well i sold my stuff that i had for 3.5 all of it just so i could get the 4E stuff...bought a whole bunch of it and i thought some of the mechanics were ok, some good, some kindda bad, and alot sucks...well i only kept on cause of the digital table the promised us and GENCON...well that never happened..so i am so disappointed  in WoTC...so i am NOT going to purchase anything they manufacture until they start thinking about the customers....im sorry for the players who like this game, however i know magic the gathering is what ruined D&D,,,due to the NO role playing,,,,and now 4E is just a card game/ minis game with better rules...and if you think that this is really D&D or if you think that is what GYGAX had in mind when he created this, then you are sadly mistaken.

I'll ignore the rant part and try to address the core complaints...

well i sold my stuff that i had for 3.5 all of it just so i could get the 4E stuff...

Your decision.

well i only kept on cause of the digital table the promised us and GENCON...well that never happened..so i am so disappointed  in WoTC...

There are ways to play D&D online if you really want to do it, even without the game table.

so i am NOT going to purchase anything they manufacture until they start thinking about the customers...

They do think about their customers. But since you just declared you don't want to be their customer anymore, they probably stopped thinking about you...

however i know magic the gathering is what ruined D&D,,,

In 1998, Magic ruined D&D.
In 2008, WoW ruined D&D.
You're 10 years late to the party.

and now 4E is just a card game/ minis game with better rules...and if you think that this is really D&D or if you think that is what GYGAX had in mind when he created this, then you are sadly mistaken.

Uh, Gygax started D&D as a minis game with better rules in 1974... Shouldn't you rather say it went back to the roots?

I shouldn't be snarky here but there is no coherent argument to reply to in any meaningful manner. Probably the thread will be closed soon.

As the Poster above stated Chainmail was orginally a medievil wargame...with no roleplaying...I know I played it. And in any case no one should need rules or guidelines for roleplaying, that is brought to the table by the DM and Players. If you need books to tell you how to do this well then your not the player Gygax wanted in this game. My group and I roleplay to the cows come home in every 4e game we play, many nights no dice are needed. So if you bought a bunch of books saying "where is the role playing?"; you missed the mark. You and your fellows supply that, no book needed.

Appealing to a dead person's authority should be a bannable offense.

It certainly kills any sort of sensible discussion right there.

This thread isn't even in the right section.

They do.  They made a great game that's better than 3e and they are even opening things up to public playtesting to get feedback and improve things.

im sorry for the players who like this game,

I'm sorry for those that don't.

due to the NO role playing,,,,and now 4E is just a card game/ minis game with better rules

I have roleplayed plenty in 4e.  I've even had sessions that contained no combat (gasp!) or skill challenges (gasp gasp!).  Just character interaction.  Oh wait... I guess we're not supposed to be able to do that in 4e.  Maybe I should tell my friends that, apparently, we just disobeyed the D&D gods and WotC will soon come to confiscate our 4e materials since we're not playing it right.  Apparently.

So, does bringing up Gygax have the same effect as Godwinning a thread?
