With the soon release of The Shadowfell: Gloomwrought and Beyond.....I was wondering where does this leave Keep on the Shadowfell's existence? Is this new Shadowfell campaign gonna totally replace the original H1 adventure and even the entire series of adventures related to H, P, E adventure sets? I did notice they added a little alknowledgment about if Orcus is already dead, that doesn't stop the Shadow forces from leaking out or whatever.

So that's my question. Does the new Shadowfell release gonna replace the Keep's existence or will they be able to co-exist together?

Thanks!

Yeah, they are probably going to deny that the Keep never existed and send their squads to burn all the copies.

What excalainen means is more that the published adventures only happen if you run them, or if you assume someone else is running them, or has run them.  It's your decision whether to include them or not in your game.  Especially considering that H1 Keep on the Shadowfell is free downloadable content these days.

This book will most definitely assume that Orcus is alive and kicking.  All books and adventures published seem to be taking a stance of happening FIRST, so that the order can be tweaked, unless the adventures feed into each other, like the H1, H2, H3, P1, P2, P3, E1, E2, E3 series of adventure modules, or like how the DM Kit adventure module assumes you may have run the Red Box adventure module, and the Monster Vault adventure module assumes you may have run the DM's Kit adventure module.

H1 Keep on the Shadowfell through E3 Prince of Undeath are related, so they connect in raw.  But since Shadowfell: Gloomwrought and Beyond isn't related to these adventure modules, even if it features places they included, the events won't have "happened" unless you decide they've happened.  At most, there may be a sidebar talking about how this is changed by those adventure modules, much like the description of Tu'narrath in the Magazine Article on the Githyanki Capital had in relation to the Scales of War Adventure Path.

It's likely that if there's a Shadowfell Campaign included in the book (and I doubt they'd have a full series of 9 adventure modules within the book, but they may have suggested campaign arcs and definitely will have encounters) or released alongside the book in the Magazines or out of them, the focus will be different.  For example, what about Vecna?  Scales of War touched on Kas' betrayal and rebellion against Vecna, but since it was focused on the battle against Tiamat, Vecna didn't take center stage.  But an adventure path with the third player in the War for the Shadowfell would make sense.  Or perhaps the Dark Entities that cause Domains of Dread to arise in the first place will be featured.  I don't know.  But nothing will render earlier adventures "non-canon" or "canon."  It's your game, to pick and choose what you want.  The books, magazine articles, adventure modules, box sets, and other materials all just provide you with options to tailor your game the way you want to play it.

That's a great explanation about it. That really clears up a lot. Thank you very much, Marandahir and Excalainen!
