I'm expecting Dexterity to be the secondary ability to Charisma, which would give us a great build for Halflings and Drow; Drow Bards were always some of the most interesting Drow characters anyways, and this makes them even better. And I like the idea of a small hero robbing from the rich to give to the poor, so Halfling Bards would be awesome too. So what's the virtue? Virtue of Gallantry? Would that be Gallant Bard? I can't think of what the right word to refer to Robin Hood style heroes would be (the type of hero the Bard would invoke in his/her tales and ballads). Guess everything will be revealed on the 14th, but I'm excited for this new option for my favourite class! |

The article also mentions that some bard powers benefit from high Wisdom, which I don't believe was the case before Arcane Power. It looks like the new virtue will function off of Wisdom, which would make sense for something called the Virtue of Prescience. I'm not sure I'd like having to double up on one defense pair, though. |

EDIT: Oh, the Character Concepts article. I remember first learning about the Archer Bard there, but I didn't remember them having a section talking about the Virtue (and thus the build and ability focus). But lo and behold, you're right. Under the Powers section it discussing options of Class builds and such, and Virtue of Prescience is there. Based on the Cha/Wis focus of the Prescience Bard, and it's nature of foreseeing events before they happen, it looks like a nature Bardic build for... well, we don't have a Wis/Cha race yet. Deva comes close, if Int is used as the tertiary ability. It reminds me sort of the nature of the Panther Shaman. But more Psychic, rather than spiritual. That's a bit disappointing, but it works well for Elves as it does for Drow (and Halflings). Alright. It does confirm that I'm sticking with Cunning Bard for my core Bard Character, though. |
