I myself skipped 3.X and stuck with 2nd ed. 4th ed though hooked me.
I have been playing since 1979 and I think that 4e is the worst version of D&D.

I'd rather play Dungeons and Dragons than Tables and Tables. I don't care that I can't collect a sample of cave moss because I didn't put 13 points into "Gathering Cave Moss". I don't care that table 187 subsection 2 says that the rate of pregnancy in female drow is much higher when they mate with a dwarf.

You're right, this should be in general discussion. I thought it was a bit funny to ask for a Future Release to be back to the good old days.

You mean how WoW has copied D&D, put it on a computer monitor, and taken away the role-playing? :P
Really, you're speaking nonsense. If you don't like the system, then play 3.5, but nothing about 4E has changed since 3.5 from a role-playing perspective. You could use 3.5 to play a hack-'n'-slash game, you can use 4E to play a hack-'n'-slash game, you can use 3.5 to hardcore role-play, and you can use 4E to hardcore role-play. If you think otherwise, then you are objectively wrong.

Incorrect. 4E didn't scrap any of that. You're still free to play those character and to play 3.5 if you'd like to, so do. 4E isn't stopping you. It's just a new system is all. It's not like WotC is going to break into your house and burn all of your previous edition books if you try to play with them.

Which is exactly my point. You yourself have proven that 4E hasn't scrapped anything. You can still play previous editions if you want to and you do so you are. Problem is where?
No please don't go! [/sarcasm]To each his own. Hope you're not holding your breath on WotC going back to 3E. And unless you have a terminal disease that gives you under a decade to live I wouldn't claim to play 3E for the rest of your lives. Maybe you'll like 5E.
