| #6angrymojoJan 18, 2009 18:37:12 | Rage.....growing.....GRRRRRRR. Lol, **** I wish I was you. You like it? Oh, I love it. Much like Draconomicon, but with more information for atmospheric techniques. Oh, and the top level undead lair is freaking awesome. |
| #7TheLoneClericJan 18, 2009 19:16:08 | How much ritual goodness do we get? Items tied to undead? Undead thought process & tactics? |
| #8angrymojoJan 18, 2009 19:29:59 | We've got a few pages of rituals, not too many though. Only items are undead grafts, meant for NPCs only. There is, however, a sidebar of possible penalties you could apply to a PC if he received a graft. A good chunk of the book is based on undead origins, society etc. |
| #9TheLoneClericJan 18, 2009 19:56:57 | A good chunk of the book is based on undead origins, society etc. Boss! |
| #10angrymojoJan 18, 2009 20:04:11 | Boss! Oh, I love the new format for the monster books. Lots of information on making them come to life instead of being piles of stat blocks. Oh, also, very nice ways to deal with zombie throngs. Ever wanted to throw three thousand zombies at your PC's? Well now you can. In fact, just about every type of undead from the MM gets some stage time. More ways to use mummies, liches, vampires, ghosts, zombies, skeletons, ghouls, ghosts, you name it. |
| #11TheLoneClericJan 18, 2009 20:34:20 | Swarm rules help out a lot. But the new 'type' monster books are way better than endless Monster Manuals. Not that a new MM with really fun themes isn't bad. |
| #12pigknightJan 18, 2009 20:47:00 | What's the lowest level monsters inside? |
| #13DeathMutantLivesJan 18, 2009 20:51:55 | Oh, also, very nice ways to deal with zombie throngs. I originally read that sentence as dealing with "zombie thongs"! Now, please excuse me, I need to get a towel to wipe-off the coffee from my monitor. . . |
| #14angrymojoJan 18, 2009 21:16:33 | What's the lowest level monsters inside? You've got a trio of level 1 minions, then some from level 2 onwards. |
| #15angrymojoJan 18, 2009 21:17:18 | I originally read that sentence as dealing with "zombie thongs"! Now is that a thong that a zombie wears, or a dead thong that has been animated into a zombie? |
| #16Kobold_AvengerJan 18, 2009 22:48:13 | I'm not sure which is more disturbing... |
| #17ssvegeta555Jan 18, 2009 22:55:54 | Any undead minion goodies beyond the undead servitor ritual? |
| #18trooperJan 18, 2009 23:10:44 | There is a Template for a Plague Zombie and it says on hit gives an infection of zombie plague then reads see below. There is nothing there that tells what this is? Anyone out there know? Thanks |
| #19TheLoneClericJan 19, 2009 6:05:02 | No call out, or blocked out text on that page? |
| #20angrymojoJan 19, 2009 19:18:09 | No call out, or blocked out text on that page? Just no sidebar at all. I'm hoping they put out the info somehow. Otherwise, zombie thongs will happen. |
| #21fiendish_dire_weaselJan 19, 2009 19:53:50 | So, like Draconomicon 1, nothing for players? |
| #22sallaJan 19, 2009 20:16:30 | So, like Draconomicon 1, nothing for players? There's the ten or so rituals, but yeah, past that, it's a DM's book. No Paragon Paths, no racial writeups (MM style or otherwise), no feats, no magic items aside from artifacts. |
| #23TheLoneClericJan 19, 2009 21:03:04 | The most recent Dragon Article Legacy of Acererak dumps a lot of more player centric stuff that ties to Open Grave. |
| #24SadisticFishingJan 21, 2009 7:10:08 | Personally, I basically opened the book straight to Vecna. Before reading him, I thought "Vecna should NEVER be statted out! He's the God of Being Smarter Than You. How will he ever get into a fight that he loses?" But after reading him, I think I understand. There's just something so... cocky about the fact that he's so simple. I wuv it. <3 Sadly, Vecna has always been my favorite deity, and so if I ever put my group up against him... he'd probably win. Other than that, it's in the same vein as Draconomicon, and better than Manual of the Planes, imho. Tons of cool monsters in it as well. |
