I am working on a campaign with schools of magic and I'm trying to consider how to convert it to 4E. Lerin |

If you are talking just Arcane power classes, there will be two new ones in Player's Handbook II coming out in March (the Bard and the Sorcerer), one new one in the Forgotten Realms campaign book (the Swordmage), and one in the Eberron campaign book (the Artificer). So you'll have six Arcane classes when all is said and done. Illusions have begun to appear as spells for Arcane classes in Dragon Magazine, so it's quite possible that an "illusionist" build might appear for Wizards in the upcoming Arcane Power splatbook in April. You'll quite possibly also see some illusion spells falling into the Bard's pervue. Finally, there's been constant rumors of an Illusionist class appearing under the Shadow power source (which would appear in either Player's Handbook III or IV), but that is far from certain. Necromancer is also a rumored class under the Shadow power source, and I would imagine is much more likely than an Illusionist class. I myself would doubt that you'll see a specific "conjurer" class, and instead you'll see conurations and summonings appear from time to time in other classes. WotC has already said they wanted to cut back on the "players controlling more than one person during battle" syndrome, which is why animal companions and familiars were removed. So a class that does nothing but summon other creatures to fight would not be as likely as some other ideas I would imagine. |
