Is it just me, or does the pricing seem like a complete ripoff? (us49.99/cdn58.99) There is no way I'm buying a module/campaign that costs more than I paid for the hardcover rulebooks. What the hell are they thinking?!?!
$49.95 for Princes of the Apocalypse is not more than the $49.95 pricing of the Dungeon Master's Guide (or PHB, or MM)... though I guess it depends on the page count of the book whether the price is steeper on a per-page basis.
Do you know what the page count is going to be? It seems plausible to me that an adventure taking characters from 1st to 15th level and including some non-adventure material in the same book could be around 320 pages, thus making the pricing actually identical to the core books (excluding the MM and it's 'bonus' pages thrown in at no additional cost).
You must have a lot more disposable income than me if you can justify an adventure being the same price as a whole rulebook.

The characters in my group typically get TPKed long before 9th level, so we would probably prefer a series of shorter campaigns.
Apart from that the price looks fair.

EDIT: Actually some of the TPKs have resulted from the DM being slighty bored with the game and wanting to start a new campaign.

Amazon does have a reduced price and then some of the local game stores will be recieving it early, my store told me to expect it about 11 days before hand.
Also I believe I saw some postings about the player option parts being released later in a downloadable PDF.
If this is outside your individual budget might I advise going in with your group and splitting the cost of the adventure, I mean you only need one adventure module for a group of players.

The price of the book seems decent to me, but income is not an issue. When I did have an income that was low compared to my hobby costs...and it's sorta been a while so we must transport back to the TSR days of yore....I actually tended to hoard cash and buy D&D books exclusively. On the plus side for me this was an era when video games sucked, the internet was a vague concept that existed on BBS boards and wasn't something anyone had access to, libraries were the sum of all knowledge (along with microfiche), and my biggest competing entertainment was dates, a movie once in a while and an occasional book. I biked everywhere and had few gas costs....but as I recall at this time gas was like 89 cents a gallon so it was possible for me to live on my $700 a month earnings and still manage.
So...I feel for you! My best suggestion is get the group to chip in, since all will benefit from the book.
What I don't understand is why they are doing modules in hardback format. Rulebooks are meant to last for years but modules are often a one-use thing and then I'm done with them. Looks to me like a paperback option would be cheaper and a more efficient use of my resources.
