| #2greymanMar 05, 2010 6:44:58 | Area bursts within weapon range. Wisdom vs. Will. Conjuration. Nice. So it looks as though the Seeker is an archery based primal controler, as expected, using Wisdom as the primary ability. |
| #3jedi123Mar 05, 2010 7:26:43 | Area bursts within weapon range. Wisdom vs. Will. Conjuration. If I rcall correctly there is the dex archeryh build and str thrown weapon build |
| #4KrikaMar 05, 2010 14:07:31 | Congradulations, Greyman, you have figured out what we insiders have known for quite some time now, including this PP. @Jedi123: You remember correctly. |
| #5Silver_BlazeMar 05, 2010 14:30:27 | Congradulations, Greyman, you have figured out what we insiders have known for quite some time now, including this PP. Saying this probably wasn't necessary. |
| #6thescalesoffateMar 05, 2010 14:41:09 | Silver_Blaze, I'd like you to meet my friend, teh internetz. =P |
| #7Silver_BlazeMar 05, 2010 14:50:13 | Silver_Blaze, I'd like you to meet my friend, teh internetz. =P Yeah... We are old aquaintances. ![]() I still don't know what to think of the Seeker. It seems like an interesting class, but I just haven't been able to get the controller vibe out of it. I guess I will just have to see the finished product (both builds). |
| #8KrikaMar 05, 2010 15:03:28 | Yes, that came out a bit more....insulting than I intended. I take that back. Still, what he was saying was stuff that insiders have known for quite some time. I guess I was a bit more snarky (not sure if thats the right word...) that I intended. I meant it in a friendly way, not an insulting way. Still, I take it back completely. You're right, it should not have been said. |
| #9tai_saitouMar 05, 2010 16:30:02 | Above-average PP for an already above-average class (from what we've seen)? Yeah, I like the Seeker a lot, methinks. |
| #10Lord_VentnorMar 05, 2010 16:40:58 | I still wish that WotC wouldn't preview things that Insiders have already seen (for several months now). Let's have new content for Insiders and Outsiders alike. |
| #11Janx_14Mar 05, 2010 18:26:36 | This is the first noticible thing previewed that we have seen before. |
| #12egg_thallid_sandwichMar 05, 2010 22:10:03 | there is one thing that confuses me about the seeker which I guess I'll have to wait to find out because it involves the other build... its widely known that the other build uses thrown weapons. what pops into my head first is hand-axes and i think that sounds kinda fun. then i take a look at their weapon profs and the only thrown weapons they can use are the dagger and the javelin. so it seems they haven't got a lot of options when it comes to what they can throw? maybe they can throw things that aren't in the light/heavy thrown category. Wis/Str means LT shifters and minotaurs will be good at this build but can you imagine a mino lobbing a tiny dagger at you, blah, not interested unless I can throw something big and cool otherwise the bow build seems nice i'm just worried the thrown build will suck. |
| #13Lord_VentnorMar 05, 2010 23:14:52 | I think that as part of a specific class feature, the Thrown Weapon Seeker gets proficiencies with military heavy thrown weapons. Much like the Archer Warlord automatically gets proficiency with military ranged weapons, and Wrathful Runepriests get proficiency with military hammers. At least, I think I remember reading something to that effect. |
| #14egg_thallid_sandwichMar 06, 2010 18:55:50 | Spirit Bond: you gain the spirit's rebuke power. you also gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls with both light and heavy thrown weapons and when you make an attack by throwing a weapon with which you have proficiency, the weapon returns to your hand after the attack. Additionally while you are not wearing heavy armor you may use your Str mod in place of your dex mod to determine your AC. Spirit's Rubuke seeker feature You dodge your enemy's attack, and spirits coalesce around you to punish your attacker. encounter * primal, weapon immediate reaction melee weapon requirement: you must be wielding a light or heavy thrown weapon. trigger: an enemy misses you with an attack. target: the triggering enemy. effect: the target takes 1 [W] + your str mod dmg, and you push it one square. some of the attack powers for this build can be used as melee attacks aswell as ranged but specify that to be used as a melee attack you must be wielding a thrown weapon thusly they may be used for both builds since they can still be used with a bow just not for melee. but on page 120 of PHB3 we can see a seeker wielding dual handaxes... but handaxes are military melee and the seeker only has simple melee, simple ranged and military ranged weapon profs. it says nothing about gaining prof with heavy thrown like the wrathful hammer runepriest does with hammers. so its not build specific sadly. i guess its not a big deal, the handaxe is almost identical to the javelin mechanically. maybe i'll blow a feat on drow long knife which does the same amount of damage as both the javelin and handaxe but with a +3 prof bonus. |
