| #1morvikAug 04, 2009 22:17:55 | So githzerai are favored for being the "seeker" class. I'm really curious on what that could be, I really hope that its some kind of defender, at least thats what it sort of sounds like to me. Maybe its just pursuing avenger done right with the shadow power source. ![]() What are your thoughts? |
| #2the_fanAug 04, 2009 22:23:16 | shadow won't be in PHB3. Doesn't sound primal, so likely either divine or psionic. I'm inclined to say divine. Were I to guess, it'd be a different sort of leader class, a lightly armored cleric replacement that worships the pantheon as a whole, not one god. |
| #3sigil_beguilerAug 04, 2009 22:25:13 | There is a thread going on here about it: http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1227848 My thought/guess is: My first thought was a Psionic class based around Scrying, Clairvoyance, Precognition, etc. It would be based around being able to pursue, predict and know beforehand even from far distances someone's actions. Combat wise it would be a Defender being able to predict the actions of the enemies thus being able to block attacks, defend/get allies out of the way and other such actions. |
| #4Seeker95Aug 05, 2009 8:15:07 | I get my own class in PHB3!!!! I guess this means I have to embrace psionics in this edition. Oh well. I'm worth it! |
| #5celticmuttAug 05, 2009 8:20:22 | I get my own class in PHB3!!!! It's probably a Divine class. ;) |
| #6GrazelAug 08, 2009 4:03:43 | Actually with it being githzerai I wouldn't be surprised if it is psionic. Monks have some psychometabolism powers, psions seem to encompass telepathy and telekinesis. If they are still doing hte empath that'd likely also have a bit of telepathy and a lot of psychometabolism. The seeker would cover the clairaudience/clairvoyance/precognition power sets. As another stated it'd fit well as a defender psionic class. |
| #7sallaAug 08, 2009 4:05:54 | I think the name is simply too generic to generate any useful speculation. The name 'seeker' could be darn near anything; anybody who is right about it is going to be right on pure dumb luck. |
| #8DuskweaverAug 08, 2009 12:15:43 | Actually with it being githzerai I wouldn't be surprised if it is psionic. IIRC, one of the devs has stated that the monk is the only psionic class githzerai are especially good at. That would imply that the seeker is not a psionic class. |

But there's heavy evidence ruling out a Psionic class, and some evidence against a primal class. So chances are fairly high that it's divine; past that, I don't know. |
| #10blowfishAug 08, 2009 20:49:55 | What page of the article does it mention a seeker class, mine only mentions avenger, monk and ranger? |
| #11the_fanAug 08, 2009 20:55:01 | It's in the character builder and compendium, though not in the article. I thought about it a bit more, and noted that Eberron makes a big deal about archers in Thrane. Thrane is known for its divine magic, but there's no divine archer class. Seeker could fit for an archery class too. |
| #12AstromathAug 08, 2009 20:59:50 | What page of the article does it mention a seeker class, mine only mentions avenger, monk and ranger? It's mentioned in Character Builder. |
| #13DuskweaverAug 09, 2009 2:32:06 | Thrane is known for its divine magic, but there's no divine archer class. Seeker could fit for an archery class too. So, essentially a ranged version of the avenger? I think that would be cool. I was actually disappointed that Divine Power didn't introduce a ranged weapon build for the avenger. |
| #14wvrenwulfAug 09, 2009 9:35:15 | If Seeker is for githzerai, it's likely psionic. I know their was a book and group called The Seeker(s) for classic d&d, but they may have gotten the idea from the movie The Seeker, too. There was psionic stuff there, too. |
| #15stogoeAug 09, 2009 11:21:14 | We could definitely use more archer classes - we've got, what, one now? |
| #16the_fanAug 09, 2009 11:30:17 | Ranged rogue is also a decent build, though those are more shuriken or crossbow. Also, there's the crossbow artificer and prescient bard, but nothing for Divine. |
| #17DuskweaverAug 09, 2009 13:30:29 | IIRC, there are currently only three classes in the game that are even proficient with miltary ranged weapons (longbows and shortbows) as standard. And one of those has no ranged weapon powers at all. Longbows and shortbows definitely need more love. ![]() |
| #18NautilusAug 09, 2009 18:11:45 | This is as much a guess as anyone else's, but I think it's going to be the equivalent of 3.5's archivist. A divine class that doesn't tie itself to any one good but 'seeks' divine lore wherever it can find it. One way to help represent this in 4e would be to let the seeker take any Channel Divinity feat it wanted, regardless of worship requirements. |
| #19stogoeAug 09, 2009 20:59:50 | One way to help represent this in 4e would be to let the seeker take any Channel Divinity feat it wanted, regardless of worship requirements. It would be good if they could take multiple Channel Divinity feats. "A seeker does not worship the gods; rather, they seek to uncover the secrets of the gods' power to use as their own" - I like that idea a lot. Even if it turns out not to be the Seeker class, I surely hope that this archetype is included. |
