Normally when a product is comming out we get excerts or at least something on the "in the works". This product is scheduled to be released this month and there hasn't been ANYTHING!. It wasn't in the in the works for this month or last month. It's not listed on the calandar either. It sounds like a decent product. Any thoughts on this?

It's only like 30 some pages. To give a preview would be to give away a significant part of the book.

really? it's suppose to have new feats, paragon paths and epic destinies for dragonborn. That's an awful small amount of pages. Regardless, it should have at least been mentioned on the "in the works" or the calendar. That seems kind of odd to me.

It was mentioned a while back in an "in the works" or else in an "____ and Beyond" preview. We got an item or something, and a PPath, if I recall correctly.  No more than that, or it'll be too much. There's 32 pages.

In Ampersand a few months pack we got a Paragon path, the Ninefold Master or some such. Revolved around turning your breath weapon into a powerful Arcane attack along with other goodies. Meant for Dragonborn Arcane users. It's rather nifty.

Ninefold Master? That sounds like something from the Tome of Battle.

Even with, like, ten pages of fluff, a full-art page or two, and a table of contents and copyright page, that's still fifteen solid pages of crunch. (And that's if the book has really a ton of fluff, like the 3.5 "Races Of..." series.) That's enough space for a half dozen paragon paths, a few epic destinies, and dozens of feats, plus some items.

I hear what you guys are saying, but its not even mentioned in the calendar. I just find that odd.

It might have moved back to February… I just went to preorder it in my local bookstore, and they said that it's either coming out in late January and February: they don't know yet.

I got a message from Amazon.com (Where I typically buy my books from) today saying it was coming out January 19th, and was now available to order via their site.

I think that it's still coming out on January 19th, but I don't know why they don't have it up on the calendar.
They've got the release of the art gallery for it on the calendar for the 20th, though.

Chances are they'll have more though.

It would be cool to see specific race+class combos, like a inpiring warlord PP that said something like "allies fight more with a dragon on their side", adding +Cha to saving trows after dragon's breath or something (not the best example).

I got the book just last weekend. I rather liked it. It presented some good fluff, 4 paragon paths, an epic destiny, and a lot of feats.

I have the book now.  The fluff is top notch.

I really have a feel for the race now.

What it does is discuss a bit about the Race within the Power Sources and then gives a PP basedon that Power Source.  The PPs are Power Source and not class specific, so most of the powers are Wisdom + 4 vs. Reflex, etc.

There's feats, some new items, a new item set, an Epic Destinyt and a bunch of Backgrounds.  Soem really good fluff too.

Here's what I posted on the LFR boards for the folks over there:
UPS just dropped off my copy.  I haven'tr had a chance to do more than glance through it since I'm running late for work, but I figured I'd suffer the wrath to take a bit to report my first glance in case anyoen was curious about it.

It's 32 pages.  Surprisingly, it has a fair amount of fluff in it.  Each section is divided into 2 page spreads with some exceptions.

1. It starts off with a short story, which I consider pseudo-fluff since it can give you insight into a subject.
2. "Blood of Io" which gives some legends of how the Dragonborn race was created and soem other info.
3. "Scions of Arkhosia" which gives some background on Arkhosia.  Not useful for FR, but interesting all the same.
4. "Family and Clan" gives a little info on Dragonborn societal makeup and callout on names.  The section is 2 half-columns and one full column.  The fluff is one half-column and the other 1-1/2 columns is backgrounds.

5-8. Power Source Sections: These sections run 3 pages each and give a bit of info on Dragonborn being from classes in that Power Source.  It's not unlike the newer Dragon articles that talk about a class and discuss the best suited races for it.  This is much briefer though.  It has backgrounds for the power source inspired character and a single paragon path for Arcane, Divine, Martial and Primal.

9. Dragonborn Feats.  Self explanatory.  4 pages of feats for the three tiers.
10. Drafgonborn Items.  Again, self explanatory.  3 pages of items.
11. Dragonborn Quests.  Gives info on tier appropriate quests a dragoborn character may wish to pursue.  Mostly for DMs, but the last page does have Epic Destiny called Avatar of Io.

I have only skimmed it briefly but it seems to have a good amount of fluff to go with the new crunch.

I really liked the emphasis on Fluff over Crunch.  When we were speculating on the book, it sounded like there would be not enough fluff.

There's just enough crunch to be interested in it mechanically, but the fluff is priceless.

Definitely worth the $10 dollar pop.

Anyone care to post any feats that caught your attention? I'm getting mine on the weekend, but I really do want some spoils to tease me... ^^

Alright, alright, if you insist. Cool

The feats that caught my attention were a set of Dragon Breath modifying feats in Paragon and Epic tiers. There are five of each, one based off of each energy type that Dragon Breath uses, and modifies the power accordingly.

For example, the feat that modifies cold damage inflicts slow on all characters who are hit by the Dragon Breath, and the lightning breath feat adds thunder damage along with a push effect.

The epic tier feat then builds on the Paragon tier feat. The epic tier cold breath feat immobilizes foes, and the lightning breath epic tier feat adds a daze effect to foes hit by the breath.

I hoped that's whetted your appetite a little.

Weren't those ported from the Ecology article?

Weren't those ported from the Ecology article?

Nope.  Not even close.  The ecology feats were adding additional damage types (one feat for adding a type & you have to choose between them when using, and one for doing both types at once), changing from a blast to a ranged burst, a healing surge booster.
