If I could make one request of Wizards of the Coast I'd absolutely love for them to make a small and moderately inexpensive reference book for spellcasters. In an ideal world it would include the following things:
-List of spells for each individual class with an abridged one sentence summary of the spell's effect as briefly as possible, sorted by spell level.
-A full description of all spells, sorted by class and then in spell level order. Include above the description of the spell which classes and domains/bloodlines have access to this spell and which spell slot it is for them.
-A section to be able to reference domain spells for clerics and druids, bloodline spells for sorcerers, paladin oath spells, and any other additions to a character's spell list.
-An official prepared and known spell sheet for each class you can copy and have a print of. This could be a resource players would have in addition to their character sheet which shows all of the spells a character knows and which ones they have prepared for the day, as well as a way to check off spells slots that were cast. Even better if you can make it unique for each caster (one sheet for wizards, different format for sorcerers, lore bards, clerics and druids with domain support...)
-Make it look look like a spell book or wizard's journal. Make it look like an old book. Or make the binding and front/back covers from fake leather. Anything that might give it a worn simple look and will help players feel like they are holding a spellbook whenever they have to look something up. Just so long as its not a boring high gloss picture front covered in logos (I'm not saying any of the books look bad. I just would love for this one reference mini-book to fit in with its function).
-Maybe a handful of new spells I'm sure would convince people to buy this.
I would easily pay $25-$40 for a spell resource mini-book I could keep at my table next to my character sheet. It would be far fewer pages than something like the PHB or campaign settings. Who else would jump at the chance to buy something like this? I can't be the only one, right? Comment below if you'd buy this. Or if you would include something else in it.
