17 | OK, I just bought this and brought home anxious to link up my Inn-Fighter character conversion template and to no avail. Then came to this forum and found out I was not the only person who had suffered. Perhaps we can see Wiz do something for GenCon when D&D Next will be released... I will have to try the unofficial template and see if it surfice.
|
| #76HauntmasterJan 18, 2014 16:59:58 | I see alot of complaints on this subject but I believe I have a simple solution. Is it cost effective for Wizards of the Coast to just add the coding into the character builder online? This would take the character information on the character sheet and just add another template along with the encounters, at-wills, dailys, and magic items. This would also create exposure to existing D&D players who may want to add this option into their gaming.
I got a chance to paly Inn-Fighter and would love to add this feature to my gaming group who are in the Legacy of the Crystal Shard. I can see this working well with Murder at Balder's Gate module which was released a couple of months ago.
