| #1Omni-WyvernilMar 20, 2010 2:59:11 | Similar to other wishlist threads, this will cover the Primal classes, including the new Seeker class. What new builds and features do you want to see the primal power source receive? Some potential ideas: Barbarian: Savage Barbarian: In the tradition of the Monk and the Brawler Fighter, the Savage Barbarian would focus on unarmed combat and/or combat with simple weapons. This build would center around the barbarian that fights like a wild animal; clawing and biting his opponents. This type of Barbarian might also (or alternatively) be represented by a "Fist of the Forest" paragon path that focuses on multiclassing with the Monk. Druid: Stormshape Druid: A nod to the "elemental shape" druids of 3rd edition, and a method to give a boost to druids who favor blasting over jumping into the fray. Instead of a wild beast or a swarm of insects, this druid transforms into a swirling tempest of unimaginable power. Its beast form powers would center around shifting the druid away from foes or forced movement through buffeting winds. Seeker: Haven't read enough on the Seeker to see what it needs at the moment. Being the newcomer on the Primal block, it should recieve at least two new builds. Shaman: Serpent Shaman: A shaman with a toxic spirit companion, whose presence debilitates and deals ongoing damage to nearby foes. Warden: Winter Warden: A warden who channels the very heart of winter to slow and immobilize his enemies. Miscellaneous: More paragon paths, epic destinies, and rituals are a given. Another idea for the future of primal classes might be Environmental Domains, which modify the powers of primal characters based on their ties to their home environment. For instance, an Arctic Druid might favor cold-based powers, while an Ocean Druid might prefer the lightning and thunder of oceanic storms. |
| #2clericgenericMar 22, 2010 7:39:31 | I'm not well read enough to suggest anything usefully, but those all look awesome. I'd play the hell out of a savage barbarian; the whole idea simply poos bad-a$$. |
| #3Mist-BoundMar 22, 2010 13:47:11 | Myself, I'd like a build that focuses on the more "mystical" side of the Druid. The Druid has always felt like two classes since it came out to me; one, a shapeshifting primal champion who draws on the power of the Primal Beast to unleash animalistic fury on the defilers of nature, and the other, a primal mystic who speaks to the spirits of plants and earth and animals and conjoles them into moving as he or she wills. I don't mind the two being shared, but I would like a bit more of an option to "divide" the two, as I'm not particularly interested with the shapeshifting aspect. The ability to trade Wild Form, for anything (perhaps a primal companion, if that doesn't take too much away from the Shaman), and thus give me more of an ability to play to the Druid as a kind of Wizard of the Primal Spirits would be greatly welcome. Can't think of anything else the other classes could get in PP2. |

| #5ValienMar 23, 2010 4:21:29 | Feats that help the Druid in Caster form, please. There aren't ANY. Or better yet, feats that give them two bonuses, one for caster and one for beast form. |
| #6DuskweaverMar 23, 2010 4:43:49 | I'm with you. Me too. To me, the wildshaping was always a fairly minor part of the whole druid concept. I'd love to see an option to trade in wildshaping for an animal companion, which I always felt was far more iconic for the druid than it was for the ranger. Of course, you can more or less do this with the hybrid rules now. |

That would be very neat, and I definitely agree with you. The Druid is definitely the class for a primal spell blaster, but its current iteration feels lackluster if you focus just on that. I also like the feats that would give you situational bonuses depending on if you are in Wild Shape or humanoid form. That definitely speaks to the class. |
| #8GhostStepperMar 23, 2010 15:43:42 | I'd be happy if the barbarian actually got a decent selection of charging powers. I played a rageblood and figured that with the at-will and charging class feature that the barbarian would make a good charger but was dismayed when i realized that the fighter and paladin had more charging encounter powers than the barbarian. Now even the ranger has at least as much charge-centric powers and has a ridicluous at-will throw + charge 2 power combo that makes barbarians cry.. It sucks when your at-will does more than most of your encounter powers through out heroic tier just because its a charge and the encounters aren't. Defenders get more charging than the charge barbaraian. Throw him a bone here. |
| #9DragoncatMar 23, 2010 15:48:54 | I'm with you. Me three, a very fine idea. For the Warden, I would really like a Totemist build that uses Ki Foci. Although the class is currently really good, I would like a variation of it that goes all out to turn into monsters, be it totem forms of claw and fang, a true werewolf shifting into his feral shape, or the aspect of nature's fury pounding away with stone fists. Ki Foci would do wonders for allowing a build that doesn't need a sword or spear, because sometimes nature's guardian needs to go commando. |
| #10celticmuttMar 23, 2010 16:14:26 | I'd like to see some kind of plant creature or insect swarm summoning powers for the Seeker, and maybe Utilities involving stepping into a tree and coming out another one, or otherwise manipulating plant life. Well, more than what they have now anyways. |
| #11sallaMar 23, 2010 16:25:17 | I'm with you. I'd prefer something other than that, myself. I've never been a fan of animal sidekicks. |
| #12GhostStepperMar 23, 2010 16:46:04 | Sending out an animal that puts out area effects and zone would make for a pretty sweet, and original, controller class. Almost like a control version of a shaman. |
| #13MarandahirMar 23, 2010 22:30:45 | I want to see more leaf-themed powers for Swarm Druids. Manly, non-poison powers that I can refluff as leaves. Because at least with Whirling Samsara PPath, and definitely for Wilden, the swarm of leaves is a cool concept for Swarm Druids. |
| #14Omnirahk_half-RahkshiMar 24, 2010 10:02:45 | I'm with you. I like this idea. I've been missing the Totemist from Incarnum, and this might be where it belongs best. (Though I have seen suggestions for a more elemental themed one for the Elemental power source). |
| #15McnancyMar 24, 2010 14:32:50 | Well I think with the Druid you have the issue that the class is based on have two modes of combat, and I think thats essential to the class. Also they already have summonings so I don't think a companion would really add anything. I could see a Spirit Form class feature that could replaces Wildshape, where you become something along the lines of a Kami, and have more elemental/mystical attacks but that're still at melee/close range. |
| #16CyvarisMar 27, 2010 8:06:20 | I third the caster druid. But I want the more vine, tree manipulation for the caster druid. More powers like entangle etc. Maybe give up wild shape for a boost to elemental damage or control(add effects to powers depending on type, fire powers add WIS over time, lightning adds slowed etc.) |
| #17torynMar 27, 2010 20:47:07 | I would like to see a at will melee basic attack for the warden, and maybe a druid build that dabbles in healing (so I don't have to take both shaman m/c feats like I did with my warden) . |
| #18KoboldAvengerMar 27, 2010 21:42:42 | I'm kind of drawing a blank in what else could you do to make more varieties of a mystical hunter, for new seeker builds... I guess making traps is one thing that hunters do, but I don't think that would stand on it's own as a build. Maybe they could go a more melee route with the Seeker, too. |
| #19Janx_14Mar 27, 2010 21:45:16 | They could go a pet route like the ranger, except actually make it a class feature that works as intended, unlike the poor beastmaster. Might conflict with the shaman too much though, especially being in the same power source. |
| #20McnancyMar 28, 2010 1:02:56 | I would like to see a Cha based Seeker build with a very Shinto esq vibe. |
| #21Omnirahk_half-RahkshiMar 28, 2010 14:24:42 | I'm kind of drawing a blank in what else could you do to make more varieties of a mystical hunter, for new seeker builds... Ooh... I'd like a trap-hunter build. That'd be awesome. I've always wanted to play a trap-user. I homebrewed a kobold race that got that. |
| #22Lord_VentnorMar 28, 2010 14:56:06 | I'm kind of drawing a blank in what else could you do to make more varieties of a mystical hunter, for new seeker builds... Perhaps the powers of this trap build could be similar to the Fungal Blooms power, but with more elaborate punishments. |
| #23Omnirahk_half-RahkshiMar 28, 2010 19:30:57 | I'm kind of drawing a blank in what else could you do to make more varieties of a mystical hunter, for new seeker builds... Maybe. I don't have PH3 on me to check Fungal Blooms to comment. The question is, how would we handle traps - I would guess an implement, but then we'd have to give the class an implement. Unless we made the traps a two-part thing. They trigger the trap, and that's attack roll one. Then you make a secondary attack with your bow. That'd actually be pretty neat. |
| #24lizardmageMar 29, 2010 9:07:40 | For either the druid or the shaman some weather control powers I can see them going to either class honestly, my preference is Druid to give them a bigger caster build though. |
| #25Chameleon-XMay 01, 2010 19:18:15 | Barbarian A thrown weapon build, or possibly a build that uses Totems as an implement for a more mystical barbarian (we've already got the martial-esque barbarian fleshed out). Druid Definitely a more Caster centric build. I don't know about replacing Wild Shape, but if you could find a cool alternative, then fine. I too would like more options for non-beast form druids. Warden Totemist would work, you could give him totems as an implement. Really, I'd like to see most, if not all of the Primal classes use totems at some point, since it seems like such a waste to have a whole implement type that only two classes use (Orbs have the same problem). Shaman Maybe a more control-focused build with more status effects. Definitely needs more melee spirit daily powers, though. There's VERY few of them now, and most of them are crap compared to the ranged ones. Seeker I could get behind the trap hunter, but the one thinking I DEFINITELY want to see before anything else is a mounted archer! Think of the potential archetypes it could fill! Mongol Horseman, Hunnic cavalry, Samurai, Bedouin Raider, Valenar Elf, Dragoon, Commanche Warrior, etc. Currently there are no classes which are really built around using a mount, and I'd really love to see the Seeker fill in that role. |
| #26Sea-EnvyMay 02, 2010 1:45:16 | The obvious group of feats that change at will attacks. Fighting styles or schools for barbarian and warden Spirit guides for druids and shaman and seekers Warden forms that are people at more levels then one paragon path. Barbarians can got 1-30 with out taking a clearly animal / elemental rage why not wardens As to the mounted seeker divine power 2 will hopefully introduce a mounted paladin before primal power 2 |
| #27ValienMay 02, 2010 8:21:11 | Maybe some series of feats that modify at-will powers and encounter powers, just like Martial Styles, but linked to the Primal Spirits present in Primal Power? I think that would be neat. For example, a ''[Lesser] Blood Cousin'' feat that give a bonus to a single at-will of, say, Barbarian, Warden & Druid; an then three ''[Greater] Blood Cousin'' feats, one for each of these classes, that give 'em a neat bonus and modifies some encounter powers. That would be friggin' cool, in my opinion. |

Mounted Paladin could handle the "Knight" or "Cavalier" archetype, while the Seeker can handle the more mystical Native American or mounted archer archetypes, and you could maybe give the Fighter a mounted build too for a less divine knight, or Ranger for a cowboy-type character (replace a bow with a revoler, and you've got a gunslinger). Really, the "rider" character is the only major trope that hasn't been given much love yet. |
| #29Sea-EnvyMay 02, 2010 16:49:28 | I did not mean that monted seeker would not work just that I hope to see mounted paladin first. |
| #30OskarOisinsonMay 02, 2010 20:58:29 | I would really like to see something that expands mount/companion options. It doesn't make sense that everyone benefits the same from all mounts (even radically different ones) for the cost of a feat and an item. Likewise it doesn't make sense that only one class (ranger, though possibly Shaman) gets a real companion creature. I feel like they could've merged the rules for familiars and companions and made something better than they did. At least something more versatile. After-all, if a martial character, such as a ranger, can train an animal to be combat effective, why couldn't a primal character, or a psionic one? It actually makes less sense that they can't do it on there own, only if they hybrid with ranger. I hope that when they release Dark Sun, the 'Theme' mechanic will be amenable to making some sort of option like this, so that other classes can use companion creatures. After-all, who doesn't like having a lil' pup or something running around? They can do a million things! Dogs can be a Sentinel, Guard, Hunter, Worker, Intimidator, Herder, etc. etc., each of these 'roles' have multiple abilities intrinsic to them e.g. Hunter encompasses tracking, retrieving, flushing prey, and so on and that's just ONE animal. I know this can be role-played but it feels kind of squishy to me and I'd rather just have some clearer more versatile rules to deal with animals that are maybe not the core aspect of a class. |
| #31Axiomatic_BadgerMay 07, 2010 8:42:53 | One thing I'd love to see is a return of the scimitar-wielding druid, maybe through a feat letting you use beastform at-wills when wielding a scimitar or some such. Probably won't get it though :-( I can easilly live without more pet stuff though. Pets are boring. |
