I love monsters and monsters books, please give us lots of new monsterbooks with fresh new art. I think monsters must sell since you guys put them in nearly every hardcover book you made for third edition and you gave out five monster books and one fiends folio.
Hopefully in fourth edition you will make two or three monster books per year so we get more this time.

I know it's not going to be exactly what you're looking for but if I may suggest, hit up the dungeon and dragon articles and you can nab some new monsters or enhanced monsters from there, also it hasnt been confirmed(far as I know) but strongly suggested that campaign settings books will feature some campaign specific baddies, I know the eberron campaign brought forth the mighty Daelkyr, and even the vicious Drow Scorpion, as well as a slew of nasty abberations and new giants. So in the meantime you can feel free to pick some of those up and even if they're campaign specific monsters that doesnt mean you cant convert them

Well, the magazines aren't going to happen. As for the books, well, I hate to say it but times change. Things used to be written on stone tablets, then books came along. Were at an age where things used to be written in books, now they're written in computer code.

There will be an annual MM.

There will also be monsters in other places, as another poster said (campaign books and Manual of the Planes etc).

Well if you go by what we have currently:

PHB
MM
DMG
H1 adventure
H2 adventure
2 full issues of Dragon
2 full issues of Dungeon
a smattering of previews from FR:CG

With named NPCs and generic monsters we already have stat blocks for 668 monsters. That's quite a bit in just 2 months.

I know you don't care for printouts but Dragon and Dungeon are no longer pre-printed. You can take the PDF file to Kinkos and get it printed in color and it'd be about the same quality as a printed magazine anyway (possibly better considering hte art they put in the issues and no ads).

They should have waited until computers where as transportable, durable and easy to use as books.

I would like to see themed monster books. These would likely be smaller than a true MM, but would contain only undead, or only monstrous humanoids, or whatever other theme seems useful. They could be themed based on monster type, location found, or anything else. This way DMs wanting to run a game based on fighting aberrations could pick up the aberrations book and be done with it. Or if a DM wanted to set a game in the underdark, give him one book that is all underdark appropriate monsters. Personally, I wouldn't mind if these books overlapped, as in multiple books contained the same monster. I wouldn't buy all the books anyway, just the ones I need for a certain campaign.

You mean like "Draconomicon I: Chromatic Dragons" or "Open Grave: Secrets of the Undead"?

That's already a reality--it's just expensive.

If this Draconomicon is as good as 3.5E's, it's gonna rock! Plus, its existence suggests that there will be a Draconomicon II (probably about metallic dragons), and possibly even a Draconomicon III and IV! (Gem dragons, planar dragons, and catastrophe dragons could potentially all have their own volumes, too.)

Hmm it got a small screen for the typical dnd pdf. Damm them for using 30 percent of the page on huge ugly borders.
Does it take pdf at all? Are dnd books available on it?

I don't know if D&D books are available on it for download, but it does support PDF, and it even converts pictures to black-and-white.

Now THAT is what I'm talking about. Yes it's overpriced, but since it's the first thing I've seen doing what it does, that makes sense. As more of these show up, the price will come down. The funny thing is, I can't help but notice how much technology resembles star trek now. Those look just like those padd things from the newer treks.

Hey, WotC, you see this thing? You should make one your self, same price, when you get it you get the 3 core books, then you can buy all your other books in this format. I guarantee I would buy this over the dead tree versions. See, I walk to my friends house every weekend, and to carrying all my books is a PITA, but something like that would make it super easy. So, I'm going to officially ask for, instead of Amazon Kindle, ask for a WotC Kindle. In the long run, this tech would pay for it self.

Only problem is that gem dragons were not mentioned at all in the Monster Manual, so they may not have any plans to update them. The other dragons are almost definites for getting their own Draconomicon.

Well, Metallic dragons are definites. At this point, I'm sure the rest are "Let's see how the first two books sell first", especially given that we don't really even know what the heck catastrophe dragons look like yet. :P

Gem Dragons have long had their supporters, and I think there's room for them in 4E, for sure. They'll have to be reflavoured a bit, to be more than the "neutral counterparts of metallic and chromatic dragons" that they once were. They could be something to look forward to in MM5, for sure.

Honestly I would welcome gem dragons myself, but I think they are just going to take their time on them to make them work better. Incidently, I think they would appear in MM6 not MM5 as they already have 5 types of dragons listed out(so assuming they do one breed per MM, they don't run out till they get to 6).

Chromatic, Metallic, Planar, Catastrophe, and ...? Plus Gem dragons, of course.

Okay, now you've gotta help me out: which group am I forgetting?

Okay, I got off my butt and checked my MM. The answer I was looking for was "Scourge Dragons", which, yes, includes Linnorms. Text indicates that without wings or hind legs, "some scholars suggest" Scourge Dragons aren't "true" dragons, but instead oversized Drakes. (However, their inclusion in the list of "true" dragon families in the MM suggests otherwise.)

Oriental/Lung Dragons would be a seventh family, counting Gem Dragons as sixth.

Drakes don't count; they're not "true" dragons. :P

Landwyrms... "split thematically"/killed and had their stuff taken by Catastrophe Dragons, perhaps?

The gem dragons also might have been reworked into the planar dragons with possible planar relationships. Of course a couple might change like the talk of replacing two of the metallics with new types.

Amethyst: Prime
Crystal: Astral Sea
Emerald: Feywild
Obsidian: Shadowfell
Sapphire: Prime
Topaz: Elemental Chaos

This seems unlikely. The MM cites two examples of "Planar Dragons" as Shadow Dragons and Abyssal Dragons. There was a butt-load more in 3.5E's Draconomicon, too, although I do expect some major changes to the lineup, given the shift in cosmology.

Amen. Coolest "non-true" dragon ever.
