I was just looking at the product info page for the Eberron Player's Guide and it said nothing about new races, just new race options. Does that mean the warforged and the other Eberron races won't be in that book?

I don't think that means much. FRPG little blurb on WoTC doesn't even mentions races.

Warforged are effectively confirmed for EPG. And as a side note, aren't new races new race options?

Yes, they are. Case solved.

didn't they also say at some point however, that they would not print any races in dragon in a hard book? I seem to remember that.

Quite the opposite. They said that at various points in the future, they'd compile some Dragon articles into a kind of "Best of" book.

The cover for the first of those Dragon collected acticle books can be seen at Enworld.

Nope, it's just a popular myth.* It would be wise to discard it, too, if you want to avoid some pointless and fiery debates.

(*Note that this doesn't make the Dragon Magazine versions any less official or "core".)

Nope. No Warforged in Ebberon, and definitly not in the Handbook for players for that exact campaign world.

Since the cancellation of the Dungeon book, I had to check to see if the Dragon is still on schedule. It is in fact on schedule just wondering what they would put out in a HC edition.

So would one be able to conclude that if a Hard Copy edition of reprinted material sells well we might actually get hard copies of our mags once again?

For the no Warforged in the Eberron PG? Who cares it is Eberron after all. Next thing you would want is your 1 CR Drow since the FR had 2 CR :P So something has to be different.

Yes, but it has been mentioned before that Races and Classes will not be a part of that publication.

I doubt it. Chris Perkins was pretty blunt here

I sincerely hope that changes.

I don't expect it to change in my lifetime.

Even before the current economic crisis, print magazines were dying on the vine. It's a poor business — particularly now. Anyone who tells you different is ill-informed, possibly even dumb.

Online content is cheaper to produce than print content (no print vendors, no warehousing, no returns, etc.) AND it gets more eyeballs. A lot more eyeballs. Thousands upon thousands more eyeballs. And it's a more flexible, versatile, and timely format than print.

That said, I understand how cool it is to actually hold something tangible in your hands and flip through it. That's why we're continuing to produce the monthly PDF compilations and the annual hardcover compilations (such as the Dragon Annual releasing this fall).

I have other magazines that are actually print. Some of which I can even look at it online. One of them is Smart Computing, with my sub to that I can look at their archives and the other 4 magazines they print all for 1 price. But I don't as I would rather read a magazine with holding it in my hands and not looking at a screen.

I'm actually glad that they don't print them anymore. With their sheer lack of quality they put in a MRSP $34.99 book I would hate to see what we would get out of a magazine that is a faction of the price.

If you'd rather buy a printed copy of Dragon or Dungeon Magazine, expect to pay $10 or more per issue, and for it to be at least half advertisements; that's the only way the magazines could sustain themselves. Some magazines still have quite a few readers, (TIME for example), but remember that D&D magazines are a tiny niche.

I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that. I know full well that dragon is core as are all other wizard produced products that have crunch in them.

What I meant (and you implied) is that no races from dragon will be in the Eberron Players Guide. I seem to remember something about the dragon compiltation book (though I have to admit I understood it as being another magazine with the best in one issue, but you have corrected me). This all boils down to *there will probably not be warforged in the EPG* which was the opinion that I was trying to get across.

Sorry for the misunderstanding

Except that they have basically stated that the warforged will be in the EPG, so the warforged will almost certainly be in the book.

Almost will have to be since there really isn't rules on attaching and embedding things in the dragon magazine.

Once that happens you will see 2 hd swords with shield robots running around.

if that was the case you would be able to attach a 2h sword in the character builder since that article is how old....

Yes, it's all right there.

Perhaps it's intentional that you can't equip a two-handed sword and a shield at the same time, attached/embedded components or not?

It's okay! I didn't mean to sound hostile either.

That said, I didn't mean to imply that Warforged wouldn't be in the Eberron Player's Guide either, because I believe they will be and should be. What I meant about Dragon Magazine still being core is that one shouldn't assume that the version of Warforged that will appear in the Eberron Player's Guide will necessarily invalidate the version from Dragon, assuming there's a significant difference.

If there is a significant difference between the Dragon and EPG versions of Warforged, I'd assume that the EPG version would be the "official" version insomuch that it would replace the Dragon version in the Character Builder.

The CB doesn't support warfoged components, as WotC hasn't yet determined how to code for the feature. It's a known limitation and listed in the FAQ for the program.

It's not like it makes all that much difference. Component armor weighs less (but can be simulated since item weight is customizable. A component heavy shield still lets you hold an item in your off hand but the CB doesn't account for that even with light shields. All components can't be removed/disarmed against the warforged's will, but the CB is only for making characters, not managing gameplay.

A Warforged with attached or embedded components is MAKING THE CHARACTER. It has nothing to do with managing the gameplay.

Critical thinking ....

So? Edit the item's name and add the words "attached component". As far as a character sheet is concerned that's all the difference there is. The CB may be an incredibly tool for generating a character sheet, but in the end it is still just a character sheet.

Doesn't that invalidate the point of the big collection books then? If the best bits are being posted elsewhere, why bother putting them in a collection? I know that there is a lot of other stuff to come but I think that the warforged should have at least something left in that article. Maybe the components or the attachment. Just something

I really like how you totally ignored the substance of his post, which answered all your previous questions, and instead just screamed at his very last comment, which was clearly only an aside and not important to the main issue.

Well played, sir, well played.

It's just one article out of dozens. Even if they do put all the info from the Warforged article in the EPG, there will still be too many decent articles left to fit them all into the hardcover anyway.
