#1 sepsis Sep 04, 2009 11:27:39	So I'm sure everyone has seen the announcement about the "D&D Boardgame: Castle Ravenloft". While at first this made me happy mixing fond memories of the old "Dungeon" boardgame with creepy memories of my first delve into Strahd's home. Then I started to notice the the mention of "D&D Heroclix" almost within the same breath, and that made me frown. I love the idea of minis for D&D, but I'm not a fan of these "collectable figure" mini-wargames. If WotC wants to bring that mess into D&D that is fine, but I hope it dosen't screw around with those of us who just want to get figures for our regular ole D&D game. Also I really do hope that the "Ravenloft Boardgame" is more like the old Dungeon game and not some "starter set" for a new line of collectable figures, thats supposed draw us into spending money (during a bad economic time) on a new D&D-based collectable game.

Yes...and how is that supposed to make me feel any better...as a player of Marvel Heroclix in the past I can tell you it could have been marketed as a "cooperative play game" (Players can work together against  common non-player bad guys), but it was still a collectable minis game that was done to drive the sales of figs more then to promote great (and fun) gameplay. So I 'm not sure where your rude comment was supposed to add anything, as thier marketing spin, does not waylay the additional (and as I said; "almost in the same breath with") comment mentioning the release of D&D Heroclix at the same time. So regardless of pointless, nasty comments, I still do not want to see the entire D&D minis line become Heroclix for the sake of turning them into a higher profit item. Please don't try to tell me I missed something, I know what is written and I know my fear. If you are not worried that this will happen (or don't care) fine say so. If you share my fears, then again please say so. But again please do not respond with a ; "Did you even read said announcement?", because the answer is yes...thats why I created the thread. And if you have evidence that would calm my paranoid fears then just point it out, don't quote something that really has no overall bearing on my issue ;a "cooperative play game" by itself does not forgo the possibility the D&D mini line could all end up costing more, just to add support to this game that I do not even want to play (they can make D&D Heroclix...just keep it away from standard D&D).
#4 Duke5150 Sep 06, 2009 11:53:20	I'm a fan of collectable board games, but only when its not overdone. Remember the 20000000 different monopoly versions. (eye roll) That said, I look forward to ANY D&D boardgames I can get my hands on. Simply for the mini's.

#9 Dragoloth Sep 07, 2009 9:19:00	Are you sure it said "heroclix" not "Heroscape". D&D heroscape is coming out and it's not a random package minis game. It's expanding the heroscape line, not changing the D&D line. I can't find any reference to D&D heroclix anywhere, if it is heroclix could you possibly provide a link?

After seeing your Heroscape comment I looked again and yes I did read it wrong and panic. *whew* Sorry for ringing any alarm bells, but I was worried. Still I was hoping someone would know better and give more info. Again thanks for being helpful (and courteous).

We already had these from 2003-2008.
