Request that you maintain an offline (book and face-to-face) version of DnD

Jan 05, 2012 13:04:16 I'm a recovering computer game addict who is currently enjoying playing Dungeons and Dragons entirely offline so far without clear ill effects (well, offline except for this forum...). I understand why you would want to encourage people to play D&D online, I hope you continue to allow people to be competitive players offline using books and meeting face to face at tables with dice. Already, there are many dragon magazines that are only available online, but I'm managing so far.

Even D&D on the 'virtual table' is vastly different from the way a typical 'video game' is played.

But I think this game will continue to be mainly supported in the face-to-face variety, with online tools making appearances, but not required.

Jan 06, 2012 8:32:40 Dice rolling and "offline" gaming, as you call it, aren't being supported less just because the magazines are not being printed IRL, except for if you don't own a computer (which I assume you do, seeing as you are on a forum). An increasingly larger amount of the written word is distributed via the internet, and companies save a lot in not having to actually print magazines. Encouraging people to play online is so that people who aren't able to play offline can also have D&D as a hobby, it isn't trying to "convert" the offline gamers to "online" ones.
