#1 gadren Oct 11, 2009 3:16:38	Didn't see any recent topics on this: www.wizards.com/dnd/Product.aspx?x=dnd/p... Looks like we're getting a 32 page book for $10 that's all about Dragonborn. Not sure how I feel about this. Thoughts?
#2 JohnLynch Oct 11, 2009 4:43:15	My interest in it will rely entirely on: How much extra fluff there is compared with what we've already gotten How compatible the fluff is with Goodman Games version How good the fluff is. If this is simply Dragon magazine repackaged, I'll pass. If its completely incompatible with the Goodman Games fluff and is inferior to the Goodman Games fluff then I'll pass. Either way, as a DM I'll let my players get this book (and similar ones). But if the Goodman Games fluff is better I'll do so with the warning that the fluff may be incorrect.
#3 salla Oct 11, 2009 5:21:07	I'm not interested in Dragonborn, so I'll give it a pass.  Any crunchy stuff will end up in the Compendium, so if I need it I can just scoop it out of there.

#5 jedi123 Oct 11, 2009 7:57:51	I'm hoping this series has stuff for race class cominations, like the racial substitution levels we used to get in 3.5. Or at least race/class specific pp's. Something to highlight a race's unique place with in that class. Also more material on their place in settings other than Points of Light
#6 Artifact Oct 11, 2009 13:19:45	I was a big fan of the Gazetteer series of supplements for Basic D&D.  They were 64 pages, for about $8.00 as I remember.  If the Player's Handbook Races Series rekindles just a bit of that nostalgia, I'll be hooked.   The only bigger kick would be a return of boxed sets.  Anyone remember those? ;) Can't say Dragonborn hold much excitement for me.  This could be the book to change my feelings about the race though.  I'm anxious to see the Tiefling entry (my current PC is a tiefling taclord), and then maybe Gnomes (although I wasn't a fan before 4e). It's a nice change of pace  to be seeing D&D supplements other than hardcovers.  These booklets (will) have the advantage of being relatively cheap and easy to store.

I think Goodman Games did a good job with their racial handbooks, and i highly recomend them to anyone. I havnt checked out the Eldarin one yet but the Tiefling and Dragonborn one have some real good stuff in them. Definatly some of the better 3rd party offerings.

#11 drnick Oct 12, 2009 10:58:16	I think it's a fine way to insert a little more fluff into the world for those that want it. They're cheap enough that it doesn't really matter that they're not in the core books but they're also seperate so they're easy to ignore if you'd rather come up with your own stuff.

That said, it could be interesting to see their take on how the psychology of humans would be different in a world where they grew up around the other races, whether they posit it makes them more tolerant or less ...
#14 tieflingrogue Oct 13, 2009 23:46:57	I'd love to see a version of this for Tieflings. Ever since I found out about them they became my new favorite race, replacing drow. All the Drizzt fanbois sort of ruined that.:-p
#15 Neutronium_Dragon Oct 14, 2009 1:31:27	The preview books (Races and Classes mainly) talked about humans in the default setting, and they did have some specifics about human psychology and culture, rather than painting them as the 'generic-does-everything' stereotype of most settings and systems. As I recall, they were primarily plains dwellers who had a strong interest in horsemanship and were apt to jury rig things with concern for function over form (including fashion).
