But on page 74 there is a picture of a spindly, red, spiky, mouthless thing with a big left arm that I've never seen before. It's in the Psionics Design & Development article, which leads me to think it's a new Psionic creature. But whether it's a PHB3 race or a MM3 monster, I have no idea. |

I thought it was some variation of this guy: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/leg_evil_gallery/psychic_sentinel.jpg The Jello Monster, as I call him. :P |
| #3warweaverJul 31, 2009 8:15:19 | Wacky theory - what if, in AV2 or PHB3, they bring back the Psychoactive Skin items of the previous edition? Maybe it's just a regular dude wearing one of those. :P |
| #4Cpt_MichaJul 31, 2009 8:30:12 | It would be interesting though. Good to see you back WW. |
| #5warweaverJul 31, 2009 14:32:58 | Hey, nice to be back, Micha. I think my natural cycle is to take this place in stints. :P |
| #6GhostStepperJul 31, 2009 20:47:00 | I had red, living crystal humanoid living constructs as a PC race in my psionic-only 3.5 game AND a sentient humanoid plant race. If this really is a PHB3 race, that makes 2 race concepts they stole directly from my brain for the PHB3! ;) |

They are supposed to be covered in living crystal. So what if they went all crystallized. Plus being Psionic it would fit. |

Plus being Psionic it would fit. That would be a pretty badass way to reimagine maenads. I wish all the races would have gotten such a radical reboot. |
| #9sigil_beguilerJul 31, 2009 21:14:50 | Oh and for those without the Dragon, here is what it looks like:![]() Another thought too if not a item or a race. Perhaps this is a radical example of Psycometabolism. You change yourself from a Carbon to Silicon based being. Which combined with the armour and sword (and possible melded shield) this could maybe be the new version of whatever class best fits the Psychic Warrior. |
| #10_Mithreinmaethor_Jul 31, 2009 21:30:54 | It could be a Wilden....female. |
| #11celticmuttAug 01, 2009 3:30:34 | It could be a Wilden....female. Nope. At least not as of the current art - they look just like the males, except ... kinda feminine. |
| #12sigil_beguilerAug 01, 2009 3:57:56 | Nope. At least not as of the current art - they look just like the males, except ... kinda feminine. Plus, they would have to really change around the fluff for that to be a Wilden. That doesn't look like any plant to me, unless we are talking silicon based plant here. |
| #13warweaverAug 01, 2009 4:24:49 | (Makes obligatory female wilden silicone joke) |
| #14LFKAug 01, 2009 11:07:23 | (Makes obligatory female wilden silicone joke) She's got carbon implants. |
| #15anubis_reynardAug 01, 2009 12:35:58 | She's got carbon implants. She's reducinng greenhouse gas emissions, so she bought carbon offsets? |
| #16lurker47689Aug 01, 2009 15:01:01 | Even if it isn't I would love to see these return. I think this is the most likely theory, since when I first looked at the pic earlier in the thread, that's all I could think of. |
| #17Axiomatic_BadgerAug 01, 2009 15:05:34 | She's got carbon implants. Diamonds are a girl's breast friend. Could she be an Elan? Transfering your mind into a crystal body seems a good way to achieve psionic immortality. Or maybe some sort of Elan/Maenad hybrid? |
| #18ekkoAug 01, 2009 15:18:48 | Well, siliceous lifeforms have certain problems, especially for psionic races, that makes them impractical. A silicon-based brain has problems with heat dispersion, so they would cease functioning under warm conditions (like, say, a warm summer's day) and essentially turn to stone. Think trolls on Discworld (specifically, Men at Arms discusses this). It looks to me more like a psionic version of the wilden's guardian forms than anything else. On psychoactive skins - what item slot would they occupy? |
| #19LFKAug 01, 2009 16:15:14 | On psychoactive skins - what item slot would they occupy? Depending on what they had them do: chest or Wondrous. |

Think trolls on Discworld (specifically, Men at Arms discusses this). Yes because we all know that all D&D creatures are based entirely on how they would scientifcally work. Such as the giant winged lizards that throw up the raw essence of one of the planes whenever they feel threatened. :P |
| #21sigil_beguilerAug 01, 2009 18:28:20 | Could she be an Elan? Transfering your mind into a crystal body seems a good way to achieve psionic immortality. *Eye twitch* I hope not, that would destroy one of the main concepts of the Elan. |
| #22warweaverAug 01, 2009 18:38:43 | Diamonds are a girl's breast friend. Damn, I think A_B wins the prize. (The prize is a box full of even more crystal-chick speculation.) And I'd say the psychoactive skin could also be a new kind of armor, myself. Perhaps a magical enhancment that automatically adjusted its AC bonus to whatever proficiencies you have (reacting to your brain's training as it were), as well as some minor benefits (depending on the particular skin)? I think it'd be neat to have a kind of armor literally any PC can wear and gain the benefits from (psychic-related benefits of course). |
